Same thing here, still looking for a good all-in-one monitoring software. Everest would be the perfect tool but it crashes my system too. In addition Everest would show you the chipset temps, and those can be very important.

see above
is only annoying that it takes a few clicks to get to the temps -
trying HWInfo32 now.. thanks.
Everest beta does not crash but since it's a trial version it won't show the temps, so i can't confirm it can actually read them. -
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
even the dimms haha
-
HWInfo32 is kinda working, but as you said, you need to click through to get there, and the window has to stay open in order for the tray icons to be displayed.
It's surely better than nothing,but it's not ideal ..
It does show chipset temp Aikimox -
Wow, nice! I'm on it.
Mfractal, what's your MCP temp? -
59, a little high right ?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is just my laptop sitting on the Cryo with the fans all at low and the bottom cover removed
If that helps on a baseline temp reading -
oh, i am on a cryo with fans on low too...
-
Is it your idle temp with a cooler pad? -
-
5 minutes of prime95 small FFTs, cpu max temp got to 70, chipset does not move from 59.. i am starting to think it's not reading it right or smth
-
Well, looks like the Nvidia MCP wasn't that bad after all. In addition, looking at both R1 and R2, I don't really see how the R2 is much better. They both have pros and cons. Even their screens are comparable IMHO. Yes, the RGB is 2x brighter but the CCFL is better at viewing angles (especially the vertical), plus the colours look more natural to me (hopefully the RGB can be calibrated additionally to fix this). The temps are clearly better in R1. The level of 'electical' noise is higher with the R2. The R2 has a passive MCP cooling which after long hours of gaming might become a problem. The R1 has the integrated graphics -> better battery life. But the R2, of course, has the new platform (PM55+i5/7).
So, honestly Scook,... I don't really see the big rush here. The only real problem with R1 was the latency (fixed by now). -
I'll check mine in 2 hrs (still @work) -
cool, let me know.
Going to sleep, so i'll check back tmrrw -
In relation to HWiNFO32 where it shows my RAM. Shouldn't the RAM speed say 1333MHz since that is what I purchased? Or do these monitoring programs show it in a different way? Or am I reading it wrong? All the monitor programs I have tried show the RAM speed at 666.7 MHz. I cross referenced the part numbers of my RAM sticks on the internet and they say they are the 1333 MHz variety:
Elpida Module Part Number: EBJ21UE8BDS0-DJ-F
Could someone enlighten me on why I see the different speed than what I purchased? I'm still learning about these programs. -
-
So the R1s screen on par with the RGB? I think this is the best panel I have seen on any laptop to date. If I knew the R1s ccfl was on par with this I would have got an R1 with a huge discount.

In addition if you look on a plain white background the white isn't white (RGB LED) at all, partly pinky, partly yellowish, no plain white. The Only big difference to me is the brightness of the RGB LED. Maybe I got a bad/poorly calibrated screen with the R2, dunno. Also the bleeding on a black background is clearly noticeable.
Is there a tool to calibrate the RGB ? -
The RGB LED does need adjustment for the over saturated red but that's been a given for a long time. However, if you cannot see the MUCH better color gamut then something is terribly wrong (either with the display or your eyes). Once I get my system replacement, I'll be calibrating it to 1.8 gamma like Anandtech did, I think that's the optimum setting for this display. Take a look at Anandtech's recent analysis of the M6500 display (which AFAIK uses the same Samsung display though some have LG now):
-
Thanks Joker, I'll look into it now.
Is it just me or the brightness should be greatly reduced to be able to look at it in a dark room?
Even @min brightness the RGB is about the CCFL @max. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
The higher the brightness the less you notice reflections on the screen
-
-
It's a very bright display which is great. It brings out the vividness in colors more than a dim panel would. BTW have you tried the Windows built in calibration tool? It's not much but it does help you adjust it to your liking. -
Told You it burned retinas. ..your all like that's OK and you get it and minimum even isn't low enough...
Congrats and the Intel Chooser temps have NO bearing so that means nothing please don't way it's bad because a lot of new people will read it has problem.s -

Posting from your phone again Moo?
-
Yes why?
Look retarded? It has its own mind with my words being its way out -
Will need to do some homework on it...
-
Eggheads stupid phone
The Intel chipset does very little its why the temps don't change. The CPU has everything built on it now. It reduces the workload and on top of the the Chipset is part of the mobo. So its rated much much higher temperatures then say a gpu
There is no need to worry. About temperatures and any mention of overheating will only cause 10000 threads about" help I think I am overheating "
Hopefully that explains it. .. -
Also if you find a decent ICC for the M17x-R2 RGBLED and you apply it OS wide it will not be applied whilst playing full screen playing games. You need to use Powerstrip to stop the ATI drivers overwriting the LUT when you load a full screen game. I've just discovered this on my SXPS and games look absolutely gorgeous now! -
I'll have to keep that in mind. For something better than the Windows color calibration tool, Samsung has a pretty decent one: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/learningresources/monitor/naturalcolorexpert/pop_download.html
I used it to modify my gamma settings and tweak the color a bit and it looks nicer than default.
Edit: I downloaded that game streaming application, seems pretty cool. If anyone wants to try it out with me, shoot me a PM. I've created a group with my games so I'm curious to see how it works. -
I used ccc
-
Joker the profiles the we have been using on the SXPS were produced with very expensive calibration hardware - Spyder Express etc. Windows Color is just the mechanism used to load the calibration files. -
Yeah I gathered that much. I'll eventually get around to purchasing calibration tools for my system. I'm trying to get a hold of someone else's icc profile for the samsung rgb led over at the m6500 forum for now. BTW what is the windows 7 lut loader fix? -

Hopefully someone can get some proper profiles for our RGB screens to get them looking their absolute best.

Does anyone have graphics distortions when the CrossFire is enabled?
I had it with Dell stock drivers, 9.12, 10.3. Did a clean install, re-seated the CF cable and the GPUs and still have it.
The distortions (like trembling/catching up images) only appear in games under load, and only with the CF enabled. If I turn it OFF everything is fine.
My system came with A02 BIOS, btw.
Any ideas? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
is it maybe tearing?
try vsync -
Do you mean the CCC vsync or in-game? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
either one, when set in the game it just tells CCC to use it (CCC=video driver)
-
try D3DOverrider, it's bundled with rivatuner. solved all my tearing issues. Vsync is not helping much...

it's all read here :

Hello all. I have having problems with my M17X R2. I have been playing Mass Effect 2 and the screen flashes when playing. I have not OC'ed the processor or video cards. I have not updated the Bios. However, I am using the Beta ATI 10.3 drivers. The settings in game are set on high as with my laptops spec it should be able to handle ME2 I would assume. Any ideas what is going on? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK...Isn't that BIOS for overclocked procs though? Also, I tried to install the BIOS and it says that I cannot use it because I have a 64 bit OS.

Where is the option in Crossfire to select different types of frame rendering? Nvidia cards had "Nvidia recommended" "force alternate frame rendering" etc. I can't seem to find any of these kind of options in the CCC, anyone know where these settings are?
-
i didn't play that many games yet so it's like 2 out of 3
