M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

I was supposed to be called by a manager today too and nothing. Guessing I won't hear anything until my EDD and then I'll get some automated email saying "Oh sorry! Your shipment is delayed, but we waited until now to tell you instead of telling you weeks ago!"

 

Woooot just ordered my m17x, the rep -said- it would be about 3 weeks, order confirmation comes in at about 5 weeks.
ETA 17/05/11, gotta wait for the order status to update i guess..

But either way I'm so excited I could shoot someone.

Well as I posted previously - the executive staff who looked into this extensively for me have made it very clear that parts of the chassis (hinges, LCD back covers etc) are on back order and due in on the 26th April (Maybe sooner).

 

I thought I would put my two cents in here. I've been reading this thread for a few days now. Ordered mine 4/1. EDD is 4/27. That is all.

 

With your two cents, how bout you post up your specs!

 

Hey! I'm new to posting here, but I've been following this thread for a week or so now. I also ordered on 4/1 with an EDD of 4/27. I called yesterday and talked with a rep who assured me that my system will not be delayed and my EDD is still valid. Mine will have the 1920x1080 60 hz screen, 6970 gpu, and a 2820 cpu.

 

Update: Apparently the only reason for the delay is that the M17x touchpads are on backorder. According to the person I spoke to in the order modification department, it will be 15 calendar days before Dell receives the next shipment of touchpads. So of all the parts in the Alienware M17x, they ran out of touchpads... Seriously?

Has anyone already received their laptop who ordered on or after 3/19?

 

lol, the reason for the delay per the people I spoke with is the chasis and ONLY the chasis. They were very convincing that they knew exactly what was going on and actually brought in others in the coversation to support the claim. They are convinced mine will be delayed, but that there are no notes on my order at this time. I am sure that the touchpad is also the only reason, along with all the other reasons as to why there is a delay. I guess in the end it does not matter. I just want my R3 - as does everyone else.

It sure is funny how everyone gets a slightly different story, just further evidence that the CSRs have no clue and they are saying anything they can come up with to make you happy and get you off of the phone!

 

haha, My M17x r3 has already been shipped out today! I ordered last Wednesday (March 30th). It is fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously? What are your specs? I ordered 3/23 and won't get until 4/14, and thats with calling for NBD, and asking for factory expedite like twice

 

I smell a Troll....If your serious please post a screenshot of your order stating the order date and EDD, if you can't show that then please dont troll the forums.

lol, wasnt trying to be an a-hole but thats one insane claim, and if its true it would start a whole bunch of uproar from the roughly 100 people talking on these forums who are waiting about a month or longer and that includes myself.

So unless he has proof it only took 2 weeks he needs to get off the forums and not start with the community. The Alienware m17x section of the forums is relatively mature as far as forum maturity goes, no need to blow that all to hell for 1 Troll.

 

This is definitely a "pics or it didn't happen" situation.

 

I highly doubt if he'd have proof. I see the same guy having posted in Lenovo forums claiming he bought a Lenovo w510 3/11. Dont make sense to me.

 

As an FYI, I ordered my m17x on 3/24 and have an NBD EDD of 4/18 (which means a ship out date of the 15th, due to the business day not being on a weekend thing). The Dell folks mentioned to me that they are getting in the base for my machine on the 12th and are hopeful that they can get it to be by the end of next week on the 15th, but no promises.

The EEP Dell rep has been fairly awesome, even called to let me know the status of the order.

Yep, I bought a W510 in 2010, and I got it in March 2010.

The M17X I ordered is i7 2820, AMD 6970, 1920*1080, 6300 others are basic. I also bought a 3 year advanced warranty.

Just show the picture to you guys who did not believe it.
The estimated dilivery date is wried. I think it will be edited soon. Now it's in Chincago.

 

I guess the M17Xs delayed are all 460 video card, are they?

Because on the official website, the estimate delivery date of two types of M17X are different.

5/6/2011 and 5/13/2011. So I guess AW is short of GTX 460 or the 3D screen.

 

Well, I don't know if AW is still supplying 460M's for M15x's as well which would attribute for the long lead-time since two models are pushing the 460M's. I just sold my M15x and ordered the basic M17xR3 which is due for delivery on 4/28.

 

I think you may get it at the end of next week

mine was delivered today at noon. Well worth the wait. I wish Dells customer service was better but at leased its here seemingly defect free.

 

why did you reorder a different one?

 

Because his original is probably a defect.

 

There may be some hope for everyone waiting, i ordered mine 3/29 EDD was 4/25, it shipped today and has an EDD of 4/9

 

The CSR's probably got this memo:

If the customer is inquiring into a delayed order status, tell them one of these is on backorder: lcd, gpu, cpu, HDD, chassis, ram, optical drives, or touchpads. Or lie and tell them there's no delay.

that's insane! that's almost as bad as my order. Def call and see if you can get it expedited (don't really think they "expedite" though) and NBD. That's what i had to do.

Meh. My replacement is delayed. Was supposed to arrive on 4/1. Then was supposed to arrive tomorrow 4/9. Delays delays delays!!!

All of this delays just makes me want to cancel my order and re-order in the next month or two. I don't want them rushing my order and as a result lose the quality of the product. I'm torn between two bridges.

Nah dont do it, especially if you got a good deal. I waited 2 months for mine, and it's 95% worth the wait, save for the gigantic headaches and random white hairs growing out of my head. I'm looking forward to a replacement due to BSODs and wacko gpu. I think the csr guy was QUITE generous in getting me a replacement even though the only problem I was describing to him that one morning I called was about the scratch on my lid.

In a nutshell, just wait for it (if you bought it at a good discounted price).

 

And thank you for stopping me from thinking about canceling my order.

Well I bought it through AAFES. I'm not sure how it affects the EDD but I'm also looking forward for the M11x R3, me going loCo. And if i cancel i would get the 4 year advance warranty, I didn't even get one at all, all i have is just the plain old 1 year basic lolz My Sister was like are you crazy go get that 4 year advance warranty now! lolz

 

You can call aafes after-the-fact and upgrade. I initially ordered 1 year and when I cancelled the SB-fiasco'd R3 and reordered, I had them add 3yearaccidental warranty and the 6970. You just pay the difference (your aafes discount will still apply in case you're wonderin')

My EDD just got pushed from 4/13 to 5/11. I ordered with AMD 6970, 1920x1080 screen and 2820 CPU.

I am now likely to shop for a Sager with similar specs. If xoticpc can deliver in less time, Dell loses a sale.

I just got an email my order has shipped! Ordered 3/29 original EDD 4/22 changed to 4/12. Wish I has gotten NBD now.
