Yep, but left long enough...im pretty sure you will BSOD sooner or later.....lets hope you dont.

I have been using the 11.1a's for weeks now and no bluescreens at all (got them before they were official
I used to get bluescreens every couple of days with the 10.12's
I have not tested the closing lid/sleep issue but normal sleep does not give me issues (ie.. if I hit the alienhead or just leave the system alone to go to sleep)
Just my experience.

steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yep, you should be fine using either the alienhead or start/sleep but if you try the lid, you WILL get problems....give it a go.... -
If your leaving your computer for a few hours, why not just shut it down instead of putting it to sleep. A full restart once and a while is always nice to free up the ram
-
Anyone noticing higher temps?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yeah, I agree. I could easily do that instead, but that really isnt the point.
The whole point is that these drivers mess up something that works beforehand, and results in random BSOD's afterwards.....I would just like to see a fix for it.
-
exactly, that isnt really the point. yes, shut down is good for leaving the pc for a long time, but how about short time? closing lid is the most intuitive way of going into sleep mode, we have been doing since the early days of laptops. not to mention just how expensive these laptops are and they dont work as intended? im not sure about u, but i for one is not ok with BSOD or loosing brightness control after waking from sleep on a $4000 machine.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Couldnt agree more if i tried. The simplest of things should be simple to do. I expect that from a system that costs several thousands of pounds/dollars/yen/buttons etc....I would happily accept some minor issues on a cheap system but NOT for a high end laptop.
Something so small, yet its quite annoying that I can't actually just close the lid, move the system from room to room, and have it come back to life with full functionality. -
Doctor Magneto Notebook Consultant
These minor issues are disappointing. And as I see, every of these "high end" and far not cheap machines is built different. Someone has that issue, another one has something other.. I for example, do have to use external microphone due to poor quality of the built-in one. But this is off topic here.
Despite of that I enjoy my system, and hope that will not get any "big" issues in future -
speaking of shutdown vs sleep. Is shutdown everyday bad? I would think that would stress the system more than needed?

I have the newest 11.1 drivers and the new CCC. I downloaded the CAPs (never used). They are installed but where do I access them? I don't see them in the CCC. Are they automatically applied in-game?
-
Hi there,
Yeah once you install them they are automatically applied.
Cheers.

Actually i notice i slight improvement in temps. -
anyone done some good benching vs the dell drives from 9/20/10? Seems to be about the same in the games that I play CSS, MW2, Crysis, L4D2

,
these are the first drivers that i've been able to install on my m17xR2 without having to do drivercleans,, and device manager driver removals...and they work very well so far! better performance for me! I'm just overjoyed at the fact these are my first upgrade that i've actually stuck to since the cat 10.4's
On my lappy, the 10.4's had far better performance than any of the drivers that followed, up until these ones.
I'm finally happy that i can just run the installer, let it do its thing, and it all just worked!
Sorry, I just had to tell people, you just cannot understand how much of a around unstalling gfx drivers has been in the past.
and overclocking works!!
-
Had these for a little while and they seem good. BC2 maps still take forever to load, but I get great frames once the map is loaded.
-
TotalHarmonicControl Notebook Enthusiast
ahh i havent tried bc2 yet!! brb!!!
-
I agree, I stayed on the 10.11 until the 11.1a came out.
The 11.1a version is working great so I will stick with these... but if I had to chose a different version it would be the 10.11
D. -
hey guys just a quick one, wat is the latest drivers which are best suited for bfbc2 and wow, just to make ur life easyer.
yes i have done the vbios
yes i done the dell driver thing
systems runs good but hasnt had a driver update since doin the whole vbios thingy -
TotalHarmonicControl Notebook Enthusiast
bah,
well it seems i jumped the gun. I have no idea why it does this, but maybe someone can help me.
i ran gpuz to check the catalyst version, and it shows 10.4 still, even though its meant to be 10.11.
So I went through the normal rigmorale, of uninstalling ATI, then running driver sweeper, etc. I even removed the drivers via device manager. all the usual stuff...and it still doesnt work!
Windows 7 went and updated the drivers to catalyst 9.7, I then ran cat 10.11 installer, and all appeared to go ok, it said "installing display driver" upon reboot its still showing as cat 9.7
If i remove the drivers via device manager, the ATI installer wont install display drivers, and only installs catalyst install manager, and stream 2 sdk
/smashes his head against the wall
this stuff drives me absolutely bonkers...why is it such a damned mess around to just install some stupid display drivers?! -
Try workaround
Go to to the installation directory where you extracted your files and then into the subdirectory called "Config." Here you find the file "InstallManager.cfg." Open this file with a suitable text editor, such as Notepad. And change workaroundinstall to true.
save the file and try installing Catalyst Software via Setup.exe again.Attached Files:

I am liking the 11.1a hotfix drivers myself.
Have good performance in wow and no bluescreens or anything.
I have had these installed for almost a month now and no issues at all.
D. -
So the new ATI driver is like the new Nvidia driver? Just run it, no uninstalling the old driver? That would be nice. I have been doing that with my Nvidia systems with no issues. I can finally have my wife update her video driver

Its still plagued with the "sleep via closing lid" issue.... -
iPhantomhives Click the image to change your avatar.
I'm having same problem too , while back I was using x2 HDDs 1TB.
I just got my new ssd c300 crucial , it loads like only 10-20sec. -
I think it was 10.7 was pretty fast loads but I would get crashes and other wierd stuff.
Forgot to say also in 11.1a I get the bad flickering and sometimes screen stays black unless I wiggle the mouse in bc2.
Thats the only game I can reference now since I just installed hybrid ssd 500gb. I havent loaded others yet. -
After running these drivers for a while, my biggest issue is in L4D2.
With earlier drivers the game used to run silky smooth. Now with 11.1 and the 11.1 CAP1 profiles the game is feeling jittery, like it's only running on a single GPU.
This is the only game I'm seeing issues in. BFBC2 and Metro 2033 are running better than ever.
I need to investigate further, cos I'm sure it must be something stupid happening on my PC. -
iPhantomhives Click the image to change your avatar.
I have same problem too in 11.1 , the screen stays black for like few sec , sometime might crush , just auto shut-off or hang there (shows no respond on task manager) -
Good to know as I never put my system to sleep this way
(I hit the powerbutton to make it go to sleep .... THEN close the lid)

steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I bet you still loose the ability to dim down your screen after a few goes of your method (using Fn&F5).
Try it, I almost guarantee you that maybe not right off, but after a few resumes, you wont be able to dim. Give it a shot...it wont bust anything....its just annoying as heck!
-
i think i screwed the pooch on this one...I unistall the the driver using control panel. it started to uninstall then bam! blue screen emergency dump file, crash ect. ect. now i can't boot up i keep getting the blue screen
-
CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
Dang! for the first time it did it to me too! i tried to put it in sleep as usual (fn+F1) like 6 time, the last time it screwed up my fn+F5 brightness controll. Rebooted and averything is back to normal. Yes it is not a big issue but definetly annoying.
11.1a hotfix + caps (from 10.12 caps) -
Hmm, these really didn't work for me.
Applying the 11.1 and 11.1a mobility drivers upgraded my CCC but not the actual drivers. "Hmm", thinks I, "these were supposed to directly work, but perhaps I need a modded version to install onto my m17xR2".
I go find a modded version and sure enough, my drivers then get updated to 11.1a.
... it is dreadful. CCC frequently freezes, regular black screens followed by Win7 telling me my display driver stopped working and had to be restarted. Profiles in CCC don't work anymore, even when I delete and recreate them. Profile hotkeys do nothing. Bezel compensation once switched on can't be switched off again.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and Crossfire couldn't be enabled.
Kinda envious of it working for you all.
I'm back to Dell stock drivers - which have never given me a problem.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Kinda foregone conclusion really, Im sorry to say. The thing is, sure, you lose the brightness functionality BUT, if you leave your system in that "state" after (for a long enough period) you WILL get a BSOD or come back to find your system has restarted itself after a BSOD)
Its not so much the brightness issue that bothers me, its that if I resume after (without a reboot first) then I cant be 100% sure that I can leave the system alone without the worry of coming back to a critical stop/BSOD/restart.
Dell need to sort this out, with AMD if need be, one way or the other! -
coming from 10.11 (imo best drivers).
I've applied 11.1 then updated with guru3d's 11.1a hotfix + 10.11 caps1,2,3,4 + 10.12 caps2.
working like a charm. no issues at all, been using since they were availiable...these new drivers possibly beats 10.11. -
Has this download been pulled? When I try to find it on the AMD website all I find is the 10.11 drivers.
-
I was having the same issue, but now that I am home and not in a hotel, all the links take me to 11.1. It was driving me nuts (as you can read early on in this post) and it turned out to be some issue with the hotels IP not allowing me to get to the updated web page.

Have a look here mate: ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver
Took me straight to 'em....hope it works for you.
-
If this happens, boot into Safe Mode and bring up the Device Manager. Inside there you should be able to find your graphics card(s). Remove/uninstall them one at a time, only checking the "remove drivers" checkbox on the last card. Reboot into normal Windows, then uninstall the drivers from the Control Panel again.
The bit you do in Safe Mode causes Windows to use its own drivers, rather than the ATI/AMD ones. As you're no longer using the drivers that the uninstaller is trying to remove, you should no longer get the BSOD. -
Do we need to install the 11.1a hotfix to this? Just wondering because so far everything is running well for me.
-
When you check your video cards in device manager, what does the driver version # show up as for 11.1?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Driver version on mine shows as 8.812.0.0
Display Adaptor listed as 5800 series -
Thanks stevie. My OS got corrupted the other day and I had to reinstall and first thing I was doing when thinking about updating the drivers was check the forum, saw this thread, brain went OOO SHINY NEW DRIVER.
Also just to say, I have never had the flickering problems with BC2V.
New AMD 11.1 mobility Drivers Finally available!
