    1. It is expensive
    2. It use more power than its competitor 6970M
    3. Maybe there isn`t any room for it in the thermal envelope of R3?
    4. Maybe it requires different architecture inside the laptop and it is just not a easy switcharoo for Alienware if a customer wants it?
    5. Maybe because 3D with 460M does not give you the possibility to use IGP. Now consider 485M instead without any Optimus. How much heat do you think the 485M will create compared to 460M? Again, thermal envelope.

    I think you should consider yourself lucky if Nvidia actually give you a solution to this. A big kudos are then in order to Nvidia and its staff.
