    Dell choose UPS.
When they dispatched your unit, you will get a link for track and trace in samme page where you checking status.

Wow, received a phone call today saying that my M17x r4 which was supposed to be delivered on the 12th will be delayed as there is a backorder of parts. A good company would work with me and see if I would want to either upgrade or downgrade the system with available components to speed up the process.

I ordered on 5th November, Website said estimate delivery date 3rd December, but the representative i spoke to (who gave me a good $100 further discount on my m17x) told me i'd get it in 10-12 days :D Just checked status, it's in production.

    Specs : 7970M AMD Gfx card, 12gb ram 1600Mhz, Recon3D sound card, Blu-ray reader, i7 3740QM, non-3d 1920x1080 wLed, 500gb 7200rpm + 64gb MSata, Killer wireless n1103, 3yr normal warranty. paid $2400 exactly for the laptop (CAD not USD). Seriously can't wait for it to arrive <3!

oh, one thing, i'm not sure if it's the r2, r3 or r4.. Though i think it's the r3. Canadian Dell website only gave 3 options (basic one was pathetic though starting at $1499, i chose the middle one, while the last one was like $2299 with 3D)

You got a solid system there :D

It is the R4. R3 and R2 and not in production anymore, as they were the previous generations of the M17x.

    R4 stands for Revision 4 :)

    Here's to a speedy delivery :D

Had to call my bank like w.tf are you doing :D haha but it's here now I'm picking it up from the DHL office in 3 hours :D

Just noticed that the GeForce GTX 680M option has been removed from all UK M17x configurators that I can find.

I'm assuming it's just stock problems, but don't they at least leave the option on there?

    Hi everyone,

Just ordered my first Alienware product. I chose the M17x R4 with the following spec (3630qm, 7970m, 8gb RAM, Windows 8, Killer Wireless & 1080p screen). Will also be installing a 128gb M4 SSD.

Just wanted to share as its all about the waiting game now!

    EDD is 10/12/2012

Just spoke to a customer service rep who said that there is a parts shortage. My m17x's production is on halt until Nov. 14, and it might take longer than the 1 month EDD :(

I feel your pain :-(. Got an email today stating there is a parts shortage and they will not be able to ship it out tomorrow as planned. They gave me a 50 dollar coupon but I would just rather have it sooner than a coupon.

I think it may be the 7970m since it's an upgrade mostly everyone goes with.. i really hope mine comes before EDD.. ordered on 5th Nov, customer service guy said i'd receive it by 15th-17th Nov. (He said 10-12 days, assuming he meant business days, 22nd Nov)

I wouldn`t believe anything Dell Customer Service tells you regarding order status... Like I said before, two weeks ago they told me my m17x order was practically finished and ready to ship, was told someone would follow up who never did, and now today the motherboard is on backorder..... to me this makes absolutely zero sense. Reading thru these forums they seem to tell people the SAME THING, as if they have a script consisting of:
    1) Your order is almost ready
    2) We have expedited your order (whatever that means...)
    3) We are very sorry we are working very hard to fulfill your order

I would rather someone just tell me the truth rather than lie to me and tell me stories to try to make me happy and get me off the phone.IF its going to take 4 weeks to build my computer based on WHATEVER reason just tell me that, not ``soon`` or ``7-10 days``

I expressed my concern about order status when I ordered I specifically asked if the laptop would be ready by a specific date as after that I will be out of the country for a month, they told me yes 3 weeks ago and in 3 days my plane leaves and the computer is still in production with a mobo backorder..... just poor poor service in my opinion.

I`m located in Canada too if anyone is wondering

^ crap, not happy to hear that.. my HP laptops warranty expires on 22nd Nov, which is why when he said i'd have the system by 21st November i was happy. my hp laptops fan has failed and i really need a 24/7 pc for university.

Rusty, what specs and what price did you pay? i spoke to a customer agent and i've been telling them i'd order for 2 weeks now and that my main reason for not ordering was the delivery date, he said i'd get it by or before 21st November and that's like one of the main reason i bought an Alienware instead of a readymade hp envy ultrabook.

    Happy days

On a side note I have noticed that they have dropped the 680m from the graphic card list on the M17x laptop configurator.

ok so my roomie contacted dell for an update, im in the US just so folks know right off, they have a shortage of keyboards, 4gb ram and the basic wireless lan card Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230, (i plan on using my old wireless card or asking for an upgrade if we have to call again). hopefully that will help anyone else trying to get their system early, but i do want to say long ago i heard all systems were initially built in the same place (ie china or something) then shipped to a more localized center for the final touches for anything that cant be exported or something so small parts delays prolly effect everyone similarly

Yeah, in the US the machines come into a central location, get the nameplates and off from there to you. In Europe we track the machine from the factory (shanghi, China) directly to the user (no nameplates). I posted a track from China, across europe to me some time ago.

If CA can order nameplates then they will have that extra delay as well.

Yeah mine got cancelled twice before cuz of awesome dell service ( they thought it was identity theft lol). But that sucks for ya. I am lucky enough I stay pretty busy with my job so it keeps me busy enough not to ponder all day about my long awaited laptop lol. One day we will both be able to witness that extremely glossy screen :)

I ordered on 10/17 with an EDD of 11/9; I'm in the United States. I updated the GPU to the 7970 and the screen to 1080p. I got an e-mail and call saying they were going to give me next day shipping, so 11/8 was the new EDD. 11/8 comes and I'm told that it could ship in 48 hours. Then 11/9 I get an e-mail about the delay. The new EDD is 11/14. I called and got so many different answers. I then told them I knew about the part shortages; I said I just wanted to know, "is it actually ready as stated, or are we still waiting on a part?" I was told that it would ship out by the 11/12 and arrive on the 11/14. Wait, where did my next day shipping go? If it doesn't ship by Monday, I'm canceling.

Honestly, I just want accurate details and honesty.

Chat rep told me this morning that the motherboards were on backorder (USA order as well). It took me 3 different reps in several days to get an answer, and I hope they meet my EDD. One month + from order to delivery better be worth it...

that worries me cause i was hoping for sooner then one month, the main reason i went with alienware was because i like the look, ive had one before, and i felt it would be better if i ordered from the manufacturer rather then a reseller (such as xoticpc so still customizeable, not bestbuy), if i knew it was really going to take a full month or more cause of un declared delays i could have saved lots of money with a different brand with same stats just not as nice looking and such. my roomie is waiting for a case worker to email him about how long the parts delays will push back the order and some other stuff.

I can't imagine that it would take too long to get more boards in stock, since every single build likely hinges on that part, unless they use multiple part numbers for various options.

GO figure.. they told me i'd receive the laptop by 21st Nov 2012 BEFORE i ordered it, then now, like 4 days later, they cancelled the order only because "couldn't verify billing details", so i gave them the exact same details as last time, and they're like it's good to go now, and gave me a new EDD of 11/12/12 .. and then i spoke to them on the phone after going through hoops for 2-3 hours, and they're like "Oh don't worry we'll ship it out in the next 5 working days!" (because it was already in production even though i ordered it on 5th Nov) , and i'm still waiting for an email confirmation which they said they'd send out in an hour.. but by the time i spoke to an actual agent who knew what was going on, it was 6.30pm, and their office hours are only until 7pm.. so now i have to ing wait till monday for a new order confirmation.. on top of that, my Mastercard has already been billed nearly $3000 from the order, Dell on the phone was like they didn't bill it because they couldn't verify the billing address, and they said they'd bill it now... so another $3000, Ugh, i'm already starting to regret this purchase.. Could anyone let me know if they've actually been satisfied with their purchase or are all the dell reviews just the filtered good ones, while all the bad ones have been hidden?

I ordered the 2nd November here in Belgium with the 680M GPU. I hope my order won't have any problems due to the 680M problems as it has been removed since yesterday and it can't be chosen anymore in the configurator.

glad to know im not the only one, im in the US, and i ordered my m17x october 16th, and it had the Estimated delivery for november 9th, which was yesterday, a few days before i asked the dell rep that i havent got a confirmation email that it shipped, cause it been in production this whole time, and he told me that there was no delay in my order and he told me to wait for it on the 9th, which i did, all day, no one came, so later last night i did an online chat with dell last night, and they told me that it was still processing, and that they couldnt give me an estimated delivery time, the only thing they told me was that its a computer in high demand right now

Also to add, i did not crazy with my configuration, i kept my graphics card the same, GTX 660, and everything else, and the only thing i asked for was more ram, so instead of 4gb ram, i asked for 8gb ram, i could have done it myself though, but whatever

I have been thinking about just canceling it and starting over again, cause this is ridiculas, im not new to order laptops from dell, infact i ordered one a couple months ago, and within 5 days, they told me a shipping date, which was a week early from the original delivery time
