asked the trusted guy if he has any part numbers for CF 5870. waiting for reply.

it includes the heatsink as the gpus come with heatsinks, but i guess doesnt include the fan. i dont think the fan costs so much though.

by the way hows your replacement order goes? is it in production or not yet?

Not too bad, tried to get 256MB Ati X1800 for my old XPS M2010, Dell asked 400 euro for it. Insane.

yeah, cause the core i5 is weak ;)

I'm just going to purchase everything through Dell rather than upgrade piecemeal later on. That way, the warranty for everything is all the same, and it's less headache.

Actualy you save about 500 bucks if you order the cpu from ebay because the mark up on alienware is crazy. But if you've got the cash then go for it. I actualy thought about just ordering the 4870's cf just in case but I've got a feeling the 5860cf will be soon. I probably should have waited but I can't! lol

you got the point. thats why i ordered with 4870 CF. it was free for my replacement anyway even i got 5870 single or 4870 CF. so i got the most expensive configuration (it may be proved good strategy later). as for cpu i will have the 920xm.

buying the gpus from Dell you pay the heatsinks too + crossfire cable. if you gain something from 4870 CF is the second gpu fan, the heatsinks and the crossfire cable. So buy just two pure 5870 (with crossfire connector when available) from ebay and you are done. There is no worry via ebay. If something goes wrong you request a money back via paypal and contact the seller. Just prefer a respectable seller.

I got it mid November. I have not tried to resolve this through Dell yet. Kept hoping they'd come up with a solution for the problem but that's obviously not happening at this point.

I can't believe in 2010 there are still people afraid of ebay. As long as you pay with paypal, you have zero to worry about.

Any way. Awesome to see so many new laptops coming everyones way on here.

Honestly, this is why I'm afraid to *sell* on Ebay. Even though I know what I sell is acceptable and as described, Paypal always sides with the buyer. My friend got screwed out of his money when Paypal yanked the payment from him and he never got his merchandise back from the buyer.

Well, I've had mainly good experiences with Ebay but I did sell a bright new ipod that I had gotten as a gift and I had one. I did not even open it. It was new in box and I got screwed bad.

I sent it fedex with tracking number but the customer stated the box came empty and he won. I did my best to explain it was not possible, blah, blah, blah, Paypal sided with the buyer.

Out of my 6 years experience with Ebay it was the only bad experience ever. I don't use it though since that incident.

Oh yeah, I agree that it is far scarier as a seller then a buyer these days. I find it odd that you would lose a fight about an empty box though. At least with UPS, you see the weight which you would think would be proof it wasn't empty.

I shared in another thread I believe (maybe it was thise one actually). But, a week and a half ago I had bought an M17 off ebay and paid immediately. The next day ebay flagged the member for thinking he was a fraud (never got the full story, they just tell you they thought there was something off). Paypal immediately gave me my money back. I never had to do a thing. I've been an ebay user since like day one and this was the first bad experience I had. Both ebay and paypal had the situation taken care of within hours and I had to do nothing other then be sad I wasn't getting that awesome computer.

Try asking for part number for R3 with water cooling and factory OC desktop 980X with Quad Nvidia Fermi 480GTX.

Guys, seriously, no one knows. There is no indication so far of a true release date. Let's just wait...

Boxing only? Man your order is slacking, mines being delivered tommorow by Michael Dell himself :D

But seriosuly, can you imagine how powerful a laptop with that could be? Besides the copious amounts of heat, energy, dark matter and child labor it would take to run that?

well i wait for my order now more than anything else. then the new bios (hopefully this week) and finally the release date of CF 5870s.

well this could be a good reason why they always have lack of parts and the orders are almost always so slow

So far, the rumored dates for the CF release were 5/5 and 5/7. Obviously, those came and went. Are there any other dates coming up (I heard something about 5/13) or is it, at this point, the case of " if it ever happens, it will happen when it happens" ;)
