i assume so. Someone else in a review has a 17.3 inch laptop. It is sold by Amazon so you can return it if you have an issue.

That Samsonite backpack looks really good. Better than the Pegasus I'm inclined to buy. It appears there is not much choice when it comes to backpacks/bags for huge machines like the AW17 (not including the Alienware-branded ones which I don't want because I'd prefer not to advertise what's inside)

    hi

I cant return it, because Im at APO, and 17R4 is not with me.... Im only checking and asking ... maybe somebody have experience...
I already have slappa shoulder bag, and shoulder bag is bad choice.... because, you can only use it for documentation and laptop.
backpack is much better option becaseu it have more room and additional space

I searched through 60+ pages and didn't find a whole lot of info on this particular product.

So in the process of my exchange on my R4 Alienware has offered me a free gift as compensation for all the trouble, and so I chose the Vindicator Briefcase bag as compensation. I already have an Orion M17X backpack and i love it but I just like the looks of the briefcase/messenger bags and have been thinking about getting one for awhile.

    So without further adieu!

Overall it is a very nice and clean looking bag with a clean and polished look IMO, the surfaces feel very well crafted and sturdy and the craftsmanship seems really good. The bag comes with 3 separate compartments with smaller compartments in each larger section.

The first compartment is the main section that will carry the laptop. The sides have straps that you can clip or come aprt depending on how far you want the bag to open, you can open it like a file folder or you can open it right up and make it "Check-point friendly" although depending on which country and which security screener you get may vary on whether or not this is accepted, some people make it through without having to take the computer out and others do not and have to unpack it.

The Second compartment has your tablet sleeve which is lined with nice soft .... fur? I don't know exactly what it is but it is pretty soft and won't scratch your screen  . This compartment does not open up all the way like the first, but it open up most of the way again like a file folder and provides easy access to the whole compartment.

As you can see in the 3rd picture there is a large compartment on the front that can also be opened up for extra storage. There is one of these in the large notebook section as well.

The 3rd compartment is going to be your main storage compartment more then likely, as it contains the bulk of the small compartment where you would commonly store things like your mouse, external HDD and other small devices. This compartment also contains a spot to store your headset so that it is held in place, as well as USB / flash drive and pen storage compartments.

You also get this power adapter bag so that the adapter isn't getting marked up by your gear or even marking up any gear that might share it's place.

The main concern that I had as soon as I got the bag was that the laptop sleeve that the laptop is supposed to go into for storage seemed a little small...even looking at it then over at the laptop it just didn't look big enough although they do say that this was designed with the new 17 in mind, and as such the R4 may have different dimensions. My new R5 gets here next week probably so this entire section is subject to change as I will test the new laptop when it gets here.

Yep...not promising , but again, could be designed for the new model and might fit that better. EDIT : After getting the new 17, it still does not fit :( but I just use the main compartment and my sleeve so it really does not bother me all that much. Others have also said they don't have this problem so it could be random bad luck on my part.

It fits! But holy did it take some force and it has to be at just the right angle, and even once you get it in there it is TIGHT. I presume that if I were to use it enough it would stretch out and become easier to use but I can see a lot of people just giving up and saying it does not fit, which I guess if you have to use this much effort to get it to fit then it really doesn't....

It is also so tight that any additional equipment such as a mouse adapter won't fit with the laptop, needless to say that my neoprene sleeve that I store the computer in won't fit in there...

So I don't use the actual laptop storage area...I just stick the sleeve and all in the main compartment and ignore the notebook holder, it isn't going anywhere.

All in all , I like the bag so far and have been using if for about a week. I like the design, which IMO is really clean and professional looking, and even though you have the customary Alienware logo's and insignia's on the bag itself I don't find that they are over bearing or flashy, in fact most people probably wouldn't even know what it was if they saw it. There is lots of storage depending on how much you want to pack around and how big it all is. With my headset in there and the power adapter it gets tight but the same happens when I try to load it all in the Orion backpack as well. I can actually fit just as much in this as I can the backpack.

The laptop compartment was a bit of a disappointment as the laptop has to be forced in to make it fit , although it may stretch out over time? I would be more worried about ripping a seam on it and causing damage if it is forced to much, and I have to remove the micro receiver for my mouse to use this slot....I would much rather just use my neoprene sleeve and have it sit in the main overall compartment instead of the specific holder. Although this is a down side I don't consider it a deal breaker at all , it isn't like the laptop won't go in there at all, and it is not lined with any super soft material so regardless as to where it goes it isn't going to be any more or less protected. AGAIN!!! this bag was designed for the new 17 and not the R4 so maybe the new 17 would fit better :) I will let you all know when the new one gets here.

The shoulder strap is sturdy and feels quite well made, I would have no worries carrying all my gear around with any concern of it breaking. It is quite comfortable to carry around if you have it over one shoulder have it hanging on the same side, not so much if you pull it over your head and have it across your chest and sitting on the opposite side , although maybe if there was less equipment in there and just had the computer and the adapter it might not be as bad but then whats the point? The handles that you can use to pick up and carry the computer also feel quite sturdy and well made, there is no stretch and or flex in the material and it seems quite firm and sturdy, no concerns here at all.

All in all I feel the bag is a good investment for anyone that is looking for something to transport their Alienware or any other notebook around for that matter. The price tag is pretty decent IMO as most other brand bags that offer the same amount of space and design are just as expensive or in some cases more.

In the long run it is a good bag and I like it, although it can come up short on space if you want to pack a lot of extras around.

I give this bag.... 4/5 Alienware heads! because every review is better with some sort of score ... right?

After reading this entire thread, and a bunch of other info on Amazon, etc...I went with the Tom Binh Super Ego.
Super Ego - Our largest laptop messenger bag. Holds a ton of stuff. Built to last. - TOM BIHN

For the laptop sleeve, I am using the Tom Binh Horizontal Brain Cell.
    The Horizontal Brain Cell

The XXL size fits the AW17 perfectly.

The build quality of Tom Binh gear is exceptional. YKK Aquaguard zippers, Poron handles, 1050 denier ballistic nylon and lifetime warranty.

I carry my AW17, power adapter, X360 controller, Corsair mouse, manuals for work, Ultimate Ears headphones, flashlight, and assorted odds and ends.

I'll post some pics as soon as I have a good place to do so.

Hi, following another member's request and after a bit delay I post herewith my M17x R4 in a Shapeshifter bag, standing in my great bed desk and guarded by my dobermann. I am very happy with all four.

    Hey guys,

does any of you know if these two backpacks fit the 2013 Alienware 17?

Swissgear Pegasus: Amazon.com : Wenger 17" SwissGear Pegasus Computer Backpack - Black/Blue : Laptop Computer Backpacks : Computers & Accessories

Swissgear Carbon: Amazon.com: SwissGear Carbon II Black Notebook Backpack-Fits Apple Macbook Pro 15 inch and 17 inch: Electronics

I like the Carbon more for the colors, but obviously size is more important. I've read every review and watched every video and even asked the company but I'm getting conflicting answers. Can anyone help?

No, they won't fit well. It will be a very tight fit, if anything. You'll need a backpack for 18" notebooks - Everki Beacon or Everki Titan.

That's what I'm afraid of, but I have people from Swissgear on record saying that it (the Carbon, which is supposedly the smallest of the two) will fit when I gave them exact measurements for the AW17. I don't know if I can trust them and the odd review online.

I'd prefer to avoid the two Everki models if I can, they're too big.

See for example these reviews of the Swissgear Pegasus on Amazon UK:

But then you find people ready to swear it's not big enough, just like you said. So I don't know what the truth is.

All right guys, sometimes when nobody can help you just gotta take a chance, so I ordered the Swissgear Pegasus for my AW17 and I've come here to report my findings in the hope that someone else can benefit from my trailblazing.

So I can confirm the Swissgear Pegasus ( Amazon.com : Wenger 17" SwissGear Pegasus Computer Backpack - Black/Blue : Laptop Computer Backpacks : Computers & Accessories) fits the Alienware 17 (2013) in its laptop compartment without any hassle. Ideally it could do with a couple of centimeters more height, since it comes close to the top of the backpack where the zippers come together. But they don't touch the laptop or anything. Just don't drop something on top of the backpack since the upper side is exposed beneath the thin layer (the sides are well padded, though).

    Hope it helps! Cheers.

Yeah, I have looked at the titan, while I like it, and think it looks great... the price just kills me... not to mention my wife would really kill me.

Maybe one of the sub-$100 everki bags might do.

i found 3 bags that can hold/accommodate and also protect all AW17 with this dimension 11.7"x16.3"x1.9".

    1.targus drifter II 17-inch TSB234 US (BLACK/GRAY)
Laptop Segment (W x L x H): 2.17 x 12.60 x 16.50" (55.11 x 320.04 x 419.10 mm). it is very roomy and well padded from its side and down the bottom, can fit the ever bulky power supply nicely, more room for a day old clothes or for headphones/cooling pad and other gaming peripherals and a variety of pockets to suit your needs.highly recommend price is beyond 50-60ish very average.

    2. SwissGear SA1923 ScanSmart Backpack - Black
same with targus itcan fit an AW17 2013 nicely also well paded, tons of pockets to choose from, main compartment can accommodate 2 lappy maybe another 14 incher laptop, average space 2nd compartment/ it should accommodate the power supply and some gaming peripherals. price is mehh im tracking this baby for almost a month now and I'd remembered perfectly the price should be 56-60ish but yesterday it went up to 80.i don't have major complains rather than its current price but its highly recommended.

3 SwissGear SA1908 ScanSmart Backpack (Black) 17 Inch Laptops
same with SA1923 it can fit an AW17 2013 quite nicely all well padded from the sides and bottom. main compartment can accommodate 2 lappy maybe another 14 incher laptop, average space 2nd compartment/ it should accommodate the power supply and some gaming peripherals. same with the SA1923 this baby cost a fortune 80ish, same with SA1923 I dont have major complains rather than its mehhh price.

My alienware vindicator bag has finally torn a strap so I decided to get a new bag.

I picked up a everki glide. I must say its a nice bag, holds most things I need, but has a few things I think it still needs.

First off, I will tell you what i have fit into the bag.

    alienware 17
    charger
    logitech g502 mouse
    logitech g430 headset
    razer earbuds
    small mouse pad
    bose sound link mini
    ipod nano
    eithernet cable
2 deck boxes with magic cards
    flashlight
    knife
    pens
    usb drives
    digi camera and charger

Everything fits well and I still have more space to fit more things. My only gripe with the bag is the lack of a headphone holder. I fit the headphone perfect right in front of the laptop above the charger, but I wish there was a small strap to hold the headphones up.
My other problem is the lack of a media device pocket (ipod, iphone, iwhatever) I dont wear headphone often in my day to day life, but I would love if I had a place for my ipod and headphones when I travel.

I was going to get the everki titan, but the price tag being $100 more than this $80 glide backpack ($180) was a little hard to justify.

Overall I give the bag a good slanted thumb in the upward dirrection. I would of given it a full thumbs up, but the lack of media pocket and headphone holder took away some stars.

I will try to get some pictures of the bag with my computer in it soon.
Anyone who is interested in this bag, let me know what you carry I can try to find something like those items and see how they fit in the bag.

rakuten some times has a good price on it. Personally i was disappointed in the titan. lacked cool pockets that the beacon had. Couldn't ever find a seamstress that could modify it for me. The local ones dont have industrial enough machines to do it i guess :/

I did want the titan, but between the price and the over all size, I just couldnt do it.

THe glide is nice and slim, yet still holds my day to day items. Travel I can swap out the 17 for my m14x or m11x to get some of my space back.

I will say, this thing is very very comfortible on your back. Its soft and contours to my nerdy shape (poor posture)
