    UPDATE: Called the automated order status and it says that its "In the boxing stage."

    Is that good news?

    UPDATE #2: Dell rep gave me another EDD of 4/18....CRAP! Said that they are waiting on the carrier to pickup from Warehouse and that a follow up team will contact me.

    I agree. I would have considered a Sager or Origin PC IF they had a backlit keyboard. That is a no starter for me. Also having an integrated graphics card as an option for better battery life.

    I tried Crysis on the highest settings and it ran like a dream.. No idea what the FPS was but everything was super smooth. I love this thing!

    That's the status mine's in. How did you get a tracking number? NVM - I FOUND IT. Well it looks like they sent it to FedEx on the 8th so I was complaining to the manager and supervisor and they gave me for a phony story for no reason lol WOW. I guess it was too late to even set me up for NBD because it was already going to fedex.. (Damn liars!) I'll get it on the 13th so i'm happy but damn the Dell folks for not talking to each other!!!

    Order date: 3/8 - EDD: 4/19 (however it's in the mail NOW!) :)

    I put it on the highest settings. I checked what the recommended/optimal settings would be first and it said high. Then I tried it on the max settings and it ran beautifully. No stuttering or lag whatsoever. :)

    I'll be interested to see when mine actually arrives. The FedEx tracking site shows that the package information was entered on 4/10 but there is no entry other than that. The package is sitting on a pallet somewhere, waiting to be flown to the US or is on a FedEx jet en-route now.

    My EDD from Dell is 4/15, so it may not be here as soon as I hope. We shall see.

    This is at native res?

    At high settings native res I get around 47 to 50 FPS

    At the highest settings I get 27 to 30 FPS

    Is this what everyone else sees with Crysis?

    DUDE !! o man lol will u not believe this then.Since i first placed my order i never saw a change after in production , But now today after that call and upgrade to NBD shipping for the first time it says delivery preparation ! Skipped the build stage , well you know i mean i never saw it change to that since my order was first placed.Maybe now they are starting to keep there word ? lol i hope your wrong cause i am still holdin my breath and i do not want to suffocate !! I really hope they dont let me down ,

    I ordered an alienware on 3/16. I spec'd out a 2820 with a 6970. It was to be shipped on 4/6. It now shows to ship on 4/20 but even that is no guarantee. I began talking with them around the 27th of March. I found out they "ran out" of the motherboard on the day it was supposed to ship.

    I was told, ironically enough, on 4/1 by a Mr. Orlando P*(**n that they would do a series of things to get this fixed and call me the following Monday. That call never occured. I followed up with a couple of emails thereafter. Finally reached them on 4/6 and that's when they told me, "Oh, all of our M17's can't ship because we just found out we have no motherboards". WHAT?!?!?!?

    I asked why this information was not available on Friday 4/1? They do use JIT. No Answer. I ask when they will get the parts in stock? They have no idea. I ask why no one could follow up, no answer. I ask why he never called me back? Oh, he was sick all week. Huh... He sent an email on the 4th, which seemed to completely ignore the conversations we had. I spoke to his boss, which was even more fruitless. I emailed his boss's boss. Never a response.

    Any kind of compensation offered to quell the disappointment? Nope.

    This was not the only Dell I had ever ordered, but this was certainly the worst experience... Dell, HP, Compact or whoever.

    So now, I continue to look for alternatives. When I find one suitable, I will buy it. Till then, I am hosed.

    I even emailed Michael Dell and got an email back saying they were basically working on it..

    My package info was entered on 4/6 and actually picked up and taken to a FedEX location on 4/8. It was only being shipped from a few states away. I don't have NBD and it is arriving tomorrow as it is only 16 miles away from me now. So close but yet. . .

    I have the exact same specs and initial order time as you. My EDD has not changed yet. Still 4/27. I am just going to forget I ordered a new laptop and be totally surprised when it just shows up! lol

    I checked over the phone. The website just shows "In production". I would like to give the benifit of the doubt and not think that they would let it tell me boxing stage when it still isn't finished.

    When I call the phone order support automated line it always gives me the exact info that the website gives me. Are you guys calling some other number to get different info? Mine just always says "In Production".

    Ah. Ok. That is a different number than I was calling. I am apparently in "Build Stage" with an estimated ship date of 4/22. Should take a day to get here in Houston, and another to get to the house. Woot! This monster is going to eat my photo editing process for breakfast!

    Looks like most of the Alienware and XPS 17" and 15" Laptops are shipping between 5/10 and 5/17! Dell must be overloaded with orders, understaffed, and missing parts all at the same time.

    Seems like it's gonna be the same as the m17x r3 but with a bigger screen and dual gpu option.. Also, the option to cop for a 2920xm for all you rich people.
