Darcoder's Nvidia driver MOD thread for 17xR3

Can anyone explain to me the purpose of the modded drivers for OEM cards?

AFAIK drivers straight off NVIDIA's website seem to be working perfectly fine for me, am I missing something here?

 

please advise which version from NVIDIA?

if yes please list your BIOS (and any mods you might have done to the VBIOS and stuff)

because the drivers from NVIDIA do not select the 460M in the M17XR3

 

Darcoder, I'm still getting bsod when installing the nvidia driver. currently using 460m with 1900x1080 60hz screen. The installing was ok but after restart, bsod. Did I do I wrong?

 

Normally not because if installation succeded, the problem should be another i think Mhh..
Try this:
download beta 275.27 and replace the two files that i give on the folder,
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service i just do a mistake in the title on megaupload....
==> before doing these steps, try desactivate User Account Control and after reboot, lauch setup.exe and be sure to allow the non signed driver file

 

Do I install using the express installation option or custom installation? Do I need to uncheck the 3D vision drivers if i install through custom installation, or I should install everything inside the package?

 

Since you do not have a 120Hz screen, dont install the 3D driver. I always select custom install and then check the clean install option.

I always forget to add this in. I deactivate UAC as soon as I have the OS installed or setup a system. I keep forgetting there are folks out there who do have it enabled.

 

yep, follow BatBoy, do not instal 3D option and deactivate UAC

 

still didn't work for me Bsod once again from the same problem

But this driver is great in the sense of games performance are improved, but sometimes it fails a little:/, FPS might decrease and my gtx485m increase in temps by 2*c. Don't know actually if it,s the same issue for gtx460m..

 

Darcoder, you installed a 485m into an r3 correct? And it works with 120 hz? Where did you buy the 485? I don't care for 3d or optimus And I returned my 460/r3 because I wanted to try 6970. Frames were way better but I returned because display is far worse than 120hz. I would very much love to put a 485 into a 120hz. Can the fans keep temps in check?

 

Hi, so yep i got an gtx485m and it's fully working in 120Hz to 59hz.
The Fan in normal mode will be silent as a gtx460m but in game, they will work, not full, but they will keep the temperature. For exemple with that last driver, my temp in Black ops gaming is max 72*c. In IDLE, it's 52*c. But if you follow other threat about how to instal a gtx485m, you will know that it requires a risquy mod on the GPU. I made a video tutorial..
I bought my GPu to an Australian,Logical Blue one but there are some USA resellers too.

Hi I don,t have optimus, don,t have lots of knowleges about that but maybe try uninstal the driver, after that, delet all registry key from Nvidia in Software and WOW64.
After that, restart and install driver.
Do you have tried on control panel nvidia put "Prefer Maximum Performance" verse "Adaptive" or in wich driver are you running?

 

yup the control panel Prefer mode is set at Max performance

drivers currently are the 266.08 (heck even downgrading the bios to A03 doesnt help) i tried your latest Beta pack...but the PC just BSOD'd on bootup

 

Same goes to me. I uninstall all the drivers, remove the registry, restart and install the beta. Installations works fine but upon restart, bsod.

Dude....i've already tried the 267.64...that was the default driver that came installed on the machine

I have downgraded the BIOS to A03= no help
i have downgraded NV drivers to 266.08= no help
i have upgraded Intel drivers= No help
I have installed all the latest Chipset drivers (follwing Batboy's link on "drivers available for the M18X") = no help
i even "attempted" to use NV drivers for the M14X (maybe somehow i'd be able to use the Optimus package from it, and since all NV drivers are Verde...)= no help (no use either it just states incompatibile adaptor)
Modded drivers= no help ( few install and few'er BSOD, the rest do the same as the package from Dell)


PS other than optimus not "working" the machine has 0.5 build issues (a loose battery cover) and the rest (99.5) of the machine is perfect....no issues what-so-ever.

 

im having the same problems as christang Bsod no matter how i install with the 60hz screen.

 

yeahh i saw that it's with all 60Hz, i'm a little busy right know but will try tonight^^

 

Where did you buy the 485M from ?

 

no problems im not in a big hurry for it. if you get to it awesome if not its fine.

this is the miracle fix i was looking for, for my R3. BUT... i still get trouble playing..

for example when i try to open call of duty Black Ops.. it shows no error, just flashes a black screen and closes. also tried running the game on safe mode, no luck.

what can i do? that game is pretty to play on 3D :O

nevermind i fixed it, the game auto-updated and i removed the config files and worked fine nice patch there!

hi guys, sry I was on travel but didn't had time to check for 60Hz, and I think..but really i didn,t find a solution right know:/ harder when i don,t have one in front of me

but for your issue Insightful, I got the same error before, SO firstly, try to install the 270.61 modded (in my first page here ) and after succesfull, instal the last one, It should work Let me know^^

GTA4/ELFC will not engage the 460M, no matter game updated or not, the application and the optimus system do not work together.....

i tried an option that Tzolcat offered, and still no dice.....

the positive part of the new system is
it's a B3 from the get-go
its got 1333 mhz rams

but...the panel oer the battery still rattles
the media panel above the keys has flex/creaks when pushed and or dec.volume button hard to depress....other than perfect

 

my battery is loose as well, and the media bar has some problems. Other than that its an awesome system

 

There's no 3D with this modded inf, I seem to get only anaglyph in any game I play even though I've selected 3D monitor.

I cannot get new drivers to install on my m17x R3 today, as usual "no hardware detected" Is there a modded file for this as well??

 

download the link right under from megaupload. Extract into drivers folder. Overwrite. Eat some waffles.

 

Cool, that worked. Except 3D for my blu-ray doesn't work. Just audio, no video...only black screen. Using powerDVD 11 Ultra. Any suggestions for that folks?
P.S. I actually was actually gonna eat some waffles...went with pancakes though....hehe.

 

Disregard...figures PowerDVD a few days ago released a patch that brought my 3D back!

Hi I'm new to Alienware. Installed your 275.33+inf mode and still getting BSOD occasionally.

I'm on GTX460M + 3D 120Hz (BIOS A04), so what is the MOST STABLE nVidia driver available out there? Do I need to install intel 3000 and 3D emitter drivers? Thanks!

 

nada on the intel 3000...primarily cuz' its not there/not enabled...either ways it cant work on a 120hz screen.......3D emitter drivers are preinstalled......

try the latest Dell's or otherwise read through this thread....there are quite a few working drivers in WHQL and BETA

 

I've tried a number of thes drivers.

#266.08 (Dell A00, R291227, WHQL), Have to install 3D vision controller driver(R291236) to enable 3D, otherwise complain about missing drivers
#267.64 (Dell A01, R300038, WHQL)
#275.27 (Nvidia beta with DARCODER's inf mod)
#275.33 (Nvidia WHQL with DARCODER's inf mod)

All throw me constant BSOD after clean installation and a restart.

I use blueScreenView to open these minidumps. they say one of these:

Finally I got myself sorted with #266.08 and 3D vision controller driver # 266.58 off Nvidia instead of Dell's 266.08. I no longer get any BSODs, thanks god
