M17x-R2 - out with HD5870

It won't be that long, mine'll be here Friday or Monday (unless the CF becomes available today and I call and get the order changed).

Even though it probably won't be out today, the chance is greater in the afternoon or night...not in the morning.

 

i thought it was 6 AM at least the texas guys told me that the promotions change on tursday mornings at 6 am

i dont think the 5870s will be out anytime before summer basically. if AW didnt release it so far, there must be some kind of real problem besides just "marketing"

A bit of a bugger, I'm looking at buying another gaming laptop.

 

There's no set time Dell updates their site. The 5850 showed up randomly during the middle of the day yesterday. It may still come today and if not, then soon enough unless Dell completely changed their mind. I haven't heard anything back from the person I talked to about it.

 

It's funny to see people making up release dates and people believing them, lmao.

yup.. I've always said I've had mine on order, if CF pops up before may 16th I'll change, otherwise I still have the return warranty period. I'm not worried.

the 6th was only ever mentioned because in the Netherlands, the 5th is a national holiday and the dell offices are closed.

 

Come what may it either gets released or not. I'm in no overwhelming rush.

Anyway, sales reps wont give you info even if they knew.They wont risk their jobs. The waiting time for a new M17x r2 is cut in half due to cancellations,
and customers holding out for the new cards,there's no mystery here..

I don't think anyone is blaming you or calling you out for being wrong. As far as I'm concerned your guess was as good as any, maybe a bit better.

 

I wouldn't just throw a guess out there. The 5/5 date was a planned launch date. I did say before several times that it might get pushed back due to supply problems of xfire 5870s. Looks like that's the case right now. The next date isn't too far off but I'll keep that part to myself right now since it seems to be a moving target.

 

Can we have a hint?
If it's not until June, I'm ordering now.

I just saw there is the option of choosing an alienGui theme manager instead of the other customizations. I didn't see it yesterday, but maybe I just missed it.

 

Looks like that's new ^^

 

Also, when I go through the config, I keep getting a config error on the review screen because of the AlienGuise theme manager. Regardless of whether I choose it or not. Anybody else see that problem?

 

I get it with AlienGuise seems fine without it. Hopefully dell is working on their site

I Downloaded the AlienGuise last night, I was not very impressed, I don't think it's been tweaked for Windows 7, it seems like another junkware screensaver type program, any other thoughts?

AlienGuise was actually out for a while at least a few years they just never had it as one of the options in the systems. Yah don't look like they updated it for win 7, lol not sure why their offering it as an option.

 

I don't think this is the same AlienGUIse that was released a while ago.

Alienware: AlienGUIse Theme Manager

The description on the Customize OS where you pick the theme says "Breed Theme." This was not one of the original themes in the AlienGUIse released years ago.

Maybe they updated it, but I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago for my XP virtual machine and the "Breed Theme" wasn't part of it.
