I just got my PC and I am so mad, it's been used before. There are fingerprints everywhere, the back has scratches and there was no plastic sheet cover for the keyboard. The manual is missing 10 pages... Pages are torn, the PC is dusty... I AM PISSED

Use the phrase disrespecting the customers because that's what it is. A friend of mine got his and it wouldn't even power on.

I just hope that it's not the Logan guy that screwed me over with the 12% discount not telling me that he was selling me a refurbished. Would it say on the invoice if it was a refurb?

Wow Joe I'm sorry to hear you got a wrong computer. :(

This is the Team Blackhawk page on Facebook:

There you can find "Logan at Dell". It says they work during the weekend as well. I'm sure it was a mistake. Crossing my fingers. :)

Hey np. Yeah there is no way he deliberately sent a refurb since you clearly ordered crossfire - and they don't exist as refurbs.... yet. Unless you came from the future and the bottom plate says "Dirty Scrubz" :p :D

I can only imagine how it felt opening it... but it will work out. The Blackhawk team seems relatively good.

I just don't want that laptop. I want a new one. The palm rest is not even the same color tome than the rest of the PC. It's like on my R1 slightly used and scratched. It's absolutely crazy.

Sorry Joebarchuck, It's seems to me that you get a (baddly) refurbished one. Some years ago I get twice, one after the other, two refurbished instead of a brand new "virgin" machine... :( It's a shame!!! for a company like Dell.

    Here guys some pics...

The pics are taken after opening box and turning on PC. I have never seen such crap in my life... The PC came used with dust, the plastic cover on the keyboard and screen were both missing. My whole experience is just ruined.

    Dead Pixel:

    Power Adapter:

Palm Rest: you can see it was used before.

Palm Rest: you can see color difference. My M17X R1 has none whatsoever.

    Scratched Back:

Manual and Sticker: The manual is missing about 10 pages, the sticker was obviously used before...

No doubt that this is a refurbished.
Joker also get what's seem to be a refurb machine:"You guys should inspect your new systems carefully. I was looking over mine today and noticed the paint on the front was about to chip off. I barely touched it with my finger and off it came..."
    So, what's that telling us?
I also would like to know (if some "officials" at Dell/AW are reading this forum pages) what is the testing procedures BEFORE they box/ship a machine like this?
I try to found the details of the process (if there is one at all) but didn't find... maybe someone can orient me? :(

Mine was bought as a bright new system. I think what happened is that they had lot's of refurbs and they tried to just give them away.

This PC is going back and I will order in a few weeks again to make sure they have cleaned their inventory of refurbs. I am in complete shock.

I asked for a new system too, so I better not get a refurb, especially considering I ordered 5/17 and it still has not even shipped yet. If I get a refurb I am gonna raise hell with Dell!

Yeah, Joe, I would escalate your complaint to a manager, because you paid for a new system, not for a refurb!!! This is simply, quite unacceptable.

Yep agreed. I just don't understand what the heck happened there. If the PC was a flawless refurb I would be mad but not like right now. Dead pixel, manual has been used a million times and is missing pages, scratches, etc... That's just too much. I feel like this was the PC of a tech guy there and he got mine and shipped out his thinking I would not say anything.

    I know how you feel.
Mine arrived on Wed with 3 dead pixels right in the middle of the screen and I already ordered a replacement the same day. I thought I've been unlucky but apparently it's Dell who keeps dropping the ball. This is my third M17x this year and they all came with some defects, so I had to return them. If my replacement arrives with any flaws in it, I'm raising hell. For the price we pay, these systems should be delivered in perfect condition. It seems that all these returned systems might be somehow sold as new to other people. That's really not cool!

Damn Joe, that's worse than what happened with mine! Sorry to hear bud! My system's paint rubbed right off and the part where it rubbed off seems dented a bit. Given the lack of performance and heat of the 5870s, I'm likely returning mine for a full refund and keeping my R2 with 4870s. This headache just isn't worth it IMO. Honestly, I'm almost considering getting a Clevo at this point, I just wish they had a metal chasis and I'd be all over it.

man you guys got me worried with my replacement coming pretty soon from the states. When I receive it im doing a thorough Eye of mordor on my system im not leaving anything unlooked but at the same time if its so small that i would hardly notice, ill keep it for the time being until i get home for a speedy replacement without all the hassle of my fam sending it to me in iraq, again.

I am still an Alienware fan and mistakes happen but it looks like this is not a mistake more the acts of a company that just does not care.

Joe, Joker (and everybody suffering/interested): This is why I have insisted in asking for some reliable info (not just opinions) on the post-production testing/boxing processes at Dell/AW. Customers have the right to know, especially when the prices (and expectations) go so high, what exactly is going on with their orders/investment. Buying Dell's AW can't be as buying some fast (or junk) foods...

If it is not a replacement then that is very fraudulent on Dell's part. Did they install the nameplate you specified on the bottom of the laptop? If so, I would think that would show they had intent to give you a used system. If not however, then it could be that yours was mixed up with a refurb replacement system. It seems also that Joker received a laptop that was probably dinged during assembly rather than being a refurb. Both of your situations are very unfortunate.

Good point. If there's your own nameplate on the bottom, and the invoice shows you ordered a new system - the proper name for that would be 'an attempt of a fraud'.
