They can be updated from a command prompt window and this is how I did mine, my 580m had a vbios update from dell. Their method was to make a bootable CD that flashes the vbios. from there you just use it as normal.

Could be a while before the vbios update NV recommended to dell gets implemented. Although NV will have sent them the code they still have to customise it with dell ID's. Depends on what resources dell assign to it - Luis, you watching? Any idea?

So does this blank screen issue affect Windows 8 too, or is it limited to Windows 7 users running a GTX680M in SLI and/or stereoscopic 3D?

And has anybody tried the 326.01 WHQL drivers intended for Windows 8.1?

EDIT: Sorry, forget that last bit. The new drivers are only for desktops and only appear to be available via Windows Update for people running WIndows 8.1. I should read more before I post links!

Although NV talk about 3D and Sli what I saw reported (many times) was that it happenes with a 120hz display/680m combination and did happen the same on win8.

Oh dear, it does sound like the driver pushed it too far and damaged it. You could apply the vbios update for the 580m that dell published for the R3. It takes you through creating a bootable CD (and there are other methods) and is quite straightforward. If that does not work then, you have reached the end of all possibilities (IMO) other than a damaged card :(

Thanks man, that puts it off the cards for me right now. I like to get to P1 clocks when OC'ing as it as many games cause it to kick in. Only inspector does this AFAIK. :(

I would have but the mod over in the NV forum said that that driver was released (as a whql as well) specifically to install cleanly with win 8.1 and does not contain many of the fixes currently being worked on from the previous beta.

Oh well, my 'toy' rig (2x295) crashed, literally, damn movers dropped it off the back of their truck  so this is my only gaming rig right now. Unless some problem arises on the old WHQL I think I'll watch and wait ;)

    Does this support 580M cards?
Because it can't be found on the search for drivers on NV

I did try the 326.19 clean install and got random lockups. Screen goes blank and fans run up a notch. Only hard reset. Happened 3 times just in windows. The last time win would go blank as soon as it loaded the driver and no sound or activity. Safe mode to roll back. Rolled back to 314.22, all good. Was benching fine in games up to that point, very slight increase in FPS but large decrease in temp (~-5c) and NO voltage hike at all. Almost there but no cigar :(

Did a 326.19 driver install running just fine so far. Seems pretty solid so far. My Frapps have gone up do seem to run up and down quite a bit. Better than the stock my 17 game with 311.48

Yeah always [Guide] Nvidia Drivers Clean Install any news about the VBIOS update or fix only within drivers ?

It's really a minor issue for now but that can change w/ the next driver release it only occurs when I set default screen refresh rate to 120Hz, slightly better scores 3DMark11 P8244 1006/4600
