That's exactly why I returned mine - luckily still within my 30 days. I snagged a $699 HP 17" laptop from Sams' club with their flexible 90 day return policy and IT SUPPORTS 64 bit vmware guests. Go figure. a $3,000+ alienware doesn't support it and I can run whatever I want on a laptop for under $700!

I'm waiting for the HP Envy 17". Don't have anything on order - just waiting for next week - May 19th to place my order.

That was informative. Please define "near future." Weeks, Months?

I also would like "near future" defined.....sounds like "it depends what the defination is, is.

We all saw how fast Dell/AW turned around the A02 BIOS because of the stutter issue, so a precident has been set. Whats the deal.

If this was all up to me, I could provide an exact date. Given that there are many factors and variables involved, I can't. With that being said, this month, hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks for the reply, and the update. I'm not trying to shoot the messenger.

I can only speak for myself, but I would personally like to hear squat, rather then to hear guesstimates. Those only make me cranky, especially when they're missed.

It is, however, reassuring to know that you are at least aware, and are working to rectify the problem.

    Cheers.

I have no problem with the approach of not releasing any information in advance - makes my life much easier as well... Was just trying to give an update that this was indeed in the works.

I'll post again here once the release has been uploaded to support.dell.com.

Looks like the planets have aligned. The new BIOS has been promoted and should show up online within the next couple hours. Let me know if you have any issues or problems.

Would any of you that's following this thread update it with a link to the BIOS or the thread that mentions it when it's available? I would hate to wait a minute more than necessary!

    Thanks guys.

For what it's worth: just installed A06 bios on myM17X-R2 without a hitch, but still no VT-D support. Hence, no XenClient :-(
VT-X is there, so vmware works very well indeed
I already replaced the Windows 7 Home, which was very unstable, but I find Windows 7 Professional is also erratic on the M17X.
I'm wondering how a windows client on top of vmware on Ubuntu server might pan out. would it allow for gaming at all?

    Cheers
