Yea, I got nothing on my credit card either. AAFES live chat is telling me to wait it out. Which I don't want to do in the event that I miss the deal.

EDIT: Just got off the phone with AAFES and they said it doesn't appear that I ordered anything. I guess I'm going to place another order right now. Whats the worst that happens? I get two M17x's? Lol My wife would kill me, but they said I could cancel one order if both ended up going through.

Hooooooly cow... I was just about to submit my reorder for the R4. I had it in my AAFES cart, was on Step 2 of 3 in the check out process. I decided to check my email again. Hit refresh, and what do you know...last nights order came in not but 2 min ago. :p

Estimated ship date 5/23/12. Time to empty my AAFES cart as I have no need for another one :p

Is yours delivery or ship on 5/23? My estimated delivery is 5/25, and you and I are neighbors.

I actually ordered an M17 and an M14 - wondering if the 14 might be enough power for me, but I doubt it.

The email I got says estimated ship 5/23, my guess is it will be much earlier. Just says in process on the AAFES site.

At some point in the future I will. When I get the R4 I will test the GPU in the M17x R2. See how it takes the Dell card. But I sold stuff to get a pair of 7970's for the R2 but the R4 was a better deal so I jumped on that. Only cost $92 more than the pair for cards themselves. But to answer your question, yes, I will be putting two 7970s in the R2, but not in the very near future. ;)

Wha...? How old was your father when you were born, cause according to my math he must have been in his mid to late 60s at least. My grandfather was 20 when he was on Normandy and died in his 70s in the mid-90s.

in any case, this would be really pushing the envelope since you're no longer a "dependent" at 24.

Before I ask my cousin to make an account. I heard prices went up. Can anyone confirm the price for this set-up.

    Alienware m17x R4 base config
    Ivy Bridge
    7970m upgrade
    1080p upgrade
    + discount code

    Thanks!

Yea, I just checked and it looks like the prices went up. My config (i7 3720, 500GB, 7970M, DVD, 1080P, 6GB RAM) that I got for $1211 now costs. $2,075.80.

Looks like the increased the CPU upgrade prices a lot too. To go from 3610 to 3720 was originally a $9 upgrade. Now its a $436 upgrade. I also removed Microsoft Office which saved $199 and now it only saves $149.25

So glad I ordered when I did!

Thanks for the reply. You're so lucky :p I guess deal is somewhat dead then. So bummed out right now :( Just when I'm about to contact my cousin, the prices went up. I was going to try and sell my current R3 I bought 3 weeks ago even for $200 loss so I can get the same thing you just ordered.. I think it's worth it for the upgrades plus its brand new.

Lesson learned. NEVER keep looking for deals after a purchase. lol :D

UPDATE: As of May 10 prices went up $200. Still a good deal, but not as good as it was on 8-9 May.

So good for everyone who didn't wait and ordered. As I suspected AAFES decided to deal with fakes by raising prices. And that's boys and girls why you don't do this. By trying to cheat the system you only screw yourself and every other military man and woman.

Interesting question now, since we seem to have gotten a deal where prices were incorrect, I wonder if they will honor them. I still haven't seen the status where it was submitted to Dell and my card charged. It is sitting at processing.

I really don't think it's that - I think their initial prices were a mistake. The crazy AAFES sale on R3's last year wasn't as good as these prices. I really think somewhere along the line someone screwed up inputting the prices.

It looks like they are working on the site so I'd check back in an hour or two. Right now there is no option to remove the Microsoft office, which saved me $200. Also now the default option for warranty is basic 2 year, which is included on the price so there is no one year warranty option. Maybe they ran out of 1 year warranty :p

For the yesterday's deal price you can still try OCONUS link. Not sure how it will go if you enter CONUS address, but it's worth a try.

No that's normal. When I purchased my R3, the 2760 was a $9 upgrade. Their prices fluctuate almost on a weekly basis. I wouldn't be surprised to see prices drop like crazy in a month or 2. They'll also offer freebies like a tactx mouse or headset or orion backpack every once in a while.

It actually costs more to buy occonus. I bought it at 1580 and then canceled it and went conus and got the same m17x build for 1256. Now aafes is being retarded and hasn't removed the order from my account.

Hope, sucks you missed the initial deal. I got the same config ordered yesterday. But looks like you at least got a decent deal on it.

At least you didn't have to pay the +$2K that it was costing a few hours ago.

hahaha no no :) I throw in 5 with different configs just in case deal goes south. I am hoping that since they are in my cart they will stick even if they later change the deal. Also i am planning on getting one for a friend since he would like one....my other friend is like me broke but wants one just can't justify it.

as i told who ever i was talking to in a pm after telling me about the rules on the ummm site i decided not to....too bad though....would be nice ^^

EDIT: wifey said i can still get it though :)

I guess it may be true. From Slickdeals:
I really hope that's the case, it was just getting way out of hand, seeing how some that have no ties to military whatsoever where ordering 3-4 laptops using someone else's AAFES account. It just amazes me that there are so many stupid military men (or women) that are willing to compromise themselves for something like this. It is just sad.
If what was said in quoted message is true, than, hopefully, something good will come out of it.

Mine seems to be still in the system, and my laptops should be shipped to my old address before I PCS'd two years ago. I still have dependents living there, so it should be in DEERS (I think).

Don't really know, but I think not. It's an American company, so there isn't any reason to give discounts to foreign military.

I just double checked my information in DEERS and my information in DEERS matches my ship to and billing address. So if Dell/AAFES is indeed canceling orders based on that cross check, then I'm in the clear as all my info will match :D Here's to hoping it works out. I just got an email saying it was. Can't beat the deal I got. :D
