So, they didn't change anything? I can just pop it into my R2?
-
Not too sure you are trying to say there lol. Dell still has the 4870s up.
-
Wow...crossfire, unbelievable,
Moonpal, maybe a bios update? -
lol, quickly went to check too. I think it's not up yet, but maybe if you ask they'll put it in??
-

Its up on eurodell (Uk)
-
The 5870's are out on the European sites. I just checked UK and Germany. Hopefully it will be out in the US tomorrow morning. I hope it's not some kind of weird glitch
-
Lucky for people who were patient enough to wait!

Lol I feel so left out
-
Not up on the U.S. site yet, but can't be long right? -
your wait is finally over dr650se, hahaha
-
I know! FINALLY Can't wait to get the order in when it's up. Be interesting to find out what new set of problems these cards present now lol
-
+rep for the long wait,lol

This is good news! Lets see if I can change my order...
-
Man I really hope I can change my order here in AU
-
Congrats man, your time has finally come! Ready those SSDs, that i7, and some TIM!
-
YES!, and pull the 8GB from the M11x. Time to blow off the dust.
-
Oh snap. Im there.
-
im selling my R1.
-
Dell sales rep isn't calling me back grrrr
-
This would also Explain why my 4870 slave card was cheap from Dell. If Dell starts selling the Systems with Default 5870s i might have to return this and reorder
-
Wooohooo I can't believe it was actually a good decision to wait
and the cards came out a day after my birthday! Time to spend some money.
-
Well I'm very busy to cancel and reorder. Just contacted my Rep, and she is doing her very best. She is a really nice person!
+1 for the Dutch Reps! -
Yay Eyefinity!!...what?...no one else excited for that?...k...
-
Hmm Dell sales rep in Aus said she might not be able to cancel my order if its too far in the production line... hmmm and she doesn't know when the 5870s will be available in Australia surely it can't be that far away down under.
I said if she can sort it out for me I will make my order more pricey to get a better commission which I will definitely do but I seriously hope this works out. -
It doesn't matter if you can't cancel your order. Dell has a 21 day return policy (at least in the US they do) where you can return the laptop if you order another one to replace it. This is what I did when I first ordered with the core 2 quad and then decided to change to core i7.
Let the 4870 model arrive and call customer service and tell them you want to send it back in lieu of a replacement. Give them the order for your new laptop and they will send you shipping info to send it back. -
Ahh that sounds awesome as long as the 5870s come to the land down under soon although nobody seems to know.
-
Yah thats true, I think its strange that it first and only showed up on the Euro website. My guess is that they will prob show up in the US tomorrow and then Asia region the day after that.
-
Sweet! I can now handle waiting to get a laptop with the 5870s... in xfire oh the power.... -

While the card itself may have the means for eyefinity it doesnt mean the laptop will. -

I was going to cancel because I lost faith that it would be out this month. I will seek a production change now.
-
The HP Elitebook with the Firepro can do it, and the M17x certainly has enough ports without even going to a DVI-USB adapter. You're right, it's not guaranteed, but I'd say the odds are pretty good. Hope someone get's theirs soon and tries it out.
-
They won't be able to change your order once its in production. Dell's retarded system isn't flexible at all. If its early in the pre-production stage you may be able to cancel by giving them the new order number, if not you will have to receive it and then send it back
-
Is the HD5870 better for temps, does it operate at a lower temp than the 4870`s ?
-
No, they have shown to be hotter.
-
Hmmm, not good.
-
Didn't take me long to change my sig.
-
Did you cancel your original order?
-
Just get the complete care! So you won't have issues when it breaks... If it even breaks... If I see the temps on the M15x with one 5870 in it, I'm not worried.
We'll see when it arrives!
-
Wow have you orderd it allready? Or how did you do that? It's not out in the US yet?
-
I will change my original order later. New changes usually hit the Dell US site around 8am CST.
-
What temps do these new 5870`s run at ?
-
I kind of want to stay up and wait for them to show up lol.
-
That really depends on the system. While gaming most have hit mid-80c. Some of the Asus versions go into the mid-90c range. I expect the M17xR2 to be on the cooler side.
-

LOL...me too. Mandrake, you might be the first here to get the new setup. -
I would guess around 75 for the M17x. If that.
-

Lol. I woke around 3am edst. Saw the news and didn't go back to sleep. -
Well good news is I can cancel my order with Dell and the 5870 will be coming out in May-ish in Australia, am going to re-order as soon as I can! Will be waiting for my Dell rep to call and if she doesn't call me first I'm sure I will call her as soon as I see it on the site!
-
Knowing the way Australia is with technology, these won't be available 'til Christmas after next!
