Ok, news update. I got a call this morning (I guess India works on USA Thanksgiving), and they gave me a FEDEX tracking number showing delivery this Saturday. That would be 27 days total wait time, and 3 days earlier than my EDD.

The kicker...my online order status has NOT changed yet.

Mine was supposedly shipped from China to USA on Monday which takes 3-4 business days apparently. So it is due to arrive in USA this coming Monday due to the thanksgiving break and reach me 2 days later. Not sure why it takes 4 days from China to USA but I really hope this is the truth. Pretty much the last time I order alienware from Dell. How do retailers provide 3-4 day production (provided parts are in stock) for $49 extra and dell takes more than a month? Ridiculous!

It took FedEx 5 days to ship my mini iPad from China to TX. Picked up Nov 14th, delivered by Nov 19th So I don't think that's not impossible.

Did you get tracking info when it was sent from China? I was told the tracking info as well as status change from "In Production" to "Shipped" would happen once the laptop was shipped from their US port to you.

Apple sent the tracking to me when it left the factory in China. I bought my M17x off eBay so I don't know how Dell do this stuff but technically, as long as you have the tracking number, you should be able to track it all the way from when it is picked up in China.

Can anyone tell me why my EDD is 19/12 when i ordered 2 weeks ago, while the alienware website (when i configured a m17x today, like right NOW) when i build a system with the exact same specs and stuff, the EDD on website is 14/12? .. ?

+, Now they're giving free BOps2 on order. wow.. just wow. -.-

I'm sorry Mendameister, I really didn't mean to tease you. I was hoping to raise a grain of hope in you guys. Concerning the changing deilvery dates: that's probably because their booking system always displays the most recent information while Dell almost never changes your delivery date, at least not in a favourable way... I was told that they'd have the issue with the delayed parts fixed by the end of November and mine is going to arrive three days early so you'll hopefully get yours soon too.

All that calling and pestering the CS reps paid off. My laptop is in transit from Nashville, TN and upgraded to next business day shipping by FedEx due to arrive Monday. Too bad FedEx doesn't do Saturdays but I will take it :)

If it was shipped by "FedEx Home Delivery", then they do deliver on Saturdays. My order hasn't updated yet today on their site, so I don't know if I can expect it to Florida from GA tomorrow or Monday though.

. My order was placed on 29th oct and is still in pre production. EDD is 4th dec.

Customer services told me it likely wont make that. FFS £3500 and this is the crap customer service i get for it.

Just hold on, its hard the wait I know, had it myself, still not past your EDD anyways so I wouldnt get too touchy, loads of supply issues with the m17x, have no idea why. Mine was a UK order, took about a week to be delivered after it went 'in production' just so you have a rough idea. Had a 3 week wait of 'pre production'. Was in production 2-3 days then shipped, took 4 days to be delivered since it was the weekend. Comes direct frmo china and will most likely be delivered by UPS or UK mail, walsh western may be involved in getting it frmo china to the UK then last leg by UK mail, otherwise its UPS all the way. Hope it comes soon though anyways :)
If you have any questions on the delivery or whatver just ask :)

    Hi all ,
my R4 was declared as shipped on 24/11/2012 07:00 am GMT +1 , but tracking Ups number is still on " UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Please verify your information and try again later " .

    Anyone have same issues?

UPS is pretty bad at updating its status the 1st time round, especially given the weekend. Wait till end of the day today or tomorrow at the latest. Mine has reached the lock FedEx office and that means I am staying home today until it arrives :)

Usually, this means the tracking number has not updated within the UPS system. I usually see packages are marked as shipped but the truth is they only buy the shipping label online for those packages but have not delivered them to the shipping company. That's why you get those kinda of notification.

I got my tracking number Thursday morning, but FedEx still hasn't picked up from Dell. Sucks that it's only located about 4 hours away and I have to sit here and wait...

Update: It finally got picked up by FedEx and they will deliver to me tomorrow. So, the moral of the story is, your EDD is probably the most likely date you will get your order since my order was 10/29 and EDD 11/27...

Ordered 10/31, EDD 12/03, delivered 11/26. Atlantic Canadian region.

    i7 3740QM (up to 3.7GHz)
    HD 7970m
    12 GB DDR3 RAM
    1920x1080 GLORIOUS HD
    1 TB HDD
    Nebula Red, mutha as.

I had it delivered around 12pm yesterday. It's been a gruelling month, but it's all paid off. This is the most beautful piece of hardware I've ever owned, and I've gotten a fluid near-60FPS with 1920x1080 and max settings for the games I've tested. (The Witcher 2, Black Ops 2, Skyrim)

For those lost souls still waiting to find the light; hold fast on to hope, that the next day may bring you what you seek, or some other crap like that. Thanks for the insight and comfort this thread has provided, and remember, COMMENCE THE JIGGLIN' YA'LL.

    Ordered on 11/07. EDD: 12/18.

Hi, I'm new, but wanted to let you all know, I ordered my m17x on 11/3 with the 680m and 3d screen, my EDD was 12/3 and just checked my order status again and it will show up tomorrow 11/28! It seems as though most of these laptops are arriving a little early lately... man am I frickin pumped! I will need some help when my dual intel SSD's show up in a few days, I want to run them in raid 0 and really have no clue how to do that!

    It's simple.

Install windows, install intel RST select the two SSD's and click to enable them in RAID 0 (striped).

    Reboot and enjoy :)

So take out old 500gb HD, pop in 2 SSD's and install windows via DVD (if I have it?) ? or do I need to go to BIOS and select raid 0 first?

Yes take out and put them in.

You can change bios to raid first but it's easier to keep in sata then just install RST and let it sort it for you.

If you put in raid first then install windows you will need to provide the RAID drivers at install time.

Or you can put them in, go to the BIOS, under SATA operation switch to RAID, make sure the oROM is enabled.

Restart, press ctrl+i when prompted to enter the oROM. There you can set up the RAID 0 (striped). <-- Step by step guide

Once the RAID array is ready, install Windows 7. You'll need to download and install the latest drivers, you can find them with the correct installation order here.

Hey guys first post on Notebookreview! recently ordered a M17x with specs below on the 20/11 and the EDD is 21/12, wondering how reliable the EDD is and whether it'll arrive before or after. I'd love it before Christmas but I've been hearing that there are some stock issues at the moment regarding Alienware laptops so I'm pessimistic

    Specs : Alienware M17x | 6GB RAM | AMD Radeon HD 7970M | 500GB ATA HDD (7,200rpm) | Intel® Core™ i7-3740QM | HD display (1920x1080) | Killer Wireless-N 1103

    Hey everyone,

I was just wondering when you M17X'S went in to production in compairson to when they were shipped.

I ordered mine on the 7th November and its still in pre production now. I spoke to a dell rep a few weeks ago and was told that all my parts would be in and available on either the 27th or 28th. My EDD is the 10th Decemeber.

Do you think it will arrive on time?

Well I ordered my laptop on the 5th November 2012 (ETA 07/12/2012). 28th November it gets cancelled without any notification. I phone up and find its cancelled due to Windows 7 not being available, so I accepted Windows 8.

They now tell me its cancelled due to part shortages apparently and now arnt able to tell me when it will be back in production. Customer service dont know what there doing, the factory doesnt know what its doing and my account manager cant speak a word of English. Not a good experience from a company I deal with every day for work.

Dont know how long ill have to wait now. Hope its not to long. I would like help from any reps on here please...

Here's mine - just shipped yesterday. Super excited!

    Ordered on 11/10/2012
    EDD was 12/13/2012
Updated EDD according to Dell's site is 12/06/2012
Updated EDD according to FedEx's site is 12/04/2012

It's coming from just outside of Los Angeles, CA. I'm in Phoenix, AZ. I chose the 7 day ground shipping.
(Which is weird - LA is only 5.5 hours away from me. It's 400 miles. I could totally just go get it! lol)

    Alienware M17X R4
    3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3630QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
    17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED
    2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M
500GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s (I might upgrade this later, depends on performance)
