vantage has been ran and 3d marks has ran with a OC CPU

Well, in Windows 7 it shows a GTX 260m and a 9400m. Hybrids graphics works even with the "missing" driver for th "co-processor". I have no idea what it is, and I only have one GPU in my laptop, too.
-
Co-Processor might be the rest of your Nvidia Chipset. Try installing the drivers manually through device manager and point it to look in the folder where your Nvidia Drivers are saved.
-
I'm thinking the answer is you need to switch it to the 260/280 after a fresh install.
-
Wrong again.
-
OK I uninstalled what I had, downloaded the 280 driver from dell's website and boom 280s work w/SLI. Coprocessor? is still there but I now doubt it's video related. Running 3dmark06 now.
-
what are your issues, i looked back in the thread and did not ind yoour post that talked about it.
-
so Mandrake, you have the Dell Win7 drivers working? Can you post a link to the ones you used? Thanks man!
-
Drivers from Nvidia's website and the Dell resource DVD wasn't working.
-
Here
10 char -
Have you installed the chipset drivers from Dell's website?
nVidia MCP79 Chipset drivers -
thanks dude. Will get those when I get home. Does the 9400 work too with those drivers?
-
@Phinagle: Not from their website. I can try it after this run of 3dmark.
Edit:3dmark crashed again. -
yes.
10 char. -
could it be a master/slave gpu bios issue causing nvidia's official drivers to not work? Back when i ordered the w90vp-a1 (now cancelled) to use the newest driver from ATI they had to reflash the Slave GPU bios so that both cards were master for it to properly recognize the second gpu and activate crossfire in their case. Might be a similar problem here/
-
OK I installed it. I also returned my BIOS to factory default to make sure none of my changes were causing issues. I will run 3dmark again.
Edit: coprocessor still shows up in device manager. I'm going to need to install the original disk to see what it is. -
Is co-processor still unidentified in the device manager?
Also are you running these under Win 7 or Vista? -
Yes still unidentified and running Windows 7.
Edit: Now the whole system locked up running 3dmark. I'm starting to think Windows 7 is a bad idea for now. -
The drivers on Dell's site are only listed up to Vista 64-bit.
What version of drivers did you get from nVidia's site?
Edit: 186.03 are the latest mobile drivers. -
186.03. Time to try the newer one?
-
Try everything that's reasonably safe.
Addendum: ...until you get sick of it and want to just enjoy your machine.
-
From the problems you guys are going through. Wouldn't it just be better to stay with vista 64 bit and grab SP2?
-
If it's not stable then yes.
-
Wait so you can reinstall the drivers fine on Vista? I though Vandit was saying that he couldn't get the drivers back on Vista after he tried Win 7.
-
Its weird that the link for the drivers above were from Dell support. When I went to support, select notebook, then drivers ect it took me from dell to alienware site with software updates...
I know same company but didnt compare revision numbers when i was at home.. -
I like to tweak what I can before I start gaming.
The new drivers give the same error trying to install it. The error states could not locate any drivers that are compatible. -
One person said vista with SP2 is basicly the same as windows 7...True? false? Me dumb?
-
Vista worked fine for me. It's working in Win 7 now using the drivers on Dell's website.
edit: I'm now going to try to find out what "co-processor" is. -
if you are talking about what i said in the other thread, i was just making a statement that win 7 is what vista should have been, thus i was just calling it a sp release sarcasticly, i've also been know to call it vista 1.5 also
-
Depends on which M17x option you choose. Scroll down and find the option just listed as M17x without A51 or Area-51.
-
It really is Vista with a better user interface and some added features.
-
Yep, but "added features" equates to performance, too. Windows 7 has a much better data transfer backbone; SSD drives can perform up to 30% faster under ideal conditions in Windows 7 -vs- Vista. Similar for spindle HDs, but not quite as dramatic a leap.
Plus better memory, faster processing, etc.
It's still Vista, but it's what Vista should have been from the get-go. -
yes i know i use it on 3 computers at the moment which is the reason i call win 7 what i do because it is so similiar to vista just without most of the problems
-
so Mandrake- what is the word on Win7? Go or No? Did u get it stable? I am going home in a few hours. Need to know if I have to install Vista over Win7
-
Can you update to the latest nVidia drivers on Vista?
-
So for those of you that had problems with the volume up and down touch panel when receiving the m17x and now are on windows 7, are the problems still there?
I am just trying to confirm if it is hardware or software related. -
I haven't reinstalled Vista yet Phinagle. I might have to from what Mandrake is experiencing. I loaded Win7 last night but can't get the damn vid drivers working. I am going to reload VIsta64 if everyone can't find out the driver issue. I hate Vista now too after using Win7 on my desktop. Just the startup time is 4x as long also.
-
When running 3dmark06 the program either crashes or the system locks up. Doing nothing intense it's fine but what's the point of that.
-
Well when you go back to Vista from 7 check your device manager to figure out what co-processor is.
-
I'm on Windows 7 myself, no issues with the volume up/down buttons.
-
did u get the vid card drivers to work?????
-
Did you have problems with them before upgrading the operating system? -
I just installed the drivers off of the Dell DVD. No issues.
Nope. -
So when you had vista they worked fine out of the box?
Hrm... It just worries me.. I would like to see if it is indeed the software messing up and the panel is detecting my finger pushes or if the panel itself is bad..
Any way to test those two buttons? I dont know how to confirm if it is hardware or software related. -
well I see you only have one vid card. I think most of us that are having problems with vid drivers have sli
-
I have a curious question... why has noone used the modded INF file from LV2Go?
additionally, dox's drivers?
am I missing something? or are all of you missing something?
go here -> http://www.laptopvideo2go.com -
I haven't tried this one but every time we try something other than what Dell has it says cannot find a compatible card. I have a feeling this will be the same.
-
THAT ERROR is the EXACT reason LV2Go was created.
and DOX's are based on the same INF structure, but with optimizations. -
i tried the lv2go driver yesterday, and it screws up the screen. Funky colors everywhere. Did not work in Vista, either. I tried installing in Win7, same thing.
-
the file I d/ off of lV2go website was VistaWin7x64_185.85. No workie
