M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

I don't know who it will be returned to yet. AAFES Rep said they're still waiting on a response from Dell and to hang out. I gotta work everything through AAFES, since I can't get anyone at Dell who will touch it.

My hope is AAFES will work magic and I'll get the part shipped to me. My expectation is they'll receive a negative response from Dell, and then I get to return it and reorder, and jump through a few hoops to get the same deal I did the first time.

Just gotta wait and see.

Ugh just called Fedex to ask them why my overnight delivery did not come overnight. And they said there was a problem in Georgia -_- and that it will come Monday...figures this would happen to me. Wats 2 more days wen ive been waiting since the 27th of January >_<

 

Just received and email that my new order has been shipped and will be here Tuesday. Basically, I pulled the "post 21 day" return due to recall, scratched screen and a burning desire to upgrade (from 2720/460m to 2820/6970). Will send the old one back upon the receipt of the new one (new box supposedly has the shipping label for the old box).

Should be able to quickly compare the pre- and post-recall units before sending back the old one. I just hope there will be no blemishes and issues with the new one.

Now need to get a decently/professionally looking messenger bag.

 

Dell and FedX did their part i'm just waiting for the USPS to do theirs.

After reading this Thread i was also on the wait since i ordered on the January 24th.The Edd went to 04/15 and i was cool as long i get a perfect one.
Decided to send an email on monday asking about my order and suddenly my order was shipped on tuesday,the next day.I was stocked.2 days later here was Fedex.
Well ,i dont know if was a good idea remember them about my order but all i can say is that i got a refurbished and here are the reasons why:
inside box had no tape.
Mouse pad ,power adapter was misplaced and the plastics felt old.
The R3 came inside the winkled sleeve.
little scratch on the red lid.
Smudges and palm marks on the palm area.
So,called tech today and system is down for 4 hours great.
Will call again later
I paid for a brand new one i want a brand new one!!

Other than that i did a test drive here and all i can say is:
Screen is AWESOME
3D is Awesome with some get used to .
The keyboard have a good amount of flex
The Dell Wifi N is really good ,i am impressed.

 

Wholeheartedly agree! You are certainly paying for a new one - Not a refurbished one. They do this type of thing with mobile phones in Oz and it really s#@ts me.

Got dangit I'm still stuck with EDD 3/30! I keep getting bs emails from the csr and his supervisor saying that they're trying to get it expedited. BS BS BS!

I dunno thats wat the fed ex customer service guy fed me. Watever i best get used to waiting. Military is all hurry up and wait lol. And no u cant change the alienhead lights they stay white on this model

dookie, just be patient . i know it's the hardest thing, especially considering that you've been on the hook since january 28th (27th night pacific time) and already paid twice (it's hard not to follow your story ) but i have a feeling you're gonna get yours much before the EDD stated. please keep in mind that the proverbial watched pot never boils (trust me, i was calling 800-alienwa almost hourly to no avail and all the changes that happened to my status occurred during the times of me NOT calling regularly, like when i was in meetings back to back all day).

Tell you what: how about a little wager? i bet you $10 that your status WILL change to "shipped" by next saturday night

 

The wait is finally getting to me too, so I decided to join the thread. I placed my order on January 12th. Yes the 12th. About 12 days later my order finally shipped. Moments later my order went back into production and then cancelled. Oh crud right? A couple minutes later a new order showed up and had the same specs but overnight shipping was added for free and now my order was due on Feb. 17th and not the 3rd. I was confused and floored so I called and no one knew what happened. Just once the first order is cancelled it can't be sent to me. Well I said things happened but now since the order was being remade, why am I now getting charged $250 more than everyone else since my computer was now getting made at the same time? So they cancelled this mysterious new order and made another one with a better price. Well it was going to be a couple weeks more to get my laptop but I was getting a price break.

Next day I get an email and am told that my original order got cancelled because the shipping truck got in an accident and my computer was destroyed and they cancelled that order and expedited the new order and blah blah blah. So now I know what happened to my first order. The reorder with the better price only had a day extra EDD. So no biggienot getting expedited.

Two days later Intel announces the recall. Now my order is to arrive on March 29th. So Gents, don't get too antsy. At least it hasn't been 2 months since you placed your order.

 

LOL This is so true, just like waiting to order I started losing hope and just stopped caring / checking...It sucks but eventually your surprise will be that much more when you get a delivery notice in the email that beats the EDD.

 

Waiting for two laptops sucks. Having spent around $3500 and not having either laptop in my hands hurts my feelings. But hey, upgrading from an HP dv7-1270us to an Asus G53JW and Alienware m17x r3 is pretty awesome. The waiting game is a game I hate to play tho.

 

Dang, didn't know THAT many people knew my story. It's the craziest thing that's ever happened to me in making any online purchase. The other crazy story I had was when I ordered a labtec (pre-logitech takeover) headset, and it was shipped by DHL to my college mailbox. It was lost, never came. Then I called and called and called, and the seller (ebay) said that it was already sent out. I called the school post office, and they said it arrived, but got lost somewhere at their facility. So I took the campus school bus to the on-campus postoffice, and asked for it. After 10 minutes of asking around, the receptionist came back and told me that it wasn't anywhere, and told me to wait some more while she looked around. Lo and behold, 5minutes pass, and her supervisor comes out, and tells me that it was sitting on his desk. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I says to him (minus the cursing). So I basically waited like 2 weeks for like a $5 computer headset, which ended up breaking like less than a month after

3/30 still. Sheesh. I haven't called since the day I reordered (3/3). Hopefully you guys are right.

 

Yeah I had that date when I ordered 3/3. I asked if they could give me better shipping, they gave me NBD for free and it went to the 25th... then it said shipped on 3/11/11 and would arrive 3/17/11 (really thats next business day?) when I checked FedEx they said 3/15/11... weird to wait that long for something that came from cali to washington on priority...

 

NBD means absolutely nothing, especially if the EDD is a whole month away almost, from your order date.

 

^^^^ This. Dell "saved some money" by promising NBD and going with ground. Did it to a lot of other people too. Wouldn't trust it.

 

Ground eh? Ground to CA is okay, since the facilities are relatively close to me. If you're elsewhere in the States, then we should go egg Dell's house, cuz NBD is a sham.

 

I got lucky and am only 1 1/2hr from the warehouse but they did the same to other people who were less fortunate.. They're stuck waiting until Mon/Tues/Weds.

Newegg does the same thing and it really irks me.. I can understand wanting to save money but a lot of times the "estimated delivery date" on ground shipping just isn't accurate enough to validate replacing overnight/nbd with.

 

How many days is "ground" vs. "nbd"? Or are you talking about the same thing?

Also, newegg is in City of Industry; UPS is in Baldwin Park; FedEx is supposedly in City of Industry; I'm in San Gabriel. So delivery should almost same day (or the next) as its arrival into the USA, right?

 

I meant that if Newegg (or Dell) sees "Estimated Delivery: XX (Next day)" for ground they will automatically select ground to save costs.

Ground can take a maximum of 5-7 days while NBD is what its called

I got my system in one day as well shipped on the 11th and i got it on the 12th the only thing i have not tried out yet is the 3d. i have nothing to test it with for right now.

Did anyone else get this? I had my tracking info until this morning and its supposed to be here tomorrow....

 

My system's shipping has been... weird to say the least.

I didn't even get the email that it shipped until 3 hours before it delivered. I wouldn't really worry about it unless it doesn't deliver on Monday.

 

My EDD is still 3/30... there was that post this morning that I read which said their turnaround is usually 1 week... Unbelievable!

 

Yep. Mine was like that (except shipped 3/12) with "info temporarily unavailable" yesterday evening, then last night it changed to a tracking number and this morning it's back to "unavailable". Funny.

 

Mine is still in production. Ordered at 12 on 3/4 from EPP rep. They upgraded me to next day. Hoping to receive before 3/30 EDD.

 

Ordered mine 3/9 and it seems to me every ones been getting theirs in 9-10 days. So even though my EDD is 4/5, I'm really hoping to get mine around the 18th or 19th.

EDD is one day short of 4 weeks. I really hope I get it this next week sometime, even though I ordered through AAFES.

 

I would care to bet that yours will come sometime this week.
Unless ours take longer due to ordering through AAFES???

Please keep us updated as I would like to know how many days from when you ordered until you got it. May help me guesstimate when I will get mine. As we all know the EDD doesn't mean a darn thing.

 

any one of u live in europe and ordered an R3 in the states ?

Im thinking of gettin one in the states, as here they be about 2300 ish euros with the config i want and in the states its like 2000 dollars. Quite a masive difference

How long u reckon it wil take to get from there to here ish ?

AFAIK, fedex standard overnight DOES NOT include Saturday delivery, unless that option was chosen (at extra cost)

 

Did you think of shipping cost + insurance + import tax ?

I dont think you can avoid import tax evan by marking it as a "gift".

Your order status should change with Dell and you should get an e-mail. Although, correct me if I'm wrong I think X3NIA said that the system was slow and didn't update and say shipped until 3 hours before the computer was delivered.

The reason yours is taking so long is because of the SB issue. That has been worked out and I would be willing to bet that it will show up sometime this week. Now that the SB issue has been worked out most everyone has been getting them in 9-10 days. I ordered on 3/9 and am really expecting to see it tail end of this week or first thing next week.

I bought i via AAFES they would not ship it to Okinawa. I used ShipIT APO to ship it here.
