Hey Chris
It is sad to hear, hopefully all parts shall be re-stocked soon..
btw, has dell invoiced your order yet? it is always a good sign, right?
-
Let us know how you get on anyway mate.

Well my order status changed to "With local carrier" but I Didn't get it today so I'm pretty disappointed now because I have to wait the weekend, so at least 3 days more to get it when I was promised a delivery yesterday.
They've given me a "tracking number" with the "carrier: SAU" when there is no such carrier as SAU in Australia, and a Google result brought up nothing. I've went through every Australian postal website and posted the tracking number and all of them say "non-existent".
All in all a disappointing lack of communication on Dell's part for what is their premium product. -
there is nothing worse than plain waiting...share your pain.
watch a kettle boil will just slow down the time. Just go out and do something else this weekend, with your gf or mates.
-
Waiting sucks!
Emailed again today, still waiting on parts. Won't hear anything now till early next week *sigh*

Made my order on 6/27 and still in pre-production stage. I'm assuming this will take another 5-7 days before production. Estimated date of delivery of 7/16 (standard shipping it says, ordered online).
Now I gotta figure out when to sell this Asus lol. -
I ordered 6/26, EDD of 7/19 (with NBD) - 680M with a 3D screen, from the US.
Just wanted to chime in and share the pain of waiting - still in Pre-production myself. Hi guys. -
-
Everyone who ordered a unit with a GTX680M is in pre-production as they are waiting for the cards to get in.
-
Ordered: 6/19
EDD: 7/13
Current status: Pre-production (on DELL italian site is called "In process")
Still waiting.... -
Yay, just checked - moved to "In Production".

I broke down after about a week of research (great forum, this!!) and pulled the trigger on the below system. It should be here thursday according to current prediction (this is in Denmark, btw). I am going to use the machine for heavy duty graphic design, video editing and photo editing as well as gaming, so a hefty graphics card was always in the picture so to say. So, noone but reviewers has one of these yet, huh?
Edit: Gah how do I add a signature? lol: anyway, the specs:
Alienware m17x-r4 ║ Stealth Black ║ Intel i7-3720QM ║ NVIDIA GTX680m ║ 750GB HDD + 32GB mSATA ║ 16GB DDR3 RAM ║ 1080p 120hz 3D kit -
Mine's been 'in production' all week...
To be honest, whilst the website order tracker gives you a glimmer of hope, it is just a glimmer. If you speak to a customer support operative you'll get a truer picture of what's going on. And for those in the UK/EU (UK definitely, not sure if EU orders are assembled at the same place) don't hold your breath. There is a shortage of parts from the manufacturer with (up to time of writing) no ETA on Dell's system... -
Hmm mine has not. You guys order it with the GTX680m??

Yea, GTX680m and the 3D bundle. -

w00t mine just went into production now!
-
nice,
mine also went into production, cant wait. -
Mine was shipped yesterday should be here tomorrow!
I cant wait. -
I checked and mine is in production as well, just a few hours after placing my order. This according to Dells order status. Does this mean the parts (read: GTX680) are in stock? I've heard nothing else than my system will be here within next week.
-
I've just purchased a M17X GTX 680M 3D.
What should I expect in waiting time from now until it gets delivered with 2-day shipping?
How long does processing usually take?
I'll do a review of this computer once I receive it.
Any feedback is appreciated! -

Unfortunately, it's about 3 to 4 weeks at least before you will get your new toy. Possibly longer. -
Well... it all depends on what else you ordered with it.
Processing took me 2 days and if I were you... I'D FREEZE MYSELF UNTILL I GOT THAT THINGHope you enjoy it
-
Mine still in pre-production... Hope status change soon... can't wait
-
Anyone from the UK or Ireland who ordered in the first week or two of June had theirs arrive yet? Or what status is your order at if not? Trying to work out if I'm being fed BS by Dell rep on email who's talking about shortages of M17X assemblies. Thanks.

Hey guys, I think you (680m orders) might have to power up the stasis chambers, although I hope not for your sakes
The 680 has been eagerly awaited and even Nvidia missed the boat with getting it out to go head-to-head with the 6970. Anyone, but us NV fanboys, has already bought the AMD based on performance alone - let alone the price differential.
The jury is still well and truly out on the performance front with no real amount of user data yet.
Anyway, although Dell might advertise a hardware refresh close together around the globe, when there is a shortage of components, only so many are allocated to each division. Previous experience seeing this says that the most go to the US, followed closely by Canada (too close to stand all the complaints eh?), then UK/Western EU,ROW. China is probably an exception but they do make them for everyone
You're in the lap of the gods and I know how long that wait is after seeing 'in-production'
Good luck, I'm sure it will be worth it -
Blimey O'Riley! My order has shipped today!!!

I am left a little confused by conflicting reports from the various support channels at Dell. Just hoping the order status isn't lying now, and in a day or so my tracking number goes live on the UPS website.

It was actually fun for the first couple of days, where in the world is it now? Once it hit the UK on the Friday the celebrations started I knew I needed to take a chill-pill (well a few pints actually).
Oi, Ms Windsor, I have a few words for you ... -
Brand new to the boards and pretty excited about my new purchase, I ordered a m17x r3 from the Dell outlet last week. It was a scratch and dent machine and they are running a promotion of 20% off outlet machines so I got a great deal. But my machine has been "in production" for 4 days is that normal? What kind of turn around time should I expect? Thank you!
Sent from my LG Spectrum 4G using Tapatalk 2 -
Yes, usually takes like 2 weeks for "production" time. Then they will ship.
Btw congratz on the new purchase, I'm just about to get a m17x as well -
Mine finally in production! Can't wait....
-
its a R3 not the newest R4? i wouldn't say you got a great deal there yet, unless you tell us the specs and final $ price. -

'Scratch and dent' is a category of refurbished Dell laptops that may have small blemishes (scratches and/or dents).
In most cases this means a small, not so visible scratch but some received really trashed systems. -
How long does it normally take for the tracking number to go live on UPS website guys? I got the tracking number on Saturday, it's not yet on UPS's system.
Also, for those in the UK, how long did it take from shipping to delivery? And also where does it depart from?
Thank!

Well I got it delivered today which is right on the EDD.
Looks so much better than the R2 although without an SSD I can honestly say it actually feels less responsive, shows just how important the thing is. Problem is I don't have time to to buy it till Friday and I don't want to waste my time setting the computer up only to re-do everything on Friday after I put the SSD in so I'm just going to leave in the closest for a few days and then I'll set it all up once the SSD is in there.
All in all I'm pretty happy with the product it looks bloody amazing but I won't get a real chance to play with it till I have my next day off so I can't wait to have it all organised then I can put my current M17xR2 on sale -
