12th delivery date! Although its still in Korea so not sure how it will make it to my door in 24 hours... I will be impressed if it does!
-
Yesterday I was showing my friend how well Skyrim runs on it... and I was wondering why the fps was a bit lower than usual, still running perfectly smooth tho..... and I realized I had GTA4 running in the background hahaha xD
So far it's maxed out every game I've tried and chewed em upI tell you, anybody here waiting for their laptop... don't understand how much better it performs, looks, feels, is ... when you finally get it for yourself. I've looked at thousands of gameplay videos, a thousand times each.. And a thousand unboxings... I had no idea, that didn't even prepare me for this

I ordered a new M17x R4 on October 12th, paid close to $3000, original Estimated Delivery Date was November 6th, but it's been delayed twice.
According to the current (11/10) online M17x configurator, only the Nebula Red option has a delay (5 days). I ordered Nebula Red on 10/12. The online 'Order Status' webpage seems to only be updated on Saturday mornings in case of delays, (when the office is closed), at least in my case.
After the 1st delay, I waited until they were open on Monday, and called my Sales Rep, but he hasn't returned my VMs or emails ever since the day that I purchased the new M17x. (2 VMs & 2 emails) I spoke with another Sales Rep who told me that several components weren't in stock but she wouldn't specify which.
After the 2nd delay, Dell added this to my 'Order Status':
Federal Trade Commission Requirements
Due to unforeseen circumstance, we have experienced another delay with your order number XXXXXXXXX. Our new Estimated Delivery Date will be on or before 11/19/2012(updated). Due to this additional delay, the Federal Trade Commission requires we receive your consent to continue with this order else we will be forced to cancel the order automatically.
You must choose one of the following links:
Consent to this delay and continue with this order.
Consent to this delay and all future delays and continue with this order.
Cancel This Order
So I clicked 'Cancel This Order', and it tells me to call a phone number, but of course the office is closed. So I leave a VM to cancel my order.
In hindsight, it probably was unwise of me to order a brand new M17x at close to full price after the fiasco I had with a Dell Outlet Refurbished M17x that I purchased back in September. The Outlet M17x arrived with dead pixels, missing parts, LCD randomly shutting off, corrupt OS, nothing in the shipping box except for the power supply and 2 foam cushions, etc. Dell agreed to send me a Replacement M17x but while it was still in production, I checked it's components list and noticed that it had a GTX 675M instead of a 680m, so I called Dell and they cancelled this replacement system order.
So after spending over 13 hours on the phone over several days with Dell's Customer Service Reps in several departments, they finally agreed to me returning the refurbished M17x for a full refund. But of course they shorted me on the refund for shipping charges and part of the tax. In the past month I have talked to 7 representatives in Dell Financial Services, including 2 Personal Care Support Specialists who all assured me that within 3-5 days, I would be refunded the remaining amount, but it's been over a month and they still haven't refunded the remaining amount.
And did I mention that Dell shipped me several Replacement M17x's while I was waiting for the full refund? I noticed this online and I had to call FedEx myself and stop shipment, since after several calls to Dell, they didn't bother to stop shipment from the Dell Return/Refurbishing Depot or FedEx. And to top it all off, a manager in the Dell Returns Department called me and said that the replacements that were mistakenly shipped to me was not set up by him, but another person in his department. So a manager with Dell passed the buck and blamed one of his subordinates.
This is Dell Home Sales Customer Service, whose service has deteriorated considerably in the last 10 years that I've been a customer. Dell Enterprise Customer Service, which I talk to several times a month for my employer (Dell's biggest customer) is much better.
Sorry for the long post and rant, but this is getting ridiculous. -
just had an email edd 18dec from 13 nov and all they said they were waiting for is a power lead that will make it two months waiting arghhh!
-
To all of you who are waiting, I hope it comes on time and you will enjoy it, was a excruciating wait for me as well.
-
Based on all the reading over the last few months and since I ordered mine (10/29 - EDD 11/27), I have heard shortages of everything from motherboard (my rep), to power lead, to lid, to hinges, to bag (my rep, but I didn't order a bag...), to video card, etc etc.
It's almost like the sales reps have a random component generator program and "spin the wheel" to get a part name to tell the customer in order to explain any delays. -
Just received an email saying that my order has shipped, I hope that it comes into Vancouver and not Toronto so I can have a speedy delivery!

I was just thinking after seeing all this that it is simply the factory has problems with periods of high volume, especially when they will be doing 'runs' to different parts of the world - keep the shipping cost down! I see:
'customer calls asking when to expect delivery.
Computer says got problems start with delay tactic 1.
This is recorded against your order and the next guy just moves on to 'delay tactic 2'. Great idea except with a bunch of people on different 'parts shortages' talking to each other kinda gives it away -
I have been a customer of Dell for home and corporate use for many years and personally specced out and recommended the purchase of several million dollars worth of server/san's, then led my DR team to install them, but this laptop stuff is frustrating to say the least. -
order status just updated to in production dose this mean they have my parts now i cant work dell out as today they sent me an email saying they are waiting for parts and put delivery time to the 18 dec
-
-
great and now if you cancel there will be a restocking fee
-
Where did you see that? If there is a restocking fee, it should only be for a completed laptop and not one in production.
-
-
quick question for the people who received theres early and on time, did yall have just regular shipping, or was it overnight shipping, 2 day shipping etc?
-
-
Ugh . They cancelled my order (EDD 21st nov), called me, asked me to re-confirm billing details, so I did, and it was the exact same, they said okay. new EDD 5th Dec. and they'll email me an order number. Still haven't received . while funds are still on hold on my Mastercard. I don't have an order number or ANYTHING atm. I swear if they give me a new EDD of like 20th December i'll be pissed cos i'm leaving the country on 17th and going back to UAE for a months vacation -.-
-
Still within my EDD of December 3rd, ordered on October 31st. I sent an email to Dell just asking them to be up front and honest with me regarding my order status. Wishfully hoping for my order to arrive sometime next week but I know that's not going to happen. Here's to the monkey Dell assigns to bull me on my order.
Also, glad to here that you got your rig, LeoVanio. I've been keeping up on your struggles in this thread during my breaks at work. Enjoy, sir! -
You know the wait is getting long when you are watching more unboxing and review videos than undressing videos .
-
-
On a side note, does anyone know if liquid cooling addons are available for the M17x R4? I saw a prototype for the M18x, but haven't really gone searching yet since I don't have the laptop in hand. -
Update on mines, so i tried to cancel mines today, but the guy told i couldnt cancel it cause its still in production, so i told him so its just going to sit there forever then? he had no words, does dell take returns? cause by the time it gets here, or whenever it gets here i will have something else
-
Same story, after 1 month in preparation status, i called the client service and told them if the EDD is passed i will cancel, guess what the next day it went into production and is still in production....how can a company like Dell treat and lie to customsers like that.. anyway i think we have a 7 days legal retractaion, so call them again and say that you will return your order once they send it so they shouldn't bother sending it and they should cancel it (France)
-
ok now im really confuse, ok so i called 6 reps from dell today, yep i wanted to drive them crazy of me calling, lol, anyways they are now staying consistent with there answers, not sure if they are bluffing or not, but i talked to 3 people on the phone and 3 chats, and they all say that it has been shipped from the manufacture, and that i should wait 24-48hours for it to update online, i asked every one of them could yall give me an EDD but they said they cant right now, cause its not updated for them yet, not sure if anybody else had the same thing said, please let me know

Day 25 of my M17x order (Ordered on the 18th)
5th day In Production, still waiting to hear back whether there's been some other delay.
Oh well, I really need a UK retailer to decide to sell the Samsung SSD 840 Pro to complete the machine, so I guess a few more days won't hurt... -
I watched gameplay and unboxings for 6 months straight :|
-
-
Because my plan is... record some of almost every game I have, and upload them at once so people can see how it performs on every gameI hate those guys who post one or two gameplays on youtube.... and you go to their channel every day for 2 weeks waiting to see more "gameplay with the 680M" or whatever but they post nothing new xD
I promise I'll try get a ton of gameplay up as soon as possible -

ive just been told my order is delayed till 18th dec due to a shortage of a mouse pad what a load of twoddle that will make it 2 months
-
-
thats what i think as everytime i phone up and its been alot of times. they give me some other part thats missing at one point they only had the ram didnt even have the laptop casing -
so yea my roomie finally got a contact back yesterday for the chat he did on thursday where they told him a case worker would contact him and give him updated information on parts shortage, all they told him in the call was that the order was in production and that the estimated delivery date was 11/28 among other things. basicly all they told him was exactly what you can find on the order status page and nothing else that was usefull for finding out if things are still backordered or whatever. really not happy with how this is going
-
all i want is a plain and simple answer the truth would be good but it just feels like they are always stalling and coming up with stupid reasons why my machine is delayed surly they know where there upto in production its got to be the worst company ive bought from makes you wonder what the warranty service is going to be like probably say they have an engineer but no van to get him too you
-
I honestly do believe that once the laptop is in hand that we will all be very satisfied, since it has some incredible components. The part that really sucks is that for a company that is supposed to be "the" premier laptop builder, they should have a much better system for tracking your item.
You should be able to follow each step of the build, with everything from webcams that do virtual "tagging" of your item as it traverses the assembly line (red rectangle around your laptop on the line), to benchmark results from the burn-in posted to your personal tracking page. The entire build should be a transparent and celebratory event, worthy of the AW name, as high tech as the laptop itself.
Just my opinion, but that's how I would do it if it were my company and proclaimed myself the best laptop builder around. -
-
id also say if its something like a mouse pad they should offer to send it when they have it in stock again after the laptop is shipped or if you dont want it then just remove it from the packing list. i know i prolly wont use it, i never used my last one cause it was too big for the board i put under my laptop
-
Yeah really. Ship it later or not at all. No sense in holding up a 2-4k laptop for a 50 cent mousepad. -
phoned again and they are now saying for the second time that they are now waiting for a kettle lead that conects to the power supply and know nothing about a mouse pad this really is getting on my nerves
-
then focused on making time fly for another week, and then another update
it came sooner than it felt, and it came almost 2 months after I made the payment
calling them won't speed it up, it'll just make you frustrated
-
after all the messing it will be here on friday so it dose look like they really dont have a clue
-
Well it's official my comp is built and ready for FedEx (kinda strange would have thought UPS for sure) to pick up sometime tomorrow
. Pretty excited should be here Friday. Just two days shy of a complete month and it did get delay (which I am supposed to be compensated a $50 gift card to dell upon delivery) an extra week.
-
hi all, how long u have to wait for the ups link
