Which standard? VGA driver or did windows install a nVIDIA driver by itself thru windows update?
If it's the second one try doing this to prevent windows from installing a (most of the times bad/wrong/outdated) driver:

Press the start/orb button and search for gpedit.msc.
In the left side of the window that shows up select Computer Configuration and click Administrative Templates then System and finally double click Driver Installation, you should have Turn Off Windows Update Device Driver Search Prompt double click it and select the Enabled radio button, Apply > OK and close that.

Now install a driver of your choice with a modded .inf file to include the GPU IDs and see what you get.
You should be fine since the system boots with the card and the image is not distorted or the fans work normally.

I think he means VGA drivers. If the IGP is disabled in BIOS and you get no artifacts, or lines or anything weird on the screen, then the problem is drivers related. In my opinion and easy way to find the proper drivers can be first know the brand of the card (Dell, Clevo, Asus.. etc).. then go to Drivers support of one laptopt which comes with the video card you own.. for example: if you have and Clevo GTX 560M, then go to the Clevo website and download video drivers for the x7200.. Try it.

If it an Nvidia Card then try a trick like this, boot with the IGP ( 9400 GT ), Install the latest Nvidia Verde Driver , then go back the bios and disable the IGP . And just let the Windows intergrated the driver to the card itself...

The manufacturer of my card Clevo, I tried to put the x7200 driver did not help. With gtx560m windows sets the standard vga driver with a resolution of 1280x800 and in Device Manager identifies as a standard vga adapter.AIDA64 program identifies the video card as gtx560m. I think the reason in the BIOS of the motherboard and video card. Vbios i can try to flash the dell vbios gtx560m, but if there is no support for the BIOS of the motherboard, nothing happens.

I think a bios modder (TheWiz) knows the answer

You make me crazzy :mad2: What should I do with this 560 crap if it failed like yours... We need to do something.... Try to change the card (you have 2 GTX560) maybe one of them simply out of order...

Then, if nothing helps, you can try to return cards to seller. Perhaps he will agree if you pay for shipping :) Or you can wait until my card arrives, and we will try to solve issue together... But you have good idea - i mean flashing dELLs 560 bios into. You should try it.

I'll try, but the BIOS of the motherboard in this case, more importantly, the BIOS is responsible for supporting the video cards.
need unlocked bios with the support of our video cards !!

Maybe we should try to open ROM of the mainboard in the editor, find the "gtx260m" string, then change first number after GTX to 5 and flash it back? :)

The mobility 5870 weren't officially supported in the M17x but apparently they work as per Dannyboy's statement, same thing with the mobility 6970 and 6990 for the M17x R2.
So now It's basically up to you if you want to fully test it.
I think It's worth it as you've come so far and the laptop boots with it and the fans work.

What drivers have you tried installing , can you upload the .inf file for me to take a look?

And do not forget to test with only one 560 in the left slot. Because maybe the problem is in the power consumption and 560 becomes Standard VGA (maybe, IMHO)

I do not think so! The motherboards BIOS needs to boot the notebook and its Video board. After (and if) it boots we do not need motherboards BIOS. The Video BIOS is more important I think in this case (it boots!). Of course IMHO again.

I deleted the .inf file so cannot upload. I prescribed it id device drivers are installed, but after a reboot the screen flashes different colors, you can hear how load windows, skype and other programs, but the screen keeps flashing.
PS I used only one video card in the left slot.

IMHO the reason is not just the drivers
card manufacturer Clevo, bios video card too Clevo, i can try to flash the BIOS Dell, but I can not download it, broken link for download. When downloaded to try, but there is a chance that the card can turn into a brick.

All we do is experiment and guesses, needed here an answer 100% knowledgeable specialist, why?
    IMHO in the BIOS.

I don't know where are you trying to download your Dell vBIOS from but you can ask somebody here on the forum that has the card to simply dump his vBIOS and upload it.

Nobody can tell you if whatever card works in the M17x unless support was knowingly added(which is not the case, one can just hope) or tests were run. And from what i know nobody has done it before.

IMO even if you do brick it, you can try blind flashing after...at your own risk.

Back then, when the very first modded bios came out, people started to ask for video cards support, and the modder at that time said, there is no such a thing as a video card support in the BIOS. So that makes me think that the "key" is in the vbios. But I am not sure if you can actually flash a Clevo video card with a Dell's vbios. The good thing is you have the 9400M G so there is no need for a blind flash. But if you brick the card nobody can say for sure that flashing back the card will make it work, so please do your research before trying to flash your video card.

kyky, as long as the laptop boots with the card the problem has to be driver related, maybe because of the Clevo vBIOS too.

Here try this .inf file below, hope it works, no need to edit it, i already did.
Replace the original one in the nVIDIA drivers, download version 285.38
    here.

And when (if) you decide to flash vBIOS remember that you can plug 260M into left slot, 560M into right and begin to flash card in slot 1 (right). If something goes wrong then nothing will happens, you can start it again with another ROM.

The flash fails because you're changing ID's, therefore you'll have to force flash it.

That's normal, use nvflash to backup current vBIOS and to flash the other one.
You might have to use the force flash parameter.

Then ask somebody with a GTX 560 in a M17x R3 or a M18x to dump the vBIOS for you and then use nvflash to flash it on your card.

Agreed with Katalin, use Nvflash, and force the flash. And to get the vbios just make a post asking for Dell's GTX 560M vbios. (.bin, .rom)

That's right, also i would recommend the vBIOS to be extracted with nvflash, sometimes GPU-Z dumps can be corrupted, one in a 1000 but hey better safe than sorry ;)

Maybe, but the guy who modded the BIOS for R2, said there is no support, or lack in BIOS for video cards, which makes us think that the key will always be in the vbios.

Otherwise the GTX 285M, or the HD 5870 should not work on the R1. And they do. Other than that, I don't know if a GTX 560M from dell will do better. I remember Clevo HD 5870 didn't work on R1 at that time.

And how they make it to work?? I watched a thread yesterday of a guy who got a GTX 470M to work on a M15x, but he needed to mod vbios, specially Voltage section.

This reminds me when I flashed my GTX 280M to GTX 285M, the first attempt failed because I was using a wrong vbios.. The card was for sure compatible with the M17x, but the wrong vbios made the card to display the images all wrong, full on colored lines, and not working on 3D stuff. vbios is the KEY !! there is no reason why the card works on the M15x and not on the M17x R1.

I note in video card not change the voltage, it is on one level - 0.82
I do not know what VBIOS is needed, can be modified.

You can download Nibitor, and mod the vbios by your own. You can force the video card to be on all levels at the highest voltage (1.03 V, or something like that), you can also, change the vbios and make the card always runing on 3d mode. Don't give up ! :D You just need to do your own work because nobody in the world has tested a GTX 560M on a M17x R1, so nobody really can give you a working tested vbios.
