No worries matey - you can use the Desktop package to get the WDM file or the Dell 8.763 package - both contain the WDM file so just download either, run, cancel installation and navigate to the WDM file. You can drag it to desktop or copy it.
Then its just a matter of inserting it or dragging it to the correct location on the new AMD drivers you are installing.
Run that package and install and it will install the HDMI driver too.
(god knows why AMD do not package the HDMI driver in the moility driver set.) -

+1, Steve.
For the HDMI audio drivers contained in Desktop package, is it okay to install in our laptops? Does that mean that not only the drivers are suited to desktop video card, but also they can function in laptop video card without no problem?
I am less inclined to use the HDMI audio driver from Dell 8.763 package, because they are way too outdated. -

Thanks for the reassurance. When I was new in this forum, many users warned me not to use the desktop version of video card driver in my M15x. That is why I want to be sure first before using the HDMI audio driver.
Since you confirmed that it is safe to be used, I will follow your advice.
I guess that we should not talk more about outdated Dell drivers, just not to be off topic. Believe me, you and I can have a lengthy talk about it. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Personally, I wouldn't use the desktop VIDEO drivers, just the HDMI from the desktop package.
Thanks for the rep, btw. -
I always use the WDM folder from the desktop driver package. Simply drag and drop the WDM folder from the desktop package into the same folder in the files extracted from the notebook driver package. When you have done that and go to install the notebook drivers, the Catalyst Install Manager sees the WDM folder and drivers and install them. It works perfectly every time for me.
The desktop driver package might work OK on a notebook, but that clearly was not intended and could cause system stability issues. I have done that in the past on other systems and the result were mixed. Sometimes things work fine, sometimes not. The notebook drivers may include added functionality that is needed in a notebook (such as power management), but not in a desktop.
Steviejones - after spreading some rep around, I was able to sock it to you again this afternoon. Have a good weekend. -

I tried to rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis 2\bin32\Crysis2.exe to fear.exe. But the game won't open. Says the game is currently unavailable.
Guess I have to wait until 11.4 release. -

Hi alex, maybe you can help me out?
I installed 11.3 and just noticed something weird with the clocks...

What's wrong with Crysis 2 and 6970? I am planning to buy this game sooner as soon as my r3 will be replaced.

Just been messing about this morning and came across something which may be of use to people uninstalling and installing newer AMD drivers.
Im aware that many people, after cleaning etc, reboot and then find that windows automatically updates the driver software - meaning it can be a bit of a pain to get back to standard vga drivers BEFORE we clean install the new driver set from AMD.
Drivers - Turn Off Automatic Driver Installation - Windows 7 Forums
I think this will stop windows automatically doing this for you - basically, you dont want windows searching and updating your gpu drivers because we can do this ourselves quite easily.
If anyone has problems with windows auto-installing drivers after uninstalling the old set, I woulg give this a go. Hopefully, it would stop your system trying to update when you dont want it to. -
Can anyone explain to me how to get these drivers on my R3? I did the CCC individual update, but my card is "not supported". Anyone running 11.4 on an R3 yet?
-
Your card is supported, but the driver package thinks it is not because of the OEM driver and hardware ID.
The problem is not really compatibility, but a limitation caused by the device name in Windows Device Manager. This "problem" is caused any time an OEM uses a modded reference driver and/or firmware that creates a unique hardware ID, which is very common with all OEMs, especially when it involves video drivers. The OEM driver creates a device name that the reference driver does not recognize because it is not in the list of applicable hardware. All Windows driver packages include an INF file that lists device names and if the name of your video card (as it appears in Device Manager) is not listed, the driver will not install through a normal routine. The INF file would need to be modded to convince Windows that the driver really does apply to your hardware. (See attached thumbnail.)
First, you'll want to be certain that you are downloading the correct driver package for your hardware and not the driver package for a different video card. You will find the driver files in the folder "\11-3_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl\Packages" at the location you extracted the files.
Without a modded INF, what may work is manually updating the driver using Device Manager. Override the system to tell Windows you want to select the driver yourself, choose to show all hardware (rather than compatible hardware) and browse to the folder where you extracted the new drivers. Once the new drivers are installed, the name of your device will change in Device Manager and then you should be able to run the Catalyst Install Manager to install the rest of the package. (See attached PDF for series of screen shots.)
This manual install routine may not work in all cases. You may get an error message to the effect that "no information about your hardware" exists, in which case you will have no option but to modify the INF file by adding a reference to the video card name and vendor ID information that you find in Device Manager. I have never attempted this before. If you find yourself in this situation, you may be able to change the following line in the INF file to match what your system shows in Device Manager:
"AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series" = ati2mtag_Vancouver, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6720If the hardware ID matches, try changing only what appears between parenthesis (which I have underlined). If the hardware ID does not match (blue highlighted text), you will have to modify that information as well. Again, I have not attempted this before. This is merely a last resort suggestion. It will not cause any harm if it works successfully.Attached Files:

Good luck mate, you wont need it, I think you will be suprised how easy it is really....just a bit daunting (or can be) but its nothing to worry about, honestly. -
First page updated with latest 11.3 CAP2 and release notes. i've also included a direct amd download link despite not officially released by amd. hope it wont get blacklisted. no Crysis2 retail app profile yet, will be made available in CAP3, so stay tuned. temporary solution to get it working, refer to the guide in first page. enjoy.

here is cap1 from amd's site as well

Hello every one. I need help from experts like you on my several problems.
Prob 1
I am using latest CAP2 profile with 11.3 AMD drivers.
I get lot of flickering in Bulletstorm, Unreal Tournament 3 and other unreal engine 3 games with crossfire enabled. Crysis 2 also has some of it but not that prominent like Bulletstorm. Enabled vsync and played around with settings but nothing helped. Never had the issue with reference Dell/AMD display drivers for this particular game. Did some research on google and people say that 10.12 drivers eliminate the problem. But then whats the point for AMD to release new drivers when they cause flickering in games which never had before. Some games don't flicker like they used to when i had old reference drivers but the ones which had very little flickering are now literally blinding me. This flickering issue has been there since the day my laptop came in my hand. Please help me fix this once and for all
Prob 2
How do i make use of the application profiles? What should i do to then after installing? I am new to CAP so dont know how to make it work.
Prob 3
NFS HOT PURSUIT looks sad with no AA. I tried to enable it by forcing AA from CCC and i cant see any difference in quality. How do u make it work?
Prob 4
Now there is another blunder i made which you will see below. I installed CAP2 in the default directory Crogram FIles (x86), ATI technologies, Application Profiles.
I did the following:
Now, there are 4 icons inside Application Profile folder after installing CAP2
1) appprofiles.reg (typical registry icon which looks like 4 smal blue cubes)
2) atipfxx.blb
3)atiapfxx (red ATI icon)
4) Version.dll
For some reason i thought my installation of CAP wasnt complete so i double clicked the appprofiles.reg file and was prompted the following message to which i said YES. Please tell me if what i did has screwed up my files or do i need to uninstall and clean then install drivers again. Is there any way i can undo the registry change which i have already made? Please help
This was the message:
Adding information can unintentionally change or delete values and cause components to stop working correctly. If you do not trust the source of this information in Crogram Files(x86)ATI Technologies\Application Profiles\appprofiles.reg, do not add it to the registry
Are you sure you want to Coninue? I clicked YES
I just want my games to run well and look good at then end of a hectic day. I am exhausted:cry: -

Best thing about this driver release is that FFXI works in crossfire mode without any changes
Just install and I'm up and playing
-
@moddy, i have noticed in some games, especially if they are released for a while now, if the game gets any new patches or updates, crossfire support will somehow be affected too. so it's entirely up to amd to make sure that older titles' profiles are updated in order to use crossfire. the most recent incidents involves starcraft2 and crysis2. when starcraft2 was released a while ago, crossfire support came after 1-2weeks. but recently i tried playing the game with latest patch installed, crossfire support is no longer there! and i noticed, there is an extreme setting made available in recent patch. crysis2 crossfire support was supposed to be available from day 1 release, but crytek released an update to v1.1 with changes to graphics settings causing crossfire support to be totally useless. i believe the only thing we could do is to report games support to amd and hope they sort it out with the next driver/CAP release. if you dont mind doing some modification, u could use radeonpro to force certain crossfire profile support for games like how i'm doing now with crysis2. i use FEAR crossfire profile to run crysis2, though the scaling is quite poor, at least there's no flickering and there's definately a performance boost compared to single card configuration. i reckon about less than 10fps extra on CF.

Maybe Alex could enlighten us regarding this - I dont think it will have "screwed" anything up but a system restore to a point BEFORE you installed CAP should (I think) rectify and unwated changes to you system/registry.
Anyone else's view point would be good on this and wether there is a consequence to having done it and, if so, best way to resolve. -
Will this fix the issue that the M17xR2 not shutting off completely when turned off after long periods of use?
-
Should i uninstall CAP and manually remove keys from regedit. But that again is a risky thing to do. Never did a system restore before. Does the restore also delete any other files that were put on the hardrive during that period? Any suggestions will be great.
Also please tell me how can i get NFS hot pursuit to use AA. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
A few helpful articles here for you regarding system restore: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-types-of-files-does-System-Restore-change and http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/System-Restore-frequently-asked-questions
Its likely your system has a relatively recent restore point so if you do decide to restore to before you installed CAP, unless you have done lots of other installing since, chances are you wont have to do much in the way of getting back to where you are now without CAP & those reg. changes you made. Once system restore is open, you can check for more restore points by making sure the checkbox in the system restore window is filled ("show more restore points")
As for NFS, dont have that one either sorry! lol -
I installed the driver like the instructions on page 1 said. When I rebooted it is still showing the VGA drivers in the device manager even though the 11.3 install was successful. I had the dell drivers before. What am I doing wrong?
-
1. express uninstall all ati/amd driver using add/remove in control panel. restart
2. run driversweeper, tick amd, analyse, clean then restart.
3. install 11.3 catalyst mobility. restart
4. install latest CAP.
that's it. see if it works. -

try to goto to individual downloads and download it directly. Could be Dell changed the devid and is not accepted yet by reference amd drivers yet.
You can try the workaround to install it as well
goto where I show in my screenshot after you download and attempt to install it there will be a folder created that is the folder, open installmanager.cfg with notepad
change the last line from false to true and see if it will pick it up. Might not though

I, too, dont think R3 owners can utilise reference drivers atm without a workaround process.....afaik.
-
im afraid dell's 6970M is not officially supported by amd. only 4870M and 5870M are supported at the moment (limited to driver support of course)
-
Can any one please give me links to official 10.12 AMD CCC for mobility windows 7 64bit with the latest CAP for that driver. There is at the moment no way through which i can make unreal engine games work without the nasty flickering. Have to go back to old drivers.
AMD hear us out plz. Its damn annoying. Plz provide fix for new games and dont mess old ones which never had any issues. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hope you get back on track, but there is no reason why the latest drivers and CAP shouldnt work for you....maybe give it another bash and see how you fair. -

-
I have flickering in almost every game with 11.3 and 11.2 unless I turn off crossfire then the flickering goes away.
-
I have found that enabling anti-aliasing (2x or higher) allows me to run crossfire without any flickering in Unreal games, and especially Crysis. Crysis flickers horribly with crossfire enabled without anti-aliasing, but not at all when I set it at 2x.
-
Kqmaveric, custom gama settings u mean from ccc settings or in game?
Mr Fox, I have set AA settings from ccc to "application controlled". Have you force enabled it?
Phifer, did u try using 10.12 drivers?
