exactly quad. The manufacturer has stated they don't make dual bulb so we want to know W T heck
-
-
well that's disturbing news.. what about the 1440x900 panel wonder if that's even dual lamp.
-
definitely holding my order off for now
-
Well, I can see some bleeding at the top of the screen.. No where near the amount at the bottom. I can see it in game and when watching a movie. The image is really bright at the edges but towards the middle, it is very washed out.. I completely dissatisfied with the quality of the LCD.
If the intensity of the bleeding area was over the whole screen, it would be perfect, bright and crisp...
What would you all suggest? I have onsite complete care.. Should I call them and demand a replacement? I wish there was a good rgbled that I could put in there.
I would really like it replaced but fear that I may get one that is in worse shape then this one...
It really makes me mad that you pay good money for a rig and get a major component that is sub par....
Any suggestions on getting the screen replaced? Anyone that has done it before? -
Well first i'd post your lcd's hardware ID so we know what panel it is. Also this is straight from the comprehensive specs sheet pdf.

I will when i get home. I am at work right now and cant check..
-
Would being under a power saving mode turn off one of the bulbs?

The 1920x1200 screen is dual-lamp and has 400 nits brightness - that's a fact. I have reliable sources. I don't know if the same applies to the 1440x900 however. -
well can we get some panel model numbers.. and can your sources confirm if the 1440x900 is dual lamp and which model panel? Thanks
-
I have it on full power setting
-
sorry chaz but the fact remains samsung is denying they made any dual lamp screens and it saying it has a samsung screen
-
seriously why in the he** would they do something like that.. -
miss informed samsung guy on the phone? try another source! would be nice of the guy who said he has 'no problems' with bleeding on his screen to post pics of a black background screen
-
I have ultimate edition. The model just shows generic. I'm running some windows updates right now and I will see if it changes.
-
its always about the money......
we could all be wrong .... I am feeling like we could all be wrong and thats what i like to think but until some one provides screen shots ill believe otherwise -
So should i call them and have a replacement sent or wait a few days until this is sorted out?
-
Screen shots of what? No bleed?
-
I would like to see a shot of a black screen from someone that says theres is good, so I can compare.
I would like to see how off mine is. -
How bad is your screen?
-
I have bleed on the bottom. It's not major, if the bulb is there it's no surprise. Much better than the screen I had on my M1730. 100000000x better.
-
Its completely unacceptable.. ingame along the border and up 1/2 inch is super bright ..
After that, text on the screen in game is washed out (faded). The quality of maybe 1/2 a bulb there at most.
Easiest way to say is it is like there is the quality of two bulbs at the top and bottom but after 1/2 inch only one bulb is there and it is very hard to read text on the screen in game. (chat windows).
In the past seeing it on black screens never bothered me as long as you cant see in normal use.
Seeing it in game and in movies is messed up... -
Did you post a screen shot?
-
is it brighter though?
-
post a clear screen shot m8.. -
A screen shot or camera photo?
I dont think a screen shot would capture it as its the LCD that is messed up not the video card.... -
It is brighter at the bottom of the screen by a substantial amount and slightly brighter at the top edge...
The rest of the screen is much dimmer and washed out.. -
yeah, if you have a good camera. screen shot is useless.
-
Yea I love my cannon.. I will see what I can do tonight when i get home in a dark setting...
I just hope the glare isnt to bad.. Will have to turn off the fx lighting lol -
I'm trying to figure out the Windows 7 video issue and while doing that I noticed in the Nvidia control panel there is a screen brightness setting. Raising that above 50% definitely gives a washed out look. Check to see what yours is set at.
-
I most certainly would!
-
i was talking about screen shots that show the model number
-
Yeah, same here. Plus you have the issue of the "auto brightness" which changes the color accuracy/brightness depending on how much white is visible on the screen. That messes things up, too.
-
Wait or order a replacement? not clear on it lol
-
Is there a way to turn that off??? I was looking for it.
-
I can't find one. Frankly, I can deal with my level of light leakage, but I /can not/ as a graphic design deal with the "auto brightness". I don't even know what to call it, but it mute's the M17x's ability to work as a graphic design/development platform where having reasonable color accuracy is needed. Laptops already have less superior screens, but this is... sorta bad.
-
there has got to be way to turn the auto brightness off, unfortunately i cannot guess where, i will look for it once i get mine as i will want it off too.
-
a local freind is getting his today according to tracking and ill check to see if its dual lamps..chaz the sec5443 has never been a dual lamp model screen is my point that is a screen that has been used before. including in other dell's and even in gateways and they have not been dual lamp. i wonder if some are getting the wrong panels in these
-
I would say you should wait until we have more info.
-
Hrmm. I hope not. I'll have to go home tonight and check my panel information. I would definitely love to get what I paid for.
-
Same here... I would be really upset however atleast it would explain alot.
-
i wish we could get the actual model on the back of the panel then i can be 100% sure which it is. i have 2 sec5443 sitting here from dell 1730's brand new and they are both single ccfl
-
So you are going to take it apart to find out?
-
All I know is the screen on m9750 is much superior to the one on my M17x. You don't expect new models of laptops to be inferior in that department to a laptop released 2-3 years ago.
-
if he will let me yes. he normally will let me but it being brand new we will see.. im dying to find out whats going on with this. a dual lamp screen should not be brighter at the bottom than at the top though
-
Exactly!!!
I was expecting better when I ordered this..
Bleed usually never bothers me that much. Its to be expected.
Well within reason and this lcd is out of reason.
I have never noticed bleed in games/normal use .. only appeared on black screen..
Then the washed out view of text and other items just isnt good..
I wonder why they didnt do RGBLED.. -
Would it be possible to upgrade to rgbled yourself or is it best to leave it to the manufacturer?
-
anyone brave enough to pull the bezel off...lol?? than i can settle it once and for all
-
no. you can not swap a ccfl out for a led screen. whole different setup there
-
Oh I wish.. Even if I had to replace the whole lid assembly part of the rig.. I would...
-
also remember dell promised a 8ms response time on the 1730 and the panels used were no where near that. even the lg was 16ms..
