    the best driver is 275.27.
and i listen that A04 has some issue, I'm on A03 and never has BSOD on A03 and A04 has a little CPU Downclocked i think too.

Did anyone get 275.xx drivers working on the 460m with the 60hz screen?

I get a warning about the driver when installing with the option to install anyway. Everything after that goes fine, but on reboot i get a blue screen 'page fault in non paged area' nvlddmkm.sys issue.

    Edit:

Copied nvlddmkm.sy_ from dell drivers into the 275.27 folder and got it to install + reboot.
Nvidia control panel won't launch: "you are not currently using a display attached to the nvidia gpu"

Any way to fix the nvidia control panel?

I got the 275.33 drivers running tonight. Seem to run games fine. Played LFD2 for about 30 minutes no issues.

    Nvidia 460m.
    60hz screen.

You have to install the R3 modded bios. Disable the intel GPU and Set PEG as primary display. Both options are in the advanced tab the modded bios un-hides under Video Configuration. Then install 275.33 following darcoder's instructions (replace the inf in the install folder).

    Darcoder's inf:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...ia-driver-mod-thread-17xr3-9.html#post7556748

Bios Advanced tab (second one), select Video Configuration:
    http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/7044/imag0959.jpg
Primary Display is on the first page of Video Configuration.
Go into 'Internal Graphic Device' to open up another page with the Intel GPU settings. The first option inside here labeled 'Internal Graphics Device' controls whether the intel GPU is enabled/disabled.

To Download + Install the mod bios:
    M17R3mod.exe
    1. Create bootable usb drive with DOS (use USB Disk Storage Format Tool.zip)
    2. copy modded bios exe
    3. insert usb drive to e-sata/usb port
    4. reboot, press f12, choose usb drive
    5. run bios exe

Remember when the BIOS is updated it loads the default settings. If you do not use raid you will need to change the hard drive settings off raid to one of the others or windows won't boot.

I have a quick question, when I'm trying to format the bootable usb drive with DOS, I have to select DOS using system files and when I select the M17R3.exe file, it states that it is not a valid DOS system file at that location, what do I do to get around that.

Darcoder, have you seen the "black screen" on resume / wake up issue on 275.50? I still see it on occasion on the 275.20 drivers still.

Pepe1, could you be so kind as to walk me through the command prompt process to get the bios to flash in DOS? I really have no clue about what I am doing with command prompts. Excited to see if this will fix my problems. :)

Nevermind, I figured it out. I can confirm that running these Modded bios will fix the issues with the 460m and 60Hz screen reacting terribly with optimus. All games that were giving me issues before are running hassle free and smooth. Great job Pepe1. And to answer your question Downrock, yes. You can always go back in your bios and turn the IGP back on. So glad this work!

For some reason my installer failed, but it got past the "checking system compability" part

    This is what I got.

    M17xR3
    Nvidia 460M 65HZ (Non 3d-version)
Im using the 267.64 drivers from dell drivers list.
    PCI_ID
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_04BA1028&REV_A1

PS: Darcoder, I will gladly use another driver version if you know of one that runs better or smoother, I'd like you to recommend me one since you have much much more experience than me in this, thank you!

    Edit:
Been reading through this thread and I must say in advance, Darcoder you're a guardian angel! Also....How come these modified files aren't already fixed by Nvidia? Is it due to bad communication between dell and Nvidia? PS, I still got the problem, heh!

So you mean that the optimus works better now? Sorry, I'm kinda new to this things. So if I still want to enable optimus, I have to go back to bios and turn IGP on only? Do I need to do anything else? What happens if I screwed up? Does system restore work?

I think modding the bios means disabling optimus, as far as I've come to understand, intel gpu drivers + nvidia gpu driver = optimus?

I never understood the point or purpose of Optimus in the first place...I've just come to understand that it makes getting new Nvidia drivers a living hell. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It causes the R3 with 460m to hang when trying to wake from sleep.

    hi guyz...
I have found new nvidia driver 280.26...
    http://nvidiaforums.s3.amazonaws.com/dell.zip
Please do not download from nvidia website directly it will not work since inf is not updated or something for dell systems... I got above link from NVIDIA Forums

I think finally the solution is here... I have been gaming with new drivers link above since past half hour no throttling till now... I think the problem is solved with these drivers can't stop myself for posting this... keeping fingures cross... will update after gaming for day or two...
Please post your views too... and if it works please pas sthis to all... also make sure this drivers are given by nvidia directly for 580M/460m dell m17x/18x users... Not modded by some user... so don't heistate to download...
    Regards!

    Added:

    Hey sorry Guyz!
No help with the drivers i gave... I get throttle after temp reached around 77.C...

    Regards!

Hey i think the problem is not with bios or drivers... or something else... the problem is with adaptor... see your adaptor will be getting damn hot... technically there are IGBT's in adaptor whose performance decreases as temperature increases and cannot give enough current required... So the adaptor temperorary does not give enough power to system causing game to throttle just like adaptor is unplugged... Just try removing adaptor when playing the game you will feel same throttle as before... I think changing adaptor will remove the problem...provided you get right adaptor... Not sure i'm asking dell to get my adaptor replace... Will keep posting...
Does anyone know what clevo system adaptor output ratings are...?

Hey thanks for your post..I got my new M17x R3 a few days back... My throttling happens at 77°C+ without going through any changes steps of bios update with the method you suggested in your post...My furmark video is as follows:
    Alienware M17x R3 580M Throttle at 77°C Furmark graph - YouTube
please see in full HD to view chart and reading properly..You can see clearly the VDDC voltage drops from 0.870V to 0.800V after reaching temp 77°C+. I have contacted the dell technical department and reported to nvidia techincal person manuel G too for the same then they said they will soon work on new Dell vbios update...
So you too better contact them and ask all your friends this would really speed up the process...Ask or send them this link to all these forums for throttling of 580m so they can view and take steps rather we working on round through other then dell... we have not paid to be ducks... so please write to them... its great to see we all try to help each other but we need to get what we paid for... so please write to dell and send cc copy to micheal dell too... If you do have his id tell me i'll send you...

    Regards!

    Hi Mates :)

I'm giving my gratefulness to peppe1 - LVNeptune - DARCODER - and to whoever modded the r3 bios. THANK YOU.
    My system(m17x r3) is with gtx 460m and display 1080p, win 7 x64.

I can't still find and understand the benefits from high end processors like i7 with integrated video, just trouble and conflicts in the system. Everyone who buys this do not care about power consuming, there always should be cpu models(the most powerful like 990x) without integrated shi?s.

    P.S.

But this time AGAIN the problem seems to be the Nvidia, because no one with ati have this problem.

    thank you again.
