You are right. I will ask him to make that window independant.
I know that. I also have agreed on an API with him.
What I am missing is css and HTML experience. I am more of a server side j2ee guy.

    Good idea , bro!
The program is great lacking only the comfortable stand alone temps window or the all-in-one window similar to Everest.
    +1.

Actually, it would be cool if whatever you guys released were able to sit the temperatures on the taskbar (next to the clock) when minimized like RealTemp does for the CPU cores.

That already exists now in hwinfo. I sensors window right click any reading and choose to put it in the taskbar. You can also autostart the program with windows and auto open the sensors window + start it minimized.

This gadget is probably pretty similar to what you're trying to accomplish. Maybe you can get some code ideas from it. The CSS, XML, and HTML parts look pretty straightforward.

i agree that having a standalone sensors executable is a plus, hope he'll agree.

Eek! No, don't use paper! Just use something cotton-a clean undershirt or hankerchief should work okay and be safer than paper, which can scratch. (Err...I have used paper before, but it's bad, bad! On something we look at all the time...)

Use a power/pressure-washer, it can also help make the screen anti-glare 100% :p

Yes, Dell highly recommends not to do it other than in a lab/dust-free room. I'd like to know if the E2E cover adds some durability , and if not - remove it , cut the screen-sized frame out and put the frame back, covering only the black border and exposing the screen. Wanna make it anti-glare ;)

You know, my old friend - ThinkPad R40 has an exposed LCD and it was poked zillions of times and I can still work on it at the office (can't be done on the R2 with all the reflections). Yes, you have to be more careful with the exposed screen, but heck, I need and anti-glare. Otherwise it's gonna become a home TV+XBOX COMBO and I'll stay away from it and get another system that will first of all let me keep my eyes. If you spend 2-3hrs near the glare screen in a room with dim lights - you're fine. But I can go like crazy for up to 20hrs every day (if I get the time) and it's burning retinas as Moo said before. The last chance for me to keep the beast is to make the screen matte. :(

I hear you constantly complaining a lot about this screen in quite a few different threads. Curious... why did you buy an M17x when you knew it was only offered with a glossy screen? or was it a replacement for another Dell model?

I didn't know back then before buying the R1 that glossy screens are that bad (for me) on the long run (because I never used one for more than a few hours). Plus, I hoped that a matte shield would be a decent solution. Unfortunately, to effectively use it you need the remove the glossy cover.

Ah I see, well I know most of them are total crap, but there must be a manufacturer somewhere that makes good quality effective matte screen covers. I wouldn't give up looking for a cover, the M17x R2 is too nice to have to get rid of.

I tried the ViewGuard, they're not bad at all, but the problem is that you can't put the filter on the screen itself and putting it over the glossy cover destroys the quality and creates a rainbow of colored dots. :(

Paper towel is a bad idea! It's a lot rougher than you think. Not counting on cheap paper tower where you can still find some micro wood fiber left in it.
I bought a 'Monster Screen Clean' from Ultimate Electronics a few years back for my TV and still use it today. The package has a bottle of fluid and lint free tower in it.
    That's just my opinion.

we're in the process of testing a HWiNFO32 beta build with this functionality.
Also, we will add support of sidebar gadget that will display all temps all the time with the sensors window minimized.

    Dammit...

You got the R2, right ?

I am supposed to get an exchange from R1→R2, and was hoping this morse code would not be there...

For me, it's more than annoying, it's a real pain in my ears and head...

But maybe we are the only ones who can hear it; I know not everyone can, wish I was deaf to this particular bip-bip-biiiip-bip-biiip...

    Any clue any one

Pretty sure thats just proccessor noise. Most laptops make that and it's the CPU under load I believe. It's normal. Mine did it. Actually all my laptops do it.

    yup i got R2.
i was so excited and when i hear the morse code thingy my excitement goes to 0 since i know something is wrong.
maybe mfractal know about it. bcoz when i scroll my mouse it gets louder
and i just realize another problem about the screen, i don't think a LED screen should looks like mine. The screen is very normal, not beautiful like what everyone said.

Put on headphones, with the volume up but no music playing. You'll probably notice it more then as it leaks interferance it'll come through your headphones. It's not loud though.

Mine does it on a continuous basis. The only time I can't hear it is when the fans start to go crazy. It seems to me like some kind of electronic interferences, which should be "controlled"; isn't there specifications against noise and interferences generated by electronic devices ?

What the heck IS that though? I mean CPUs can't make noise...right? Can capacitors or something?

I get whine from my second gen Playstation 3, but ONLY when viewing certain pages on the PSN store. How weird is that?

Two things you could be hearing, 1. Coil noise from the GPU, 2. CPU whine. Both are normal, but yes, they are annoying. It's from the load. Believe it or not but they can make noise. You pushing a lot of ops/sec. My 1720 and M17x did it when scrolling on webpages. Scroll...whine. Scroll...whine

What I hear is some kind of biiiip-biiip-bip-bip-biiiip-biiiiip-bip-bip...

Exactly as if my lappy was trying to reach his alien mothership out there in space by sending some morse code...

Is that what you guys with R2 are hearing as well?

there was once a software fix for it but it was for the Pentiums so i am pretty sure it won't work on the new Core CPUs..
don't know about GPU noise, never seen one....
