For Win 7 (only) accurate results go to options>Kernel Timer latency>checked.

Well... before I got there the cursor paused a couple of times then it stopped responding all together - hard boot . At least my games seem Ok ATM so I'll not roll back unless it becomes more of a problem.

Highest DPC routine execution time (µs): 551.214074
Driver with highest DPC routine execution time: nvlddmkm.sys - NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 314.22 , NVIDIA Corporation

Version 320.18, 882.xxxxxx (µs) pretty high.

    Better roll back to 314.22

Thanks, I'll do that tomorrow. I have to uninstall gforce experience as well first or the roll back goes badly :(

Such a shame for 'experience'. This is the first driver to include a release version and I've been impressed with the way it can change in-game settings and gives people screenshot examples of the settings from specific games - very slick, and then this *rap happens.

I was having good results on my Samsung gamer 7 (675M, win 8 pro) compared to 320.00 and 320.14. Then last night I had a game freeze video, I could still hear the sound. First crash in about a week. It was happening within hours before. I tried to alt-tab out couldn't get the desktop. I could still get the Windows 8 side panel open and taskbar. So I tried bringing up task manager to kill the game but the desktop wouldn't display it. I could preview it by hovering in the task bar but it would disappear when I tried to task switch to it.

This was grim dawn alpha so I'm not sure whether to blame the alpha game or these drivers. If it happens again in a different context I'll rollback again.

What! they made 320.18 a WHQL?
Is it like they HAVE to make every 2nd beta release a WHQL?

    still doesnt solve any problems
    still getting blank screen

To make it perfectly clear I tested out next beta release Nvidia drivers version 320.20 (Nvidia downloads not available yet - cuda downloads only) LaptopVideo2Go: Drivers Blank screen bug while installing drivers still NOT fixed.(3D Vision + GTX 680M).

    GEFORCE DRIVER 320.20 - News - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

It seems 3D Vision Gaming marketed notebooks are not a priority, we must change that ! Keep posting here https://forums.geforce.com/default/...-driver-feedback-thread-released-5-23-13-/44/ four drivers were released since v. 314.22WHQL and still no go. (v. 320.00 / 320.14 / 320.18WHQL / 320.20) Unite ! :D (absurd )

Well.. I gave it a try out this morning just for S&G ;). Tried out BS Infinite, Tomb Raider, BM Arkham City, and Metro LL. All work fine but I never had any in-game issues before on .18. In-game benchmarks for all these were exactly (within 1-2fps) the same. The only thing I noticed was that I used to have a sound breakup (DPC?) during the loading of BMAC that has gone.

Results from latencymon seem worse and the voltage boost at game startup is still there :(. I turned on HW acceleration in FF and so far no lockup but that is random so we will see...

Update: The lockup just happened so no change there either :(

Cuda 5.5 release candidate installer drivers https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads even developers aren't getting proper drivers :D, better roll back.

Voltage spikes will never be fixed (Kepler GPU boost /2.0), it looks like Nvidia is having a hard time developing Geforce drivers which includes different architectures without causing side effects.

There's no need to disable MSE, you can exclude LatencyMon from real time scanner / Heuristic, C:\Program Files\LatencyMon folder and Processes LatMon.exe now you can monitor MSE (pretty High) one of the reasons I'M using Comodo CIS 6.1 free version, best firewall (real time scan on / heuristics off / behavioral blocker off / HIPS off/ enable cloud lookup on ) and Malwarebytes free on-demand scan only.

I know what I said (882.xxxxxx (µs) pretty high) but 1121.xxxxxx µs doubles 314.22 even 882. is not acceptable not pretty . Higher CPU usage ?

Same environment as far as I could, just ticking over (with MSE off!). It was a brief spike around 1 min in but I'm not hearing any issues, if anything the weird thing is that the brief sound glitch I had in BMAC has gone

Just run it again and the number was 609 so maybe something else was going on....

Yeah, you could go ahead and report GTX 580M/676M 3xx drivers (April 2012) OV or NVAPI returning incorrect values, OC stability w/ 2xx.

Well this driver finally bit me. Playing Portal 2 (low stress) and the whole machine locked up with the speakers buzzing. No OC, all at stock. After a restart the game would drop out on startup. Roll back to 314.22 - all good again.

This driver really should come with a warning - like a beta this is not prime time quality :(

On the plus side rollback was as simple as running the install (314.22). Even selected 'upgrade', kept all my settings and not even a restart.

even i get that speaker buzzing sound(like getting stuck) while playing games or watching videos
it is usually for second or two
but sometimes it just stays like that and i have to do a hard shutdown by holding powerkey
i highly suspect it is the video driver
does it have something to do with latency?

If it's a kind of hesitation (hiccup) in the sound then high latency will be to blame. You could use latencymon to watch for spikes when playing a video (as long as it does not lock up).

This happened to my last R3 after dell replaced the GPU (580m), and on that one it always happened at exactly 72C?? As soon as I saw that temp rollover, complete lockup and loud, continuous buzzing whatever game I was playing.

Yeah, I was hoping NV would come out with a fix for my lazy a** ;)

Under PCI Express Graphic section (R3 3D unlocked Bios, always plugged) disable ASPM (Active State Power Management) GPU handling PCIe link due to possible conflicts OS/BIOS/GPU (Max performance) different power states time / transition; power management settings causing high DPC latency.

We sure are on the same page with this one :D. When I read that 'some reports...' statement when it was first posted I couldn't respond as I was just too annoyed, the question 'about why is is still there?' was a gift for a quick dig :)

I've been in IT long enough to know bad code will sometimes get through the cracks. Especially if you put the programmers on unreasonable timescales. It's more to do with a trend for me as a customer. AMD seem to have a trend of poor drivers and that is what has kept me NV. I was prepared to sit and wait as it's only one bad one in a long line of successes but to have people's hardware fail, permanently, and then one example of a card almost burning down through the casing, it gets criminal in my eyes to leave the driver, ignore the reports, and pretend it's business as usual.

    Bad Nvidia, bad, bad. /rant_off

No, I haven't tried any other changes since it does not seem to be causing me many problems. All I get is the lockup in FF that you gave me the fix for ;).

The problem I had with portal2 turned out to be unrelated to the driver. It happened again yesterday. I rolled the driver forward and backwards, did all the usual cleaning but still it would not get to the main menu. Fix was to delete a couple of files and verify the installation in steam (this downloads only the missing files) then it worked, so a steam problem.

I've left the .18 driver on ATM as it definitely gives some improvement with latency even though the DPC number is higher. I have a few games that 'hiccup' on the sound during load. Never really bothered me but with this driver it does not happen. Guess it's about results and not numbers

Blank screen bug fixed, we need from Alienware / Clevo to release the update.

"Yes. This is a VBIOS issue. We fixed it in VBIOS but will require an update from Alienware. It was just fixed and verified a couple of days ago."

"CLEVO issue same cause and VBIOS also fixed it. For both laptops, the DFP entries in DCB table is ruled as invalid, so no gpio data set, and hence we don't detect the panel at all. "

One down, wonder how long for an update - seems a little bit convenient that they can blame the OEM's for a new driver exposing a BIOS bug (in both OEM's??) but hey ho, I expected no less, all the hardware issues are 'user caused' and unreproducible - like they are going to get 100 cards of each reported failure to see the failure rate!

They are not blaming the OEM's they can't do that, Dell/Clevo only tweak for their own needs. This bug is not related to hw /software combinations, all 3D Vision laptops w/ gtx 680m as essentially they share the same vbios from nvidia; tweaked or not.

I have a feeling that they are installin the 320 series drivers onto the 780m with a 3D screen. I suspect with a proper INF, installing 314.22 would fix the problems...

Yeah that's my most optimistic thinking, anyway it will be fixable. I would go for the MSI option as it has the faster Samsung vram modules, also waiting for the new M17 cpu heatsinks for the 4930XM and 4900QS OC 4.3GHz option will fit perfectly (R3 2960XM) then I'll be happy.

Hi, I'm trying to keep the first post up-to-date but basically NV are refusing to acknowledge hardware damage and the fanboys flame any post that says so. No update for the driver or release date.

The vBIOS relates to 680m/120hz display models. They get a blank screen after the install and have to go into safe mode (or use an external monitor) to roll back ;). Some people that are trying out a 780 seem to be having the same issue - but not confirmed.

I did post over in the new model discussions as my nightmare scenario is all the new machines being delivered and not tested as yet. What's the first thing you do with a new gaming rig - see if there is a new driver! No, noooo  A new WHQL is at least two/three weeks away since even the beta has not been released yet :(

"Yeah sorry about that. WE have given the new VBIOS to all of our partners so we hope the update should be coming out soon."

Maybe Luis Porras @Alienware-L_Porras and @Meaker through Sager NP9370-NV (Clevo P370EM 3D) might have access to this information as both laptops w/ gtx 680m require the new vbios.

Thanks man, I saw it but I'm very gun shy right now. My gaming (which is the primary use of this machine) is fine right now and an extra few FPS's can wait until more information surfaces ;)

I am interested to see if it works out-of-the-box without the modded inf, should do for me, hmm OCD is hitting again

I can confirm that the blank screen issue is not fixed! The issue still remains on my Alienware M17x 3D 120hz 1x680m & my P370EM3 3D 120hz SLI 680m.

It requires the fixed vbios Nvidia distributed to all it's partners a week ago, now its time for Dell / Clevo to release the update. How do you get Clevo Bios / VBIOS updates ? Clevo downloads is for drivers only, mine M17XR3 3D gtx 680m is from Clevo.

It says it requires a vBIOS update from the OEM so no, it's not going to work unless you got that vBIOS?

Edit: Ha ha, bumped into you j95 ;)

I PMed @Alienware-L_Porras as Nvidia had to inform Dell about the issue, after 4 released drivers; now Clevo downloads is a real piece of... work! (Clevo P370EM 3D) Bios updates / email.

has dell/alienware ever released a vbios update? how are they going to implement it?
i believe bios update is very different than vbios update(the only method i know is flashing it)

bios updates are done by simple windows exe files, can vbios updates be done the same way?
