M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

Yeah just had mine the same as yours FWD, its sitting in City of Industry and shows NBD but not til the 15th, meh.

 

Let it be in tomorrow for both of us, rather then the wrath to come down on the false advertising of NBD lol.

 

Mine is still in the build stage. Ordered last Friday around 11am. Hopefully it will ship sometime within the next week. Congrats to those who have received theirs!

After my SNAFU of ordering an R2 and canceling, the R3 is ordered through AAFES. The only problem is I couldn't customize my name plate and still looking for contact info to let them know what I want on my name plate. Not a huge deal but would look FUBAR if it was blank!!!

When I ordered it said 3/28. Now says 4/4 EDD. I sure hope things speed up.
Now says 4/5 EDD

 

Just saw 1 420-9956 Vista PC Restore. what is this??? if I have windows 7?

Well, by now, I've learned that Dell is the definition of ambiguity. FedEx is the same. I've had lots of trouble with FedEx and DHL. UPS rules.

It's possible you could get them to make you one after and ship it too you. Otherwise I dont think its completely blank, it should just say 'm17x' I believe if its not customized.

Going to be calling Dell CSR and seeing whats up if I don't hear "shipped" by 3pm. 72 hours in "Delivery Preparation" is a little excessive.

If you have a sales rep. that would be a better place CS realy sucks all they will tell you is what you see on the web page.

 

About to head out but:

We ordered around the same specs (same cpu, gpu, blu-ray, wireless)

Is it possible they were out of one of the specialty items? (I am guessing blu-ray or wireless)

I just called Dell and the person I got said that they can't change the order. I would have to cancel and reorder. I said it's not like the computer is shipping tomorrow. It's going to be at least a week if not 3 weeks before it ships. He once again stated that it had to be canceled and asked if I wanted him to cancel it for me. I said no, DO NOT CANCEL, and then I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me the supervisor was in a meeting.

Also told him I already waited 2.5 days to order as the name plate was not able to be customized. So now it's 5 days after when it could have been ordered.

Almost forgot my favorite part- After I got on the phone with him and told him I was unable to customize he said so you forgot to customize. No I said it was un-available on the website when I ordered. That is why I waited 2.5 days. LOL Where does dell find these people?

 

I just have to say LOL...somtimes people get thier systems early. But i am seeing so much anger and no one is even close to thier ESD yet. you can not expect to get you system early, just be happy if you do. Most everyone will get thier system some kind of early. bugging the dell reps excessively is like pissing off a waiter, they are gonna spit in your food.

 

How does the nameplate attach? just a few screws? Maybe I just order and pay for it and change it after I get the computer. If I can't con them into sending me one.

I really can't cancel and reorder because my HP just crapped out and it's not even one of the models covered in the nVidia scandal.
Right now I'm a dinosaur of a laptop that belongs to my gf daughter. OmniBook 6000 by HP, with windows 2000 on it. have to make sure you it every key hard or they don't register. To top it off, the back space doesn't work so you have to use arrow keys and the Delete key. I don't think I will be able to handle this for a month. Takes me 5 times as long to type something on here. I feel like a cave man that learned how to type. I can type ~100 words a min, I think I'm down to ~20 a min on this thing.

 

I'm not trying to get mine early I just wanted to get the name plate fixed. I do hope it comes early though I will go out my mind on this computer.

 

Wasnt directed at you.....my rep told me that the nameplate doesnt deley anything...i concidered not getting one customized for that reason....and ya, it jsut screws in.

 

I think I will just try to get them to send me a correct one and then change it out myself.

I wouldn't think the name plate would delay anything as it takes less than 5 min to engrave something. It's taking them weeks to build, surely in that time frame they should be able to get a nameplate on in under ten min. (to include engraving it)

 

You should know that EDD usually means nothing but a far far date so if there is any problem that delays the shipment you cant complain and get compensation like free mouse, etc.

 

I figured that out a while ago when people were getting their systems 1-2 weeks earlier than their EDD.

 

Yeah, a lot of people outside NBR dont know that and they'll mostly be happy because they got their computers before EDD. EDD is clearly something to make buyers "disappointed first, happy later"

But for people who are in need of a new computer, a late EDD might push them to order another brand. In this case that EDD is not a smart idea

 

I got mine on march 8, I ordered it on jan 28 runs fine but having trouble with getting 3d movies to play

actually they do ship on saturdays.

 

Oh really? Then NBD really doesn't make any sense.

 

standard home delivery ships Saturday as well as specific Saturday delivery. the nbd dell uses is mon-fri only which is why I choose standard.

UPDATE:

AAFES appears unable to get a response from Dell on the issue of the wrong graphics card. I called Dell myself to see if I could get this process out of the mud and moving along. I got transferred about 5 times to different departments, then was given the name of someone I needed to speak to who, of course, won't be in until Tuesday.

From the wonderful conversations I had with the various Dell reps, it does not appear to me as though they will swap the part out. So, unless AAFES can magically come through on that point it looks like I'll be boxing this machine back up and returning it, then ordering a new one with the video card I requested...waiting a month. Bleh. Not happy about that.

I really like the machine though. The build quality is awesome, lights are awesome, screen is awesome. The 460M is very good too, so anyone who ordered that you won't be disappointed. The only thing I did not like is with the Alien FX. I have not found the ability to Dim the LEDs so they aren't quite as bright, and also you can't completely turn it off. The media keys are always lit, and the trackpad is always lit unless you turn it off via Fn+F12.

Overall though, A+.

 

LOL What a joke. I just called and actually got someone who sounded American. After giving ALL of my info and being asked to hold I waited 5 minutes and was promptly hung up on mid-hold.

Why am I suddenly feeling that the sexy Origin PC was a better choice than this? I wasn't even rude, I was actually NICE even.

Oh - And I just checked my email again. Spam folder has 3 ads from Dell but nothing about my order. *facepalm*

EDIT: Just called back hoping to actually get someone and the same person picked up telling me to call back in 30 minutes because of "Server Downtime"

 

Dude, no offense but you need to seriously chill out. Dell already upgraded your shipping, give it a rest. I'm sure it will get there soon enough. Learn to have patience. It seems some other forum members have been waiting since January.

 

ordered on feb 23rd and today my phone status has changed to... dun dun dun daaaaaa.... "Build Stage" oh wait.. thats not a change at all.... EDD 3/21.

 

Ordered on 3/4 around noon EST and status just changed to shipped today. My rep must have made a mistake and put in 2 day shipping instead of NBD so it won't arrive until the 15th. I just noticed that online, too late to correct now.

ordered 3/3 i do not know who is delivering mine or do i have a tracking # Maybe a dell rep is going to deliver it and tell me i won the millionth costomer reword and i get it free LOL

 

Mine finally shipped after four days in delivery prep. Key is to just be patient. Got an email saying it was shipped and I'll get it tomorrow.

When I click on my rder number and sighn in... my Bill To: and Ship to boxes say N/A ... Is that normal???


Poop... there it also says "in production" but when I call th eorder hotline, she tells me, being processed? WT???? AAA

 

My "Bill To" and "Ship To" were also marked NA so this seems to be normal.

My status online said "In Production" and went straight to "Shipped" with no Boxing or delivery prep stage. Right now it is looking like roughly 1 week from order to shipped on a lot of orders.

 

Yes, I Did get a tracking number.

I dont understand how both of ours shipped today and we both have NBD shipping and mine is coming on monday. ughhhhhhhh
