My replacement order just went through for the R2 with 5870s. Hopefully there won't be any touch up paint on the aluminum frame this time.

So my customer service rep emailed me back and told me that my order has been escalated and she got her Senior Management at Dell to look further into my case so I hope I get it by next week. Yes yes Rule #1 Never believe what anyone from Dell tell you but this is how I will get by for the next week now. At least it was a very detailed email instead of something on the line like "We are sorry, we don't have any information." :D
*Lakers are on the roll right now. Dominating Celtics! :p Go Lakers!*

Yeah i'm crossing my fingers..though I now wish I'd gotten mine with an i520 and then grabbed a 940 ES off ebay. Oh well, guess the 820 will have to suffice. :D And yes, The Todd cannot be replaced.

I just checked my order status, it has just reached the boxing stage. When I checked last night around 7pm PST it was still in the build stage. I hope I can receive my order by next week but the EDD hasn't changed, still says June 14th. Now I know it's a big laptop but it can't take that long to be in boxing right?

Got a phone call this afternoon that my m17x will be arriving on Tuesday morning.

I'm looking forward to this after having had an XPS m1710 since they were released a few years ago. I daresay there's going to be a huge jump in the quality and performance I'm accustomed to.

I've been chatting back and forth with erwaneila. The engineers are very much aware of the issues but want me to provide them with logged readings of the throttling taking place. Since I've only observed it during overclocking and only then with Vantage, I may not really have much of a case to present to them. They are going to correct the driver issue by letting AMD know about it so that the 5870 XF can run reference ATi drivers in the future.

They're also looking in to the performance vs 4870s and again, they'll need more data from me which I've been supplying. The good thing is they're listening and wiling to take action if there is cause for it. Overall I'm happier now with the 5870s than I initially was. The lack of throttling in games is a relief and the performance overall has been good.

My R2 shipped with touch up paint on the aluminum frame that flaked off (it's gotten worse since I first took the picture). They're sending a replacement + $50 back for the trouble.

Had to cancel my previous order that was in boxing but I placed a new order again. I was able to get a better deal but it required me to cancel and go through the whole order process again. Basically, what I was able to get was the same system I was going to buy but with the 3yr. advanced warranty for only $40 more from my canceled ordered price with the 1yr advanced.

I know it might not be a big deal for some but I really wanted the 3yr. advanced warranty from the beginning. So it was worth it for me at least.

I ordered my R2 on the 28th of May, it arrived today on the 5th of June... that's almost too fast... :\

Anyways, figured it'd come while I'm on my lunch break, guess I"ll have to wait until 4pm to open it up and see how it is!!!

Hope they didn't forget to put anything inside...

I was offered a new replacement by the Dell tech who told me it would take up to 21 business days to send it. This seems like a long time since it only took 1 week to get my laptop when I first ordered it. Back to Dell it goes. I will reorder after I get my refund.

ugh, I had my replacement processed on the 4th of June and a rep I just spoke with in Customer Care just said my EDD is July 16th. Hopefully it can arrive sooner than that.

On top of that the order status page is showing that I'm going to get Windows 7 Home Premium on my new system whereas my old system had Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm afraid to call in and ask them to fix it because I know they're going to delay the delivery if I do :p

Wait July 16th? ? Why is it so late? You sure it's not JUNE 16th? I configured the same specs and EDD was June 21st. Is it a replacement? Even if it is a replacement, it shouldn't take that long. You should complain to a customer service rep. I complained and they expedited my order and got into boxing stage the next day. It shouldn't take 6 weeks to build your laptop since there is no signs of delay on the website.

I called customer care and they gave me the July 16th date, It is a replacement. I'm very hopefully that I was merely talking to a moron and was just given a random date she found on my profile (which has happened a few times in the past).

If not then July 16th it is :(

What the hell.. Isn't Joker's replacement coming in like 2-3 weeks? And yours is taking 6 weeks? I say call up and complain. Tell them it was their fault for sending a faulty laptop in the first place and you won't wait 6 weeks to get a replacement. Keep complaining and eventually they'll work with you.

My order was placed on June 4th, I don't know why mine has to take so long :( At least however yours is on the truck ready for delivery sometime in the next couple days. I can only really hope to be so lucky at this point. I find with replacement dell has no idea whats going on with them until they arrive at your door. It really is a poor tracking system they have in place for replacement notebooks.

Hopefully I get some updates soon and I'll have a TRUE delivery date but for now I have to go with whatever this person told me which is July 16th.

I just received my unit. Everything seems to be normal. No dings or any problems. My keyboard feels more stiff than the previous M17x. Or maybe I'm just used to the computer I was using in between... Bah. Scored ~12800 on GPU with Vantage run. Seems normal.
