Still my order was not shipped . EDD is Mar/8

My order date is Feb 4.

I don't understand and chat with rep , she's completely out of mind or something was changed.. she mentioned Mar 29 about EDD.

I told her to call to me to your boss or case manager something.
She didn't mentioned exact EDD after then saying DELL try to ship asap when it's ready (same comment from every rep so i don't believe)

DELL website still show my EDD as Mar/8. If it's changed again then i become crazy.

i should call and contact case manager or higher to hear explanation.

I don't understand why my order is not shipped yet. some in community get laptop earlier than mine even though i ordered Feb/3 with credit card.

    I'm gone mad.

My EDD was changed from Mar/8 to Mar/14. (Crazy !!)

There is a messages when i check DELL order status.
Federal Trade Commission something so i should choose 3 option.
    1. Consent to this delay and continue with my order..
    2. Consent to this delay and all future delays and continue with this order
    3. Cancel this order.

    Crap.

Wow, a better deal than I got. I couldn't get them to up the GPU to the 6990m, but spent the same after tax. :(

What did you do to get that thrown in? Wondering if I should call back and gripe at them about it to see if I can get the better card. I like toying with hardware, upgrading myself doesn't bother me. A better price for better base parts though...

    edit: Congrats, btw. :D

Ugh all this chatter about the 580m and the wait time is killing me! Now I'm debating whether or not I made a good decision. Is 3D really that important to me? I don't know. What I do know is I can build a system now with the 2860QM, 6990, and 1080p screen for less than what I paid for my build (2670QM, 580m, and 1080p).

So, should I cancel my order and reorder with the new specs? Heck maybe even if I call and chat with a rep they'll give me a better price.

    Decisions, decisions, decsions...

congrats to the people finally getting what they ordered. Still in limbo here...

While watching all these unboxing vids of the m17x, i've been seeing a lot of nebula reds and suddenly regret choosing black. Red just looks so different and cool, but it would be way to much trouble to turn back now... oh well. At least it can shoot cool lasers beams.

This is the first and possibly last time I ever purchase an Alienware/Dell product. I can't believe all the crap I've gone through just for a laptop. I'm still waiting for my laptop to ship. I was told on Tuesday it's packaged up and ready for delivery. I was told that my EDD of March 8 was looking good. Here I am on the 9th and there has been no status update. My FedEx tracking number still says initiated. They haven't even received my laptop and it's been 3 days since it was built. Just spoke with a supervisor and was told that the system had to be shipped from China or Malaysia to the US. My laptop isn't even in the country yet. What really pisses me off is that everyone else seems to be getting their order before me, yet I've ordered before most others.

Does anyone know the US customer care number or an email to a US customer care rep? I just can't believe a 7 day delay is turning into a 21 day delay. All I get out of the reps in India is, "We assure you sir, your laptop will be delivered soon" or "We are looking into your situation. We will get back to you as soon as we get a reply". Today I was told to call back on Monday as there should be a status update. What the hell is going on? Is this how Dell does business and expects to get repeat customers?

I am right with you SkylineLvr, thankfully my Outlet order is supposed to walk into the door any minute now. But my original order was driving me nuts. Dell reps just don't seem to have any real information so they just keep spouting off the same old scripted BS. Not really the reps fault, they just don't know.

My luck came from contacting my original sales rep who not only was US based but seemed to be far more knowledgeable and willing to admit that the order was just stuck in limbo for the moment even though that could (and did!) lead to a cancellation.

Dell/AW needs to man up and just NOT take orders they can't fulfill in a reasonable amount of time. Yes its a boutique brand and made to order so your not going to get it next day, but once things get to the month stage then its time to hold off and back fill before you add to the line.

Mine is supposed to be shipped out today, EDD of 3/13. I probably have not waited as long as some (ordered 2/19), though of course I am very anxious. Still, if it doesn't get shipped on time, I'll be okay with that as it will give me reason to call and gripe and maybe get some $$ refunded or a few items thrown in to my order. I did mine online, then came across a thread or two about calling Dell in order to get the best deal. Paid $2,900 after taxes for my rig, know I could have done better and I kick myself several times a day for that.

Oh well, if they don't get this beast on a fedex truck by end of business there will be hell to pay! (wink)

p.s. Great forum everyone, thanks for the education.

That's really strange. Our specs are identical and your order was processed only one day later than mine. Sounds like someone dropped the ball on Dell's side. I did find this comment on a web site related to Dell Customer Service (there are a lot out there!). I was pretty lucky as the person I dealt with gave me a straight answer the majority of the time.

    "Description:
You may also try calling their spanish speaking USA order support number (1-866-751-6079) and then once you get a live agent, ask them nicely if you can speak in english. The agents usually speak english very well and are much much nicer, more helpful and knowledgable than the indian agents. An added bonus is there is usually less of a wait time as well."

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear you're still getting the run around, I'd hoped that the last call you had would be the end of it. :(

Even the US Reps aren't that great. When I called to order, I asked about the Special Offer on the AW deals page, linked directly from the menu bar of the main AW page. They tried to tell me it was a spoofed site, of all things, and insisted on that until I told them I was going to do a Whois search. Then they suddenly switched tracks and claimed that price was for the base build, even though it's $200 more than the base build. Do they think we're all born yesterday or illiterate or something?

They also sent me the wrong cooling pad. But since it was a freebie, I'm not going to call them on it. For now. Am waiting for something bigger to happen, then I will. But since I didn't get the latest gen GPU, I think my own order may be OK.

Anyway, enough of my moaning. Try the EPP numbers:
    1-800-695-8133
    1-800-999-3355
These are all US Reps, usually based out of Texas I think. They also let us know that they would welcome friends and family referrals, so I have my own Rep's direct extension if anyone wants to call him. Just PM me. I feel I kind of owe him some grief so am happy to pass on his extension to people who need a US Rep for issues like this. :D

I don't know what your situation is, or how long you've been waiting on your system... but calling in doesn't seem to help. When I was waiting on my system, I called in maybe 4-5 times trying to get updates/explanations. They don't have any, and sometimes they'll even lie to you: "Yeah it's being put on the truck now, sir"

Just be patient. I hate to say it... but it will ship. If you do call in, just request that they call you personally when it ships. They'll give you a courtesy call when it does.

Just show them the receipt from your order. They'll send a guy to replace it, and you may end up with some free upgrades. I had around the same thing happen and I ended up with around $600 of upgrades.

Agent Coolblue on these forums had a huge haggle deal with them..they gave him that price but he found one from a reviewer here that he purchased instead. He gave me the quote number of his conversation with his rep and I called them up and pretty much said "give me this price and ill give you my monety tonight!"

It worked! Although my quote ended up being $70 more since the video card was no longer on special when I called. Still it was a good deal and my EDD is march 22 but it says in production now...I may be receiving mine a week early!

@Salticid - Thanks for the numbers, unfortunately those are the numbers I already have that links me to the reps in India. Speaking to them, they told me that the number randomly links to either a US or Indian rep. It depends on the call volumes. Also, the US has fewer agents, so it's more difficult to get one.

I ordered on the 7th of Feb. My EDD change from Feb 22 to March 1 to March 8 to unknown. It's actually very helpful to call. If I wouldn't have called, I wouldn't have any idea that my system wasn't even in the US. Still can't believe it's taking this long to get to the states. I spoke with a couple supervisors and they have requested that once the package has landed in the US to notify them. Doesn't really help me much since once FedEx gets it, it'll update on the website, but at least they are trying. Once I do get my system, he's going to compensate me for all my troubles. I'm not looking for a discount or any free stuff, but I wouldn't mind getting an extra year or 2 added to my warranty.

All in all, if you don't call and just sit and wait, you'll more than likely have no idea what is going on with your system. If that works for you, great. But that don't work for me. I spent quite a bit for my system and I'm not going to just sit back and wait over a month without a clue on what is going on. I'm also moving to England on the 29th and will be moving out of my house on the 19th. I'm sure it'll be here early next week, but I was sure it was going to be here this week. I just don't want to be moved out of my house before getting my laptop. I want the movers to package up the box my laptop comes in. That way I won't have to carry it through the airport.

Sorry about all the rants guys. Guess I just had to vent a little after the last call. I've cooled down since and my reps supervisor called and assured he'll do his best to get my system located and get me an accurate delivery date.

You prob should have waited til you moved to England, most EU orders seem to be going through rather quickly! UPS is stating my delivery date will be 12/03/2012 and I only ordered on 06/03/2012 :S

I contemplated on that, but at the time I ordered, my move date wasn't set in stone and could have been moved to April. I also wasn't expecting it to take 30+ days to build and get delivered. My reps supervisor even told me that without any delays on the parts, it usually takes 3-5 days to build and ship. He also told me that they weren't just back ordered on the GPUs, but some systems were waiting on the screens to get in stock.

Since I'm military and ordered through the AAFEs website, which helped give me a massive discount, ordering in England could take from 45-60 days to ship. So I would have been looking at not getting a system until May time, which for me is a little too long out. I was also contemplating on just holding out and waiting for the next gen systems to come out, but with the budget I was working with, I wouldn't have gotten the system I would have wanted.

Darn, sorry about that. I didn't realize these would direct you to an overseas rep, some of the time. Was under the impression because they're EP Programs all had to be US based. Sounds like you've gotten some pretty strong response now though, I really hope that supervisor finds it and expedites it to you before your move. And if you ever want my rep's direct extension just let me know. Don't know if it would help, but it's yours if you want it.

This thread is about venting over your order delivery status right? No worries about venting. :D

Awesome! I hope it does come early. :)

    Alright, got another status update.

My laptop has finally arrived in the US. It is currently in NJ at FedEx. It's estimated to get delivered on the 13th, which is Tuesday. I supposedly have next day shipping, so shouldn't it get here on Monday? Either way, it's on it's way. I'll be seeing it the same day my Razer Mamba comes in.

Maybe they're being conservative? Or maybe didn't arrive in time to be processed for domestic shipping before end of business? Maybe you'll be surprised Monday with an 'early' delivery. lol

I too just wanted to vent a bit. As it says in my sig, Ordered 2/22. I know a lot of you ordered before me and are still waiting on your laptop to arrive. Myself, its more of a nervous worry.

Literally the day after I ordered mine, the 580 was pulled from the website. Now seeing the someone received a different video card has me a bit concerned. My personal luck with ATI products is incredibly bad, thus why I chose the 580m.

Originally I was going to swap the ram to the 8GB of Corsair that I got on newegg, but now that I hear there are 4 slots, I am going to add it to make a total of 12 GB. Overkill I know, but I do use VM's quite frequently.

Also, since my desktop died last week, going to pull the SSD out of it and use it for my OS drive, so that should help with booting, though it is only a 64 GB, but not like I need much to just have the OS, firefox, and a few system essentials.

One concern I have though, and since I am a geek I don't mind tinkering with the system, does anyone know if the default dell wireless card can handle using connectify? Can it host a device while simultaneously being connected to an access point? I will probably need to start a new thread on this...

I believe the person you heard about getting the wrong video card ordered from the Dell Outlet. His system wasn't new. I wouldn't worry too much about not getting the right video card. It just might be a while before your system ships. If I understood my reps supervisor correctly, they might be getting a shortage on the screens now. Not 100% on that, and I don't mean to start up any rumors.

What's your current EDD? If it's close, I'd call order support to get an idea on if the backorder of the 580M affected your order adversely.

Yeah, this warrants another post (so that your question gets maximum exposure).

I'm assuming that they may have enough cards now that they can send the correct one to you. Also, I thought I heard somewhere else that the supply of parts for repairs/exchanges/outlet are from a different warehouse then the new ones being built. I could be wrong.

I'm to the point now that I just want everyone to get their orders correct and shipped out on time. These delays have driven me close to insanity. It's so bad that my wife is the one that is trying to keep things calm. She keeps telling me it's ok and it'll get here soon. That's quite the contrast to a few weeks back when she was still pissed that I spent close to $2K on a laptop. I think she was feeling bad for me that she ordered the Razer Mamba as a cooling off gift.

Be sure the check the card BEFORE you let them take your system apart. I have had them send out the wrong card on accident and not realize it until they were ready to pop it in.

My current EDD is 3/20. It was originally the 14th but that changed within a day of ordering. Though when I called last week to ask, I was told my EDD has not, nor will ever change because they had all parts in stock and were simply filling the backlog of orders.

The worst part about this is that they are claiming that my EDD never changed. The main reason I got the R3 now is because I need it for school (the actual class I need it for starts the 15th).

This is going to be interesting to see if my EDD does not change. If it does, I will definitely be on the phone with Dell asking for some compensation due to my grades being adversely affected.

Thought ordering it a month in advance would have been enough, though now I see that someone made a pretty big mistake somewhere.

My M11x can do some of what I need, though its going to be amusing to see how long it will take to process some of the renders.

Going out looking for compensation before anything has even happened is the wrong mindset to be in. Most of us that have been compensated or will/may be compensated have gone through a lot to get it. It's not just because our EDD was changed once. There were a lot of different factors involved. Mostly due to being run around when calling customer care, numerous EDD changes, and constantly being lied to.

Wait until your EDD has passed. If you still haven't heard anything, then give them a call and see what the deal is. I'm sure not having your laptop for one week of school isn't going to adversely affect your grades. You even said your m11x can partially do the job. Now, if it starts to delay farther down into your class, then yes, that would be an issue. Just keep on them and try to get as much info as you can. It may be hard and stressful, but if you keep on it, you'll find your answers.

No, no, Skyline, I'm not expecting any compensation beforehand, or even expecting anything really. Its more of the fact that I am disappointed in Dell/Alienware for having the problem and not communicating more with their customers about the true reason for the delay and letting their CS people make things up that just "sound good" at the time to appease.

As far as my class, it actually will affect me quite a lot. See, my classes are 5 weeks long and then we move onto another. Its night school and I'm getting my degree in I.T. Management (Bachelor of Science NOT Business) and this is precisely what I see as another failure that I hope to change.

Having my classes last 5 weeks means that they require a great deal of work each week. I got the M17x when I got notified that I was accepted into a pilot class that is teaching how to use aerodynamics and fluid-dynamics with 3d models to create datacenters with specific needs.

Week one is just designing the datacenter, the M11x can handle that. Week two is what concerns me as that is adding the physics to the 'air'. I'm making it sound silly I know but it really looks to be a fun class. In just playing with Algor CFD the M11x chokes a bit.

I really did not mean it to sound the way it did, Skyline, I'm just very nervous because things are really being cut close. All I need is to have a 2 week delay and well...

I wasn't inclining that you were looking for some freebies. I was just making a statement that it seems a lot of people tend to go that route once their system hits a short delay. It's understandable to be upset, but we must understand that Dell, although their customer service may not be what we would expect of them, are trying to do their best. They don't always see what is going on with our systems, they also don't get all the exact details either. This is something that needs to be addressed in the future. They definitely need some help with their information sharing between the manufacturers and customer care. I was a bit hot headed in my earlier response due to the lack of information sharing between them. I do regret some of what I have said, but at the same time, I felt I was justified in my response. I guess finally seeing that my laptop has shipped, and that I'm able to track where it is, does add some comfort to the situation. All said and done, if my system arrives on the EDD it would have been 35 days since my original order date. I hope nobody else has to experience these type of delays.

I realized that after commenting on your post, your classes might be accelerated. Being in the military myself, the college courses we can be anywhere from 4 weeks to 8 weeks. I apologize for assuming your classes were normal in length. You should call Dell and tell them your situation. Perhaps try and speak to a supervisor/manager and assure them that you need your system ASAP. Although it might not actually get your system any faster, they might be more willing to open up to you in the fact that the delay may actually affect you, instead of just giving out their plain response of "Your system is on schedule for your EDD".

Once I get settled in England, I plan on changing my degree. Currently I'm working on my Technical Management degree, but I am thinking of going the IT route or perhaps something else dealing with computers and technology. I figured since I love technology so much (but I'm not near the expertise as some on this site are) why not work on getting a degree in it. Good luck with your system, hopefully you'll get some straight answers soon.
