ya from what spare parts told me it includes everything except the back lcd cover...
-
usually its just the screen and front part since its sealed... there would be additional part numbers if it included webcam, bracket for it, and the light in the logo along with back cover and light.. believe me.. I have swapped out the screens on the r1... they all have diff part numbers..
-
ya well judging from the one that is on ebay 150420751182
it looks like the kit with the front glass... -
i want to buy one but don't want to spend that kind of money.
for 600 more I could have a 27" imac! -
It iwll include the front glass as its sealed... let me find my old pictures
-
ya the alien head is installed in the lcd cover. i remember taking it off and plugging it into the lcd assembly.
-
here is the post i had on the pics

It was no quickneasy task.. took forever on transferring everything over. -
another thing that i noticed is that on the r2 lcds it comes with three wifi antennas instead of 2 that are found on my r1. that way you can fully utilize the 6300 intel
-
Yea when they did the replacement they didnt do the ultimate card. Its the base line one.. I am probably going to order the better card and install it myself.
-
ya i bought a 6300 of ebay a few weeks ago. thing is a ton better than the 1510 card
-
You can always order the part by itself.
Plus, you can sell your CCFL later on. -
Thanks!! -
Just remind me not to forget to swap them back later. Wouldn't be too great to send the RGB back with the R1 -
I look forward to this, doubt it will work but wouldn't mind being wrong so the R1 guys could have RGB.
-
I will try not to.. that would be bad ahaha -
Heck, can't focus on working today with all the excitement...
-
-
any update yet?
-
Bad news, it didn't even post. The only thing that worked is the ALIENWARE title that lit up with the correct color.
Some pics will follow, too tired and need to assemble the R2 now.... -
Just to prove that I'm not joking and did the freaking operation (had to do it 4 times, due to my own mistakes
)
here is a pic. That's all for today, it's 1:30 AM and I'm too tired to think.Attached Files:

Hmmmm strange....any chance you forgot something? Since the other guy said it worked for him...he did just register to post it worked for him though so maybe he is lying
.

I'd +rep you for it, if I didn't get the "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Aikimox again." message. -
+rep for your efforts! -
the reason it didnt post is because you did not unplug the cmos battery for 30 seconds. My computer did the same thing. Try unplugging the cmos and you will see that it works. The connectors from both the r1 lcd and r2 lcd are identical. I wouldn't just waste my time posting something....
-
But wB' I hope your right, because some R1 ppl are hoping to get their rig working with a RGB screen. -
im 100% correct I can assure you. I will post a pic in a second because I did it again last night because I was honestly just tired of people doubting me.

Thats freaking sweet.... Thanks alot!!! -
Thanks for all your trouble, some of us are just listening in out of curiosity and it's fun to here what the results are. -
...............e

-
The connectors ARE IDENTICAL!
I'll do it again guys, and this time will clear CMOS.
Thanks for the tip, wish I thought about it yesterday. -
-
ya once you clear the cmos for 30 seconds or so it will fire right up
-
Well, I for one hope this works (it seems like it will). No one should be left with that other CCLF on this computer. And I know someone who would love it. But $1,174.99? Are they serious? That is crazy expensive. I hope it includes labor, shipping, etc, so there is a chance to get the part alone cheaper.
-
from the info that I received over the phone from the spare parts department it seems there is no discounting. The kit includes the display and the front glass. (it doesn't include the webcam). I think she mentioned the webcam was around 75 or so dollars.
-
You'll be able to buy them for 500-700$ on Ebay soon enough. The CCFLs cost around 500$.
-
man i hope that i can get one for 500

I was going to try to get one out of them to make up for the poor quality and dissapointment that the CCFL is.....but I need to be able to prove to them beyond a doubt that it works!
wB can you take a better picture that you can more clearly see the monitor model as well as the CPU-Z window?
Thanks a ton guys, you have given us hope! -
hey i would take another picture but i have my crappy ccfl wuxga back on now and don't think my friend will let me tear down his computer again
-

and Aikimox, you tore your machine down a little more than needed. You can leave that huge magnesium plate on and just remove the wires for the BT and wireless and feed them through the holes. I hate having to deal with the huge stupid plate....like 10 extra screws
-
@work right now, will do the nasty in the evening.
On a side note, my CF is mulfunctioning, tried running Crysis but the picture is trembling and floating, though both cards heat up. During normal use there are no issues. Updating to 10.3 didn't help, so I'll reseat the GPUs and the CF cable and then try again from scratch (fresh install), if it doesn't work, will try a single GPU. Will be very disappointed if they sent me the machine with faulty parts. -

My 4870s seemed new when I got them, hope it works out ok for you and excited to see the monitor results!
Please include a picture like that from wB so I can show it to Dell folks -
Good NEWS! It's working!
Just gimme a few sec to upload the pic... -
Hopefully the quality is sufficient to see the numbers...
