M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 4

The warranty starts the day it ships. Mine started the 9th of March. I received it the 13th of March.

 

I just stick with the generic for re-sale purposes.

Good to know, the 2 weeks could make a difference down the track.

 

my ordered 19th June, EDD 5th July, sales rep told me it will be likely end of this month. Cannot wait.

 

Ordered mine on June 8th(with custom nameplate) with an EDD of June 28th but after talking to them this morning it is ready to ship and they expedited it to overnight so it will be here tomorrow morning(21st), I cannot wait! I don't think I will sleep tonight

 

Ordered from Xoticpc Monday, building today, hoping they can ship it end of this week!

 

For people who got the delivery expedited, was this free? Did you have to push Dell for them to do that?

 

I didn't have to ask, after updating me on my order status the rep told me that he had expedited my order(no extra charge of course). I already had gotten 1 business day shipping so it was not a huge bump up. While I cannot generalize, I think it is always a good idea to get in contact with them, you never know what it might get you

 

Well my rep told me to email her on Friday (tomorrow) to ask her to expidite the delivery so I will do that.

On another note I bought a cheapo laptop for my niece for her school work and was originally told a two week build + delivery time but it's getting delivered tomorrow which is 8 days. Currently with "local carrier". The ETA still shows 26 but it's getting delivered tomorrow which is 22nd (Australia time).

I would love it for my Alienware to come 10 days early which would be one week away.

I ordered the damn thing on 14 June, ETA 05/07, 3 weeks 2 days from order to ETA. That feels like a lifetime when you're waiting on a new beast to get delivered but at least I have my current M17xR2 to console myself with, haha

 

Yeah it's a bear of a wait. I ordered one day before you and originally had the same EDD. Got bumped up to the 3rd when they placed me on NBD after calling in. Assuming there are no stock shortages, I'm optimistic that it might come sometime late next week after reading other reports on early shipping.

Looks like standard production time right now is averaging 6-10 business days. From what I could tell based on reseller websites, there was a stock out on the 7970m cards until June 19th, which might've led to that extra week of delivery time on the EDD. Since Dell likes to overestimate, there's a chance those computers could ship sooner than later.

That's my little theory anyways. I feel your pain.

 

Well hopefully we can both get the one week early. That would be a nice and welcome surprise.

Once I get mine I'm going to backup my current Laptop, setup my new one then put the old R2 for sale. Should still get over $1000 with a 256GB SSD and 2 5870's.

 

Got it 3 days ago and I've already had to contact dell for a replacement due to some cmos/bios problems, maybe just the cmos batter, maybe the whole motherboard, talk about lemons xD

 

At the end of week 4, still no laptop. Hopefully, week 5.

 

Well my ETA has been moved forward by 3 days from 05/07 of 02/07 after I asked for expedited shipping.

Status is now "Manufacturing Build Complete" which says it's preparing for shipment.

Judging by that would their be a fair chance I could get it in the next 7 days assuming the "expedited shipping doesn't take longer than 3-5 days (Which is FedEx international express time frames)?

 

Just put in my order for a new M17R4 with the 680M. So now the 4 week wait begins..

 

Just called in to check about a gift card and got a status update saying my computer is built and passed QC, and is supposed to be shipping out to arrive on Wednesday almost a week early. I'm a little excited now.

If it arrives as promised,

Order date - 6/13
EDD - 7/3
Early Arrival - 6/27

 

I just received a text message saying reply "1" for delivery 28 June or 2" for 29 June or 3 to receive a phone call.

I promptly replied 1. If I do receive it on the 28, that would be one full week earlier from the original 05/07 EDD.

 

Is it normal to be in pre-production status for 11 days? I thought it may have entered 'in production' by now!

Meanwhile my order has now been marked as "Shipped from Factory" Wohooo, my baby is on its way!

 

where are you looking? the best way to find out your order status is doing the online chat with a alienware rep and giving them your order number. They will give you the most up to date status. Most likely yours is already awaiting shipment. But then again - I'm not too sure about the UK. My turnaround time from order to delivery was about 10 days - but im in the US

 

Using the support website link they give you in the order confirmation email. I've just downloaded the iPhone app which gives a different slant on it's status instead saying 'work in progress'.

I've emailed support and also Tweeted @dellcares for more information.

 

Support via Twitter is fast becoming the quickest way of receiving a response from support services!

Within 15 minutes of Tweeting @dellcares I'd had a response and my order has been expedited.

 

Mine is sitting in that for 3 days now...

 

Twitter support (@dellcares) told me that it should not normally sit in pre-production for anymore then a week.

12 days and counting for me now, but at least support are aware of my order now I've brought it to their attention, I'm hoping I'll hear something more this week.

 

Spoke with @dellcares again this evening (I'm in the UK) and my order is actually in post-production so I wouldn't pay any attention to their online order tracker. It doesn't seem to be very accurate.

Credit to Dell Twitter support team. Really quick to reply.

Edit: since talking to @dellcares I just noticed my online status has now switched to 'in production'. I'm hopeful that it may ship in the next couple of days then.

*sigh* I placed my order five days ago. This morning my order was cancelled -- not placed on hold, cancelled -- because when they called to verify the purchase no one answered the phone. They called home, where no one answered because, you know, people work. I had given them my cell phone as my contact number. No problem reinstating the order, but my shipping date, as a result of a five-day delay, was set back two weeks. Frustrating.

 

I never received a call...does every order get a phone call!?

I don't know if every order does, but I got a call as well a few hours after I placed my order. You might want to call in to check that everything went through. I did and they bumped me up to NBD shipping without asking.

Speaking of which, out for delivery today! Original EDD of July 5th. Total time from order placed - 13 days / 9 business days. Wait's finally almost over.

 

I ordered on June 11th, EDD was June 29th, but it was delivered about an hour ago! Now I have to wait three hours before I can go home and check this beast out.

 

I'm not too worried I haven't had a call, things seem to be progressing and I've spoken with support and they never mentioned any hold ups due to this. Wondering if it's a USA thing only?

Good to know items ship before their EDD.

My M17x R4 is supposedly coming in tomorrow. Ordered June 12th, shipped today (June 26th)

 

Mine was order June 14, I got a text message a few days ago saying "reply 1 for delivery June 28, 2 for delivery June 29 or 3 to receive a call".

I promptly replied with 1 and received a confirmation message "Your shipping for order number... is confirmed for June 28" so I'm hoping I actually receive it tomorrow but the dell order status still shows ship from factory but I get the feeling it's not up to date. In the mean time I've asked Dell for a tracking number as that is always up to date by the shipping companies.

 

Kinda weird. I have never heard of a text message that lets you pick a delivery date. Why would anyone pick a later date?

 

Yeah the online report just doesn't update very quickly. There are some inconsistencies, too. I downloaded the Dell app and it showed a completely different EDD on one page, then my original EDD on another. Confusing lol.

 

I'm in Australia so it may be different.

You have to be home for the delivery to sign it off so they let you choose delivery dates so they can deliver to suit your schedule if needed.

That being said I just got a call saying they can no longer deliver it tomorrow and have no ETA on when as they have not yet received it but they said they'll call me in the next couple of days ...

I was so looking forward to receiving it tomorrow. If I don't get it by Friday I'll be pretty annoyed with Dell as I won't be able to play with it over the weekend.

 

Order is in pre-production still but I called Dell today and its because of the GTX 680M which is understandable since it just came out. Anyone having this issue??

 

Sadly no, as mine is shipping with the GTX 675M. 680 wasn't an option at point of ordering! Would be a nice surprise if it turns up with 680M and that's been the hold up though! I can keep dreaming lol

You didnt get the 7970m why? Even if you wanted 3d it would seem a silly thing to do.

 

Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully they'll get it out to you real quick!

 

Couple or reasons, biggest one being, I'm guilty of not having done enough research on the graphics card options. Second reason, I recently switched from a GeForce to a Radeon on my desktop and was underwhelmed and a little disappointed.

Although I am half tempted to ask, as it's still 'in production' whether they could swap it for the 7970...

Arrives tomorrow
Ordered on the 7th, order processed on the 11th, and the EDD goven was July 6th.

If anyone cares, I got the situation with QVC figured out, and I was correct in my suspicion that they just had outdated specs listed.

How well will it run the DayZ mod with the 660m & 3610?

 

Anyone know how accurate the EDD is for Canadian orders? Ordered today and has EDD of July 16th. My sales rep did say that it will get express shipping though. How long does Production usually take?

 

From what I gather reading through some of the replies to this post, most orders are given an EDD approximately 4 weeks from the purchase date. However it seems customers have been getting their orders between 1 and 2 weeks earlier then the EDD. Production seems to take anything from 2 to 3 weeks.

Doesn't seem to make much difference where you're located.

My order is still showing 'in production' but according to Twitter support team it was in the latter stages. Anyway, I received a reply today to an email I sent earlier in the week. It's not good news...

What did make me chuckle though, was when I replied to this asking which part was holding the order up he replied:

"We're waiting in the WHOLE assembly"

...!!

Basically then, they have a shortage of M17X assemblies at the manufacturing point.

Bad news for anyone that's placed an order in June (UK/EU issue only I'm assuming).

Well my "confirmed delivery date" of this morning (11pm here now) obviously didn't come however the Dell order status now shows as "Arrived in main hub".

I'm very dearly hoping I get it tomorrow so I can play with it on the weekend before I have to get back into work.

 

that's great news, I hope my order come earlier like those people, 4 weeks seem forever when you are waiting for your new toy to arrive...

Got mine mine this afternoon.

Keyboard is a little flexy, not sure whether or not I like that or not yet. Feels good to type on though. I also experienced a weird tearing/stretching type distortion in the audio, though only twice and I think it may just be a driver issue.

mine was ordered on the 19/06, today the status changed from "pre-production" into "in-production".
cannot imagine it will stay in "in-production" for long...
can't wait!!!

btw, I am UK based.

 

Not wishing to proverbial on your bonfire but I ordered mine 12th June. It went from pre-production to in production on the 25th June. It's still in production tonight AND they have confirmed to me via email that the assembly line DOES NOT have any M17X assemblies (basically all the parts...) and they are awaiting more to arrive from the manufacturers, which they have NO ETA for on their system

I'm UK based too so I would imagine the same problem affects all orders from UK, sorry to say.

Ordered mine yesterday 6/27. Website shows as "In production" with an estimated delivery date of 7/12 (free 2nd day shipping).

If already in production is it likely to ship prior to the estimated date?
