It's been a while since there has been an 18" Alienware.

Has yours moved yet? Mine still says FEDEX is waiting to receive it with an ship date of 13th which is tmrw. But that's not going to happen because it hasn't been checked in with FEDEX yet. It looks like they just made the fedex slip to ship it. Such teases!!!! lol

 

mine is still just bocing stage. There is no fedex for me. But yeah you right i will most likely get it thurs.

 

No movement yet here either! Ours are probably on the same pallet coming over from China. Nashville first, then off to the nearest distro hub. They better go NBD once the thing is stateside!

When i called earlier today a csr told me that the actual body of the laptop was on back order and that they just received a shipment today so my laptop i order almost a month ago is just starting to be built now. needless to say I'm pretty upset

 

Well even if i get it thurs. its only 1 more day.

 

My R3 magically got shipped today. Ordered 3/20, with estimated delivery date of 4/13. Got delay email last weekend with delivery pushed to 5/11. Got so upset that I ordered the Eurocom Racer (matte 1080p, 6970m, i5, $1250 shipped). Then 5 minutes ago got a email from Dell saying it was shipped on 4/12 and will be delivered by fedex by 4/14 (surprised since I had the 7 day shipping option).

So now I got 2 great systems coming my way, will post comparsion pictures of the 2 when I get them. Should be a very interesting comparison between the m17x r3 & p150hm matte .

 

Keep me posted to weather or not you get it tomorrow. Still a little doubt since so many rumors about Back order Parts.

nope! although there are most definitely pros and cons to both systems, usage should ndeed play the key factor in deciding between the two...

Does this number take you to an automated Order status or a Sales rep?

 

It's an automated status, but my EDD was pushed back 8 days to 4/22.

 

Ouch :\ Hopefully it'll come sooner than that.

 

Well. If I get told that it is coming in the month of may, I'll just cancel it. I won't be here to receive it.

 

My new Delivery Date is 4/19. I am just a tiny bit peaved. But as long as it comes befor may im still good.

 

So get this I ordered from dell EDD on March 28th and I received a ship date of 5-17. Then AAFES had that 1199 sell so I canceled my order with dell and bought from AAFES saved 540 bucks but the big kicker was my ship date now is 4-28 nice.
Specs
i7 2820,6970,4gigs ram.1.5 raid 0, 1080p screen and black.

 

The wait was too long, order date March 15th ETA April 27th

Concerns over build quality and the fact I'm not an avid gamer means I've gone and ordered myself a macbook pro 17.

Yeah, I couldn't wait until May. Just decided to go a different direction.

Perhaps the next time I need an upgrade I might look into the m18x r3 or w/e is out at that point

 

This new number is the best! Jumps you right into an order lookup IVR app, you only have to enter your order number one time and selection of any other options is via menu is not required.

I just checked and my machine is scheduled to ship on 4/14 and be delivered on 4/15.

Let's hope it is accurate!

If you went with a Malibal, I think you made a great choice, especially with the 485M nVidia.

I was specing out several boutique shops such as Malibal, Mythlogic, XoticPC, Sager. All based on the most recent Clevo lineup.

In the end I decided to do with AW because I could use my DFS card and get a year with no interest rather than spend a bunch of free cash-flow. Personal financial decision, but the Clevo based units are very sweet indeed. I think you'll likely end up with a better screen as well ...

What has been your experience on the lead time from order to delivery? Are these smaller shops having similar issues keeping up with the demand for these machines?

 

Order date 3/29- EDD 4/22- changed 4/12- recieved 4/12!!!

I just received my M17x r3 yesterday. So far no there are no problems and it is a dream compared to my previous computers. I am loving this computer so far.

I must say that I had a positive experience with Dell throughout this entire process. Not to take away from the many who had terrible experiences. I hope all of you get yours soon.

The default Clevo screen is garbage. That's part of why I switched over to the AW.

And that phone number is awesome, at least if it is accurate. It says my XPS is on its way, whereas the site still says it is in production. Now if my M17X were being delivered today, I'd be even happier!

 

I ordered 3/23, original EDD 4/18, called and got NBD to 4/14. No shipping info yet...

 

Could be, because he got the 2820QM over the usual 2720QM... All of you guys seem to be buying the 2720QM...

Just a guess here..but, maybe they have separate manufacturing lines for certain processors? IDK! lol just seems like its that way. Just a guess.

 

Sorry to hear about that. Any reason as to getting the MBP instead? Comparatively speaking, with student discount, the MBP comes out to about $700 more without the blu-ray drive for me. I like the feel of the MBP, but my 15'' gets way too hot just streaming videos.

Yeah temperature is a worry, other than that I got the MBP for £100 less than the alienware.

If the R3 was the same chassis as the R2 it would have tipped it in the favor of waiting.

In addition it seems like there is a 50% or so chance of having an issue that would require a replacement.

The case peeling wouldn't be apparent instantly and I usually change my laptops every year.

I have an iMac so I can use that as a 27" monitor now with the mini displayport to mini displayport.

Saying that, if the mac is hot and noisy... I'll be back here waiting for the M18X or the M6600.

 

I move May 1st. Waiting til may is not an option.

 

Well i just called my sales rep and she said that It is finished building and everything and she gave me a strait answer about it being on a frieght. She said in her experiance that my order will probobly out Friday. Although worst case senario it will ship out monday and i'll get it tuesday. Do you guys think there is any way if it does ship friday it will get here saturday?

 

I wouldn't expect to receive it on Saturday if it ships Friday. You never know however, it might happen!

 

Im not. I was Actually Expecting monday. although i do have nbd i doubt dell would have put up for saturday shipping since i do think it is extra.

Apart from a few issues with Dells idiot recovery making software system appears perfect. Havent seen any popping up of the media panel as posted about here!

How long before the order go "in production"? May order this week....

 

Pretty sure they go into production immediately or at least within 24 hours. Who knows when they actually go into real production, I sort of doubt they actually take 3-5 weeks of total build time but what do I know.

 

Not too long, for me it was 1~2 business days. The real problem is how long it takes to get out of production

I'm a french guy and I follow you for 40-50 pages now.

I ordered mine on 04/04 and got an EDD on 05/02. But on the french site, they say "in preparation" for long before "in production" (unlike you).

But when it's written "in production", you can be sure it is. Generally shipped 2-3 days after this statement.

I will continue following you for a couple of days. Your waiting time could be mine as mine isn't in production yet ...

Supposed to be here today. Fedex hasn't received it yet. This is some mess.

 

Status update for me -- just got an email saying my R3 is shipping today and will arrive tomorrow! Fingers crossed...

 

Was the same for me. Was in pre-production for almost four weeks, then in production 2-3 days and now it's shipping

 

Yeah i was curious as to why we ordered about an hour or two apart and it was such a drastic difference in our shipping times. Just out of Curiosity what color did you get yours in?

I don't think the phone number is up to date. Talk to a rep or use the website, or both. I ordered 3/23 and had 4/18 EDD, then 4/14 with NBD (after call-in). Just talked to my rep, and now it is 5/12, due to some BS about chassis not up to standards.

Really pissed, if it isn't shipped by friday I'm canceling. Another month of waiting is NOT acceptable. Plus it is sad that I find out the day it is supposed to be shipped that there is this problem... The system should have been built weeks ago, sad that dell went behind my back and changed at the last sec

 

Mine was the same way, they made a FEDEX slip on the 8th and FEDEX just barely recvd it today so it's in transit and my NBD never happened. But i'm getting it on the 15th so i'm guessing they 2day mailed. Those jerks

 

ah i just noticed you got the 28 instead of the 27. and yeah it looks like we should both be getting them soon
