Just called in and the party that is delayed is the bottom door.

 

I am on the roller coast again today. Got another email from Dell today that my laptop is shipped!!!It should arrive any time next week...
Yesterday i was told my EDD date is delayed to the 16th July. i donno what's going on inside Dell. I hope this is the end of the long waiting. Finger crossed no more Dell emails.....

 

Good news. Seems you are not alone in getting 'delayed' emails followed by, 'no it's not, it's on it's way'. Still, better than no info at all . Roller coaster is exactly how it is - bi-polar?? 'No, I really am happy one minute, sad the next

My order was placed on the 19th/June. EDD was 5th July. My order stayed in "in-production" for 7 working days...

Mine is in production since monday (7/2)...

Are you US also? I'm hoping mine comes from Nashville bc I usually get 2nd Day shipments overnight from that area. lol

 

Yes, I'm in Kansas. 2nd Day overnight from Nashville is definitely doable! Very exciting, I have watched every unboxing vid on youtube... twice.

 

haha I've watched every unboxing video too. been lurking for a bit now and I finally decided to post cause everyone's cool here.

I ordered June 27th and it processed for only one day then immediately went "in production" and it's been that way ever since. EDD is july 16th like a lot of people here. The rep emailed me 2 days ago saying there's a shortage on one of the parts but there's still a possibility it would arrive before the EDD...I doubt that but who knows. happy waiting guys! actually more like torturous waiting lol

I am in the exact same boat as you regarding the dates ordered and EDD. I haven't emailed or anything just been sitting, waiting, impatiently waiting and smashing the refresh button non stop it seems. Maybe I should Put some time into trying to sell my sig laptop. Lol. Lazy I am.

So how did you get an EDD earlier than mine, I wonder?! I ordered on June 23rd. But then, I've had no emails about delays so could it be that you ordered the nvidia processor? Mine is being built with the AMD 7970M.

I've read some reports that the notation on the Dell display sometimes never changes... and suddenly there's an email in your box with tracking info with a next day delivery date! Pity... all that key-smashing for naught!

 

i stopped hitting the refresh button out of hopelessness and despair! i just look at it twice a day now because i know the "in production phase" will last a week at least so i stopped setting myself up for those seconds of hope followed by hours of disappointment lol my health cannot handle it. also i'm glad we're the same EDD =) that way we can see who actually gets theirs first and be EDD buddies? no homo

Well i called the customer support number and waited to speak with someone and they said it's still in production but asked for my email because they apparently didn't have it. next morning a rep called me and left a message saying one of the parts is missing and sent an email with the same info so i emailed him back a few times and kept being nice and all that. now i'm waiting for him to update me.

and yea i got the nvidia geforce gtx 660m. i knoww i knoww it's the crappiest option lol but 50% of the purpose behind my purchase for an alienware laptop is to play diablo lol and the specs are more than enough. my ps3 is more for gaming, this will be fast smooth machine for diablo and for the upcoming school year + multimedia and sound mixing/recording. i might upgrade to the 7970 when it gets cheaper. i gotta keep working to pay this off first lol

 

No worries, you can always upgrade later if you like. I'm certainly no parts elitist ... this'll likely be the one time I'll have what's considered a really current computer. I asked because the GTX 680M is the latest/greatest and some have been told AW is using up the supply as fast as they get them.

I think, given your experience, I may shoot an email off to my sales guy... just to get some news other than the auto display!

Ordered my machine on 29th June. Processed 2nd - 4th. Now sat in Pre-production since. EDD is 20th July.

The wait is killing me, i sit at work all day refreshing my order status page, refreshing this forum and checking my emails. I emailed the rep who i spoke to when i ordered because i had a timeout error when i purchased and the whole thing disappeared from my trolley. I have emailed him to see if he can get me a faster shipping time. He said he would try his best.

Anyway specs on the up and coming beast...

7/20 is the date of the last beta weekend for Guild Wars 2. I'm hoping mine arrives in time for that!

The wait is killing me, but I received a phone call Wednesday letting me know that I have been bumped up to next day shipping and it will ship before the 11th. Excited to back with alienware

"Settled" for the 7970m because of student type income, only thing that is deviating from the "standard" 3610 with 7970 build is the 60gb mushkin atlas ssd for caching that I'm going to install whenev gets here (assuming I can find the msata )

 

Cant believe you have to wait so long Blackbean and all because of the name plate engraving? Surely it doesn't make that a month and half plus whatever you need to wait now?

They are taking the piddle with that one. Did they sort you out compensation for the delay? What was your original EDD and when do you expect it now?

 

Just ordered my M17x through QVC, with EDD of 8/20. It's going to be a LONG month. I'm hoping my order will be the same as another poster on here that ordered through QVC and it ends up being a R4.
QVC was my only option financially and I'm just happy they have easy pay.

My long wait is nearly over! I originally ordered a Sager 9150 with a 7970 card from Xoticpc. I waited for a month for the 7970 to come back in stock, but I got tired of waiting and canceled it and ordered a m17xR4 from Dell. After a couple days of haggling I got the price I wanted, but after a week I check on the order status and it was canceled! So, I was about to give up on the new laptop until I found a m17xR4 in the nbr market place, with all the features I wanted (and more) for a really great price. so now my laptop is shipping and should be here by Thursday!

Ordered my R4 yesterday and my EDD is 18/7 which as i have been reading is fairly quick, but my order has been on pre-production for a while now and i have a feeling something may be wrong, as people have said that alot of parts arent available i hope everthings okay!

Ordered my M17x R4 today with NBD shipping and its in production currently with estimated ship date of 7/20.

 

Congrats. Never sure what NBD gives you since they all come from China but hey-ho, anything that speeds it up!

 

How can your order be in pre-production for a while if you just ordered it yesterday? Dell doesn't always update the status page immediately. My order was shipped (my rep gave me my tracking number), but my status page still said in-production. Don't start freaking out until you start to reach your EDD with no change to status.

 

I ordered mine early last week, and I got estimated ship date of 7/20 also, ...

 

I just ordered mine, they gave me free next business day shipping and the order is supposed to be delivered around 7/19.

 

yup can't believe it myself, part of it is due to the fact that i live on the other side of the world from USA, second, they delayed my order for a month due to the high demands of 7970M (at least thats what their excuse).
so after a month i made another inquiry and they said that they've a broken engraving machine and i have to wait for another 2 weeks!!!
makes you think if i have alien name that human's tongue can't even pronounce or hands to write

anyway going to pick up the laptop today, and they did promised me some compensation, i just don't know what.

Okay, that's pretty funny! I just assumed they were assembled in the States somewhere. When I placed my order I was told they were going to gift me with 2nd day delivery. I suppose that's only slightly more feasible than NBD.

 

Actually, thinking about it maybe some sort of assembly does go on in the states, it's the only place (apart from maybe Canada) where you get an engraved nameplate (that could introduce a delay) AFAIK.

 

It wasn't an option, as you know, for us Brits. However, it's 4 screws holding the plate down. Easily removed and would probably be quicker just ordering the laptop without the engraving, and taking it to your local key cutting and engraving shop to have it done, then to wait on Dell!

I think a lot of problems seem to be that people are ordering from non-dell approved resellers. These people order them in the states to a US address - getting the nameplate done. They then ship them (sometimes undervaluing them for tax purposes) to the country of destination - big delay. Also you have to hope they do the international warranty transfer so you can get support from Dell.

They also make out since they pay actual exchange rates and not the inflated prices we see when comparing $ to GBP. /soapbox_off

 

Ah I see. Really cheeses me off how we pay 1:1 when it comes to US vs UK RRP's.

It can do. It's just a paper trail into China and we know how hard those guys work . No chance of it getting shipped though...

I've just ordered the M17x from QVC and had numerous questions about your experience (as far as warranty, specs, etc). I asked a Dell Rep and they wouldn't really say anything other than trying to get me to order through them <G>
Is the warranty through Dell? Did it end up being a R4 even though on the page it says it's the 2670 CPU, how did you track it and such?
Any help would be appreciated,
