Fully loaded M17x $1256 with AAFES Discount

Well my order was canceled. It was in production and my credit card had been charged, I thought I was in the clear. I'm going to call dell tomorrow to see whats up. Was excited to try the new 650m in the m14x...

 

ordered mine fingers cross! I know my address in deers is right...well i hope it is. It was supposed to be updated when i got out :/

 

Ohh man. Damn those abusers. Is the deal totally dead or did it just go up like a couple of hundred $$$. I was gonna get a m17x R4. My big bro was gonna get it for me tomorrow. I was complacent since i knew the deal was going to last till sunday. Oh well...sux.

 

Sorry man. As I said in another post, when I saw the change over night, I knew it was too good to last so I pulled the trigger then thinking I could always change my mind in a few days.

 

So would you know how much the base price for the m17x be? 2k+?

 

the oconus section has gone up like 200 bucks plus upgrades have gone up last i checked. The conus section has come down a little in price for some reason. I would check it every two hours to keep an eye on it you never know. The oconus section is still better then dells site i think but best to call dell and ask for a quote and check it with the AAFES site. You can get a bunch of money off if you call dell for a price and haggle them. Someone here claimed to save 17% by calling.

Yea, I'm really hoping my order doesn't get canceled either. I hope Dell/AAFES is canceling the orders that people made who don't have legit access to AAFES or the ones that ordered more than one system. All my billing/shipping information is the same as that which is in DEERS, where AAFES can verify it. Keeping my fingers crossed on this.

I'm definately going to be trying the card in the R2 Lets hope it works in the R2 with no fan issues. A plus would be if HDMI audio worked with a dell 7970. Not that I ever need it though

 

That and the DisplayPort!!!!! Dying to using Eyefinity!

 

question it has HDMI in and out....can the in not be used as an out? I thought it had 1.3 and 1.4 outs from the specs i read...is the in 1.3?

 

So far all mine are in production, even the one M17x R4 that I ordered and canceled couple of days ago. In case AAFES didn't cancel my first order and it will still ship, can I just refuse delivery and get CC refund this way?

No, but that's never been an issue before. Dell said it was because the m14x r2 is backordered and they didn't want me to wait for it. I'm still fighting with them.

 

Most of the the people who I am seeing get theirs canceled seems to be the m14x folks. Slickdeals has a ton of people complaining about cancels and everyone I read had ordered the m14. I ordered the m17 around 8 PM on the 9th. Order date shows up as the 10th and it has been in production since. My billing and ship address was not the same as in DEERs either.

 

Maybe they set the upper limit at $1000 for order cancellation?

My order from 7 May that I canceled on May 8th has just been shipped. Talk about communication problems with AAFES. I hope that my deal on M17x for $1256 goes through so I can refuse the delivery, or I maybe forced to sell the first one.

Looks like first laptops ordered on May 8th are being shipped now. Seems like AAFES went through with orders. Some people think that those that were canceled used $10 discount with the deal price. If that's true that's just sad, that $10 could've destroyed deal like this for some people.

 

What order did you try to cancel? A full priced order?

 

Not as good deal as the second laptop. Still decent price though (I think).

Hopefully I see my other laptop getting shipped this week, so I can refuse this package and get my refund.

 

Rorkas, so it looks like your $1,256 order went through?? I ordered the $,1211 config (500GB HDD). So these are shipping? I ordered on the 10th. Still in production on the Dell site.

 

I ordered an m14x on the 9th, and it has shipped already. I assume our 17's will follow soon.

You should try to resell that $1598 one. Couldn't you likely get $1850 for it? I just sold my year old R3 for $1300.

 

My $1256 M17x and $666 M14x are still in production (I suspect that customized nameplates take a little longer). Hopefully they will ship by the end of the week, if not I may accept $1598 M17x just as an assurance - the worst case scenario I'll have this one laptop (or two M17x ). If I end up with two, I'll have to sell one M17x.
AAFES is really messed up when it comes to ordering - I canceled the first order online and via phone - no result.

It seems so. I think tomorrow a lot of new laptops will be shipped to those who ordered early. It looks like one week time delay from order placed to order shipped.

 

Well, you are well within your rights to sell the $1598 one since you didn't order it through AAFES (Or maybe you did order it through AAFES at that price, and I am just misunderstanding?). If you were to make a $200 profit, that would make your M17X $1056!

 

I doubt it brother. I used a 10$ discount coupon and mine has yet to be canceled. I think people are guessing wildly why orderes were canceled but it is obvious noone really knows why.

 

My M17x has just been shipped. Order was placed on May 8th, shipped tonight, arrives tomorrow. That's most likely the best deal I ever gonna get on AW.

 

Did you get engraving on your nameplate? In the AAFES system I ordered on the 9th but in the Dell system, it shows the 10th. I wonder when mine will ship.

 

I ordered on the 10th, Dell recieved the order on the 11th. I got mine with the standard nameplate because when I upgrade, somone else won't get a system with my name on it

 

Yes, my plate was engraved. You should see yours shipped today or tomorrow.
I'm still curious about all the cancellations. Glad mine went through, nothing can beat this deal.
I'm glad I shipped it to different address - I have a test in one week and if I had this laptop in my hands tomorrow I'll be done with my study for sure . I'll let my wife play with it for a week (great injustice).

Wish I knew as well. The only systems I saw getting canceled were the M14's. Other than that, no clue.

 

well one of my orders were canceled by AAFES. Been on the phone with dell 3 times with 10 different people and been on the phone with AAFES 3 times and first dell says its canceled and then AAFES says its not canceled so i call dell and it is and dell tried to match the price but with tax and a couple things missing is not worth it. Now I need to call AAFES again and get them to honor it otherwise file a BBB complaint and figure out what else I can do.

Alright, I talked to Mike at AAFES and he is in charge of the dell sales...let me just say i have had to talk to AAFES and Dell 3 times and probably 15-20 different people to get a damn answer. Basically, according to Mike Dell management found out that the sale was going to loose them money and made AAFES/Dell cancel all orders...First it was the m14x but after further research they found the m17x was loosing them money too and they made AAFES today cancel all orders. If you ordered the first day or two you might have gotten away with it. I plan on filing a complaint to BBB and Federal Trade Commission.

 

I'm still hoping against all odds that mine ships. I'll be bummed if it gets canceled.

this is garbage...very one here is getting theirs and i am not getting mine. So filing complaints.

EDIT: Well the FTC is done with...need to finish homework for class tomorrow but the BBB is next. I'll probably do it Saturday. After that I'll look into any local agencies for IL. I recommend you do the same since this is Dells fault. AAFES and Dell had an agreement and Dell backed out of it after several days!

 

lol i canceled my first order within an hour of ordering it becuase i chose oconus and conus was cheaper. well... it shipped before aafes could cancel it. So i called Dell which has 10 times better customer service they stopped the truck from delivering it at my house. Now the funny part within one hour of ordering the first one I purchased the conus one. Its still in production and the first one has already been returned. Irony?

Try the FedEx reference trick they posted on Slickdeals.

Get your order number off the status page(Dell) and do a track by reference using that order number and your zip and see what it says. FedEx, according to that information has received shipment notice and ETA is today but nothing yet.
