Well, maybe it's time for me to update?
-
Ah man i really hope I can call and upgrade without having to cancel...
-
Hmm, this is very intriguing... wondering if I can get mine upgraded to a 5870 since it just arrived last Thursday.
5870's available is very good news indeed, though! -
Wow really? Homeroom ends at 7:45 which means I can't find out till 1030
-
SillyHoney go spend some SillyMoney lad
-
lol, I expect Striker to pop in sooner or later with a "first official owner" sig for the 5870s but that won't be true.

Now I need to figure out a way to get a pair of these. For some reason I don't think Dell will be too eager to sell them separately, I think they'd rather just sell them in new laptop's.
-
Don't worry, I'll get an extra pair and sell to someone in Canada for way over sticker price. It's the American way.
Edit: Nothing about it on Engadget. They're too busy depositing all their checks from Steve jobs. -
Oh dear I was secretly thankful of Dell for not releasing these cards as I knew it was saving me a fortune. Now that they are out, I want.
What's going to be the the best deal on these - EPP? -
Well, in the Netherlands they are actually cheaper than the HD4870 cf.
Some €50,- -
Very exciting stuff, can't wait to see some Crysis benches!
-
10% EPP, $50 dollar coupon for signing up for their spam and then possibly another 3% for using DPA although that last one you may have to call because it's not advertised.
-
Wow they already offer the hd 5870 crossfire option in Belgium aswell, normaly we run behind for weeks, if not months. A fully rigged m17x costs 3033€, not bad since they used to be like 3400€.
-
Thats it, I'm selling my M17. I should get a decent deal since I got the 4850's in them
-
Nice. I've found EPP discounts for CA & US but nothing for Australia anywhere.
A staff member in the employee benefits area of my organisation queried DELL for me and they were advised that EPP Discounts are not offered on Alienware as they are 'specialised' products.
I can afford it without, but the saving from an EPP discount would definitely be handy in going towards a SSD! -
LOL I should have known..
Damn I want these.. Anyone been able to see how much parts would sell these? I know they will us selling through parts department but I really want them... Curious to see how much they are... -
Oh, man...... :confused2:
-
Yes, I have changed my order...
I'm gonna get the HD5870 CF option! Wow I am sooo glad it's fixed.
Now I can Really change my sig... -
Yea once anyone can locate a part number for them for US please let me know.. I want to see how many bills this is going to cost me to upgrade.

no it's only the problem of getting the 38000 norwegian kroner (around 3500 euro) >_>
-
I really hope they will sell them separate. I really want two of these in my m17x
Edit. Just checked online and I can still only get 4870 and it says this. May delay my ship date -
ahhh poo! my replacement has just been shipped
-
How much did it cost you?
-
still not on US site =(
-
US $3343,25 in total.
The switch 4870>5870 didn't cost me nothing but then again the money was still on it's way.
-
Wow really? Not a single cent for the GPU upgrade? I'm geeking out so bad. I want it to update so I can call and upgrade, or cancel if I have to before they're already backordered
-
When the 4870s were released everyone sat in pre-production for two weeks, it took a while to get them out to people.
-
I'd gladly wait that long for a system I plan to use for years to come
-
I placed my order 1 week ago ,I'm calling to cancel it ,or upgrade .
You think they'll do it on a 1 week order ?? -
^
I would think so. That's still close to a month away from delivery. I'm trying on a two week order later today. -
my replacement order was placed on the 13th of april and shipped today! less than 10 days!
now i wanna know how much the upgrade will cost
-
I still dont see it offered on the US site
-
I have yet to see it on ANY site. lol
Looks like Dell is having some technical difficulties

-
Sleey0, did you check out the Dell UK site? It was up on there. At least it was earlier. I checked to see what the price diff was.

Nice!
When did you order, and what was your EDD? I'm trying to get mine changed, but no luck so far... -
Go for it. She's-oh wait wrong forum.
I would ask why you wouldn't. Things seem to setting up just right for you
It's definitely up somewhere

Edit: Okay...on the UK site the 720qm is 39.99 euros and teh 620m is 160 euros. Maybe they are having technical difficulties? -

Credit != money coming into my bank account
lol
And I have a girlfriend who would strongly disapprove of switching laptops AGAIN (3 in the last year - she thinks I am thoroughly irresponsible with money and computers lol) -
I know the feeling
mines spent on my car tho

Added the UK site on the OP.

I will heavily consider one of these come July. That is when I should have an income and a regular job - until then I am moving around too much anyway (going to WY for a month after graduating)
So I can wait and see how they do first
-
all the European sites have the 5870 option.... guess its not available yet to the rest of the world.
-
Hmmm order now at £1920 or wait and order from US for probably around £1450. Decisions decisions!
-
Just canceled my 1 week order with the 4870's,and will wait till it shows up in the US . My sales rep will call me in the morning when it enters in their system to place it .I hope it refreshes in the US tomorrow.Thank god i got it canceled in time ..
BTW,order early guys, because everyone is gonna jump on it like flies on doodoo
-
That's good! Can't wait for the first reports/benchmarks/troubleshooting by the Notebook review elite before pledging my allegiance to Alienware and the M17xR2. Given that the 5870 is a tiny bit less power hungry than the 4870 (I might be wrong) I don't anticipate any new issues to show up (compared to the crossfire 4870 configuration) but at the same time I don't want to be Alienware's quality control
-
Thats the normal price difference between 720 & 620 in UK
-
I'm with you m8 going to wait like a month and a half or so, don't want a laptop with problems...
-
I changed my order who was in production already also to the 5870 free of charge, strange they both cost the same..
M17x-R2 - out with HD5870
