That is a good question. I would like to know the answer also. Win7 index is not a good performance measurement. The 6990m gets 7.6, but the 580m is slihghtly faster.

Has anyone upgraded from 460M to the 580M with pix and steps on how to do it, and what extras you need?

    i have nearly the same:

    CPU: 7.5
    mem: 7.8
    gpu 7.3
    gaming 7.3
    hdd 5.9

offtopic: still thinking about the ssd. Is it a good choice ? I mean, what is the difference against 7200 rpm hdd ? 30% speed in global ?

I've recently switched to SSD and I can say that there is a HUGE difference. Boot up times are significantly lower (only a few seconds before I need to type my login info, and then a few more seconds before windows is fully loaded). There is no moving parts (like a spinning disc) so there is no wait for initial read/write either.

I understand there are concerns about limited write cycles and such, but from what I have read, the lifetime of these drives are still more than adequate. It's somewhere along the lines of a few years lifetime if you were to put the drive on constant stress test mode the entire time. Chances are, by the time I've outlasted my drive, I would have upgraded to whatever the new tech is anyway.

They are an expensive investment but well worth it in my opinion. My WEI for it is at 7.8.
