Have I just missed it, or has there not yet been anyone on this thread vouching for the ability of the 6970m OC'd to handle ultra settings?

Guys a good way of getting lots of performance without much image degradation is to turn off AA deferred. Using AA post high, although the image isn't as nice as real AA, it works well and there is hardly any performance hit.
-
bah....forget ultra settings.
I can't tell the difference between Ultra and High settings. I'm getting 45 fps avg on the Automatic settings ---> something like High on everything and Ultra on the textures.
Ultra settings on Multiplayer @ Metro gives me 25 fps avg ..not the smoothest
and I'm on 11.9 drivers. -

with the 6990m @ 1080p I get about the same fps on ultra...but it's not as smooth as the 6970m @ 900p on ultra. -
Yeah, I dropped reso to 1400 x 1050. Fixed everything. Now the jaggies are just scary noticeable.

just as the title says. the game crashes randomly during the game. it happens when im playing multiplayer and campaign. please help. -
-
does 11.10 preview drivers make a difference on FPS? currently on 11.9
-
I wish game developers wouldn't be so rushed to release things, though I understand in the labs they can't possibly run through every senario encountered and with the release bugs are expected to surface with the mass number of people playing and feedback making its way back to DICE.
-
I turned everything to high, turned off AA and ambient stuff it plays really well, I also turned off turbo in the phoenix menu, that help alot also for performance my system did get hot so im playing under the AC right now.
-
-
Just started playing multiplayer. Stock high settings (no changes from default). 40-50fps and very smooth. Looks like a ton of fun on 285.62.
1st time in a chopper, crash and burn in 5 seconds! -
Planes are so damn difficult. I wish they added something of the sort in the campaign to practise.
-
I don't get why people are having problems with the jets?? The first time I flew one of them, I didn't have any problems flying it. Maybe I am just use to the way the controls are made up?
-
I had major problems. Flying way off the map then getting show down. Guess I'm not used to the controls. How the hell do you steer that thing?
-
So far I have to say I am impressed. The graphics are a leap over BF2 and CoD:BO. The hit detection needs work, but things feel good over all. I can't wait to play more.
-
Almost every match I'm in, the game repeatedly hangs, about once every 2-10 seconds for about 1/2-3 seconds each time. This hanging is accompanied by ventrillo hanging as well, with the last thing said looping 3-5 times. Did/does anyone else have this issue? If so, how did you fix it?
-
just picked up an xbox and pc version. many sleepless nights coming soon hahah
-
No, no one is hacking in my game, Battlelog / Sign in
My best round so far, Battlelog / Sign in was able to knife 4 poor Blokes however I don't know where it shows that. -
Dang I need to step up my game
uninstalled CAP 3 and this game is smooth. I have everything on Ultra, no AA. Gotta turn off Ambient Occlusion as I don't like it. Glare, while makes it more real, reduces viability.
Also when I change settings in the game, visibility settings, it crashes. Freezes and I have to end task.
EDIT: Dang, started out well and the system locked up. First time tonight. These 6990s where an excellent investment -
Brings frustration to a whole new level. Its like walking around with a permanent flashbang pointed at you... -

Redeemed!! +rep & thanks!!

Hi guys,
Just got my Battlefield 3 from amazon uk just now.
From what I can tell, the graphics are really good, I haven't try multiplayer, but I have tried beta before.
It just that I have experienced a bit of lag, or maybe microstuttering when playing in crosssfire mode, strange thing is, my FPS never dipped below 35,
it averages on 40-50 outdoor, and indoor 60+, all ultra, anti aliasing deferred is off though.
I think it should be no microstuttering, when I play Metro2033 I got lower FPS but no microstuttering.
Btw, my cards are overclock to 800/1100. -
Try uninstalling the CAP. That helped for me.
-
Thanks DR!
I'll try that now. -
Yea, I played a night with the CAP and unistalled it after reading, than I played lastnight and it was smooth. I had 11.9 CAP 3 installed, and than removed the CAP 3 and it works well. I told darkloki about it and it seemed to worked for him as well.
Also, join the NBR Platoon and play with some NBR Peepz

THANKSSSS A LOT DR650SE!!
+1 rep!
It worked!
Now it does not stutter anymore, super smooth with everything ultra!
Glad to find out that CF HD5870M still kicking.
Btw no prob I will join NBR Platoon, so happy now. -
Sweet! Thats awesome, glad I'm not the only one with CAP issues and BF3. I hear the new drivers should be out by monday. 11.10 official ones.
Also don't forget this.

It'll give your dogtags an Alienware look I think, so the n00bs you pwn will know they didn't stand a chanceGotta represent!
-
Hell yeah that's true!
Dogtag redeemed, will try multiplayer later tonight. -
I don't understand this game, I use Orgins, Orgins to my knowledge had a dispute with steam over allowable updates and how they are distributed. So my game starts crashing I update my punkbuster. Super frustrated trying to figure out things I hit repair and to my amazement I find out I'm missing files. So why didn't Orgins update on it's own? I have to manually do this every time? (It was working fine last night) about 30mb update to my understanding.... actually 48mb after further research. So great a Patch came out, let's install it, except it is not registering the install. Frikcing Orgin man.. I mean Install, read to install, installing, ready to install, install, THIS is horrible, lol...... Hope you guys have run into this so you can give me some pointers. Am I really going to have to download 11 gigs again? So far Orgins IMO is a a POS when compared to steam as its' slower and way more buggy, lol. I just can't believe me entering a code for dog tags took the orgins system like 15 minutes to register. I get it everyone is downloading the patch updates and your server is slow and buggy. But basically you can't handle the traffic
Orgin's Customer Support is nice too, lol you go from 15 mins to 6 mins back to zero mins only to go back to 15 mins. Seems familiar like my install going from installing to ready to install to installing back to ready to install..... What a common theme...

For anyone who wants to utilize chat I HIGHLY suggest you DO NOT DO IT, and just go with phone call, they do in fact call you, as my phone call came before my chat support, I suppose due to internationals
Can't believe this I have to download 11.4 gigs all over again.... Some tech support right?
-
I just installed 11.9 over 11.6 (after uninstalling 11.6 of course, with driver sweeper, ccleaner and everything. For some reason, I can't get it to uninstall via the control panel).
Anyways, BF3 runs a LOT better now. Better framerates. Much better framerates. The weird thing is, only my secondary GPU is heating up and my main GPU is idling.
I tried the alt-tab trick (tab out, tab in) and it worked. Main GPU starts powering up. But the downside is, the ground in BF3 starts flickering. So I went into video settings and set it to auto-detect, then apply settings. When I tabbed back out, everything's all good again. But main gpu goes back to sleep. >.<
Help! lol.
EDIT: Fixed a typo. -
Weird, I am using exactly the same specs as yours, and also with 11.9 driver, my FPS is 40-60 (sometimes reach 80 indoor), all ultra with AA deferred off, have you deleted CAP3 like DR said?
Btw I overclocked my cards to 800/1100.
Also if you experiencing flickering, try lowering your brightness in CCC, maybe to -8 or -10, it solves the flickering issues for me for all games. -
I have like the Same PC as both of you guys and I'm experiencing alot of VIDEO lag when I go in scope and out of scope not sure what the deal is but it's annoying.
-
I never experienced that, well at least I have experience terrible microstutter before I uninstalled CAP3.
Now it's supersmooth, btw I'm still playing campaign, I will try multiplayer after finishing the campaign. -

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
11.9 CAP 4
I am running 11.9 CAP 4 plus the 11.10 Preview 3 drivers and I am having no issues with performance or stuttering.
-
I'm running a single GPU 6990m and I am having micro-stuttering while playing BF3 and Crysis 2
... Dell just replaced this card for me. I get awesome FPS but am getting micro stutters. Even in low settings...

So the new cap 4 has helped alot, I run all high and see a great improvement, in tandem with throttlestop I have had a great experience today, some server issues but not too bad, this is all during MP.
-
Nice, I played a bit lastnight.
For the life of my I can't fly anything! Kamakazi in the jets, IN the choppers I lift off, pitch left, crash, and kill guys on my team. hahaha. I'm the worst teammate ever! lol -
yeah man I saw a chopter last night i was alone in the area got in....died in 3 seconds lol. I dont get the chopter/plane controls but its pretty cool to try once in awhile.
-
Yea it is. Then I kept spawing in them and dying. Once I figured out a little how to move, I didn't know enough to menuver the vehicles, I just went all kamikazi. It was awesome lol.
