+rep for you finding it -
does anyone know if the i5 processors main-board/heat sink solutions are any different from the i7 processor? I've been thinking about buying the cost-competitive upgrades now, and saving myself $500 and buying a 920XM off ebay later instead of going through dell for $1100..

Quick question to all R2 owners.
Anybody had any success with the R2 reading a San Disk Secure Digital Extreme III card?
This is the first time I try to get pictures in my R2, I usually work on my 730X desktop which has no problems reading the card, even my older M170 laptop read the card fine as well.
It is a 1GB card and I got the latest Ricoh drivers... I wonder if I have a bad reader or it just does not read the Extreme faster cards...
Thanks -

ugggggggggg - ordered my 2nd HDD bracket and it came in today, but they didn't include the plug adapter....
so i get to call again... oh the joy... -
after the guy on the phone said "interposer" - as the adapter i'm missing i remembered a bunch of posts from people about this...
sigh... -
Lol, so many similar posts are on this forum. Dell is just kidding us. I got mine with only 1 screw, some got 2 covers but no interposers, etc... Hilarious. Looks like there's a random parts generator handling our requests.
-
soooooooooo aside from being on hold for 15minutes while this guy enters my order into the random part generator...
Has anyone found a good laptop wetsuit/protective neoprene case for these things?
it won't even fit into my usual work briefcase so i put it in my backpack with the cloth sleeve they provide...
for me this is going to be on the road a bit so i'd like to add some protection for the case -
I'm using the Orion backpack and it's just perfect. The weight distribution is great. Highly recommend. here. I got it from alienware gear shop, but it was also available trough Dell.com.

I can vouch for the slappa spyder.
The build quality is superb and it fits the beast nicely. -
How do you check what version of Command Center you're using?
Thanks -
Hi,
click on the alienhead in command center.
Best regards
Rolf -
I checked and downloaded all the updates for version 8 but it still wouldn't work.
Thanks for the help. -
Glad it worked and the most important - it's not the hardware itself! Enjoy!

Is anybody running 10.3a from amd underground. I updated and while some games seem to be better GTA IV seems to be having serious frame rate issues ie. slowing to 14-17 fps constantly. Every other game seems to be fine though, anybody else having this issue?
-
Looks like the hope to see those 5870s is fading a little or is it just me?
-
They might never make it to M17X. But something else will, probably and hopefully soon.

If you like backpacks thought i bought one from targus 3 years ago for 80$ from best buy and it will hold m17x no problem, just doesn't have the nice soft interior but it is water proof -
10.3a issues anyone?
-
Nope, everything's smooth.
-
Aikimox do you have GTA IV installed to check if there are issues on your system?
-
Nope. I only have Crysis, Dragon Age and King's Bounty TAP currently installed. Anyway, you have not much choice as other drivers including the stock one have some reported issues.
-
I've got GTA IV installed, it runs very smooth. Max settings, native resolution and it stays in the 45-60+ fps range. The game is highly CPU dependent so the 920xm helps a lot.

Wow I'm loving my new system, so glad I didn't sell it! Seems it's got golden sample GPU's because they're hitting 640/1050 (still testing) in vantage so far on stock voltage without a hitch. My older R2's GPU's barely did 610/1000 on stock voltage. Very happy so far. *knocks on wood and holds rabbits foot*

Nice, my GPU's can also handle 650/1050 on stock voltage.

I was able to do Crysis at 630/???? on my ATIs at stock volts, and Crysis will push your system harder than Vantage does.
-
Warhead or regular? I will try warhead later

That was after a while of testing, Crysis would push the gpus hard and stuttered due to power shortages at all if I overvolted. So was forced to find my max OC at stock volts. I know was 630 core for the benchmark run. Have not actually played crysis in a while.
It was the original game with patches to version 1.2 -

Turns out I was wrong, was 620 on core and not 630. Found a screenshot as well. Pulled a pretty good run out of this machine

I know in my R1 if I overvolt the GPUs, OC the CPU, keep the screen full brightness and the AlienFX lights all on, and then stress the system I get stutters associated with a lack of power.
Same as I saw with the GTX 280m's -
It seems the 10.3 were officially released today. Do i uninstall the Dell drivers and install them? or do i need to reboot before i install them?
-
Not with OC'ing it for vantage runs. I played metro 2033 (a game more taxing than Crysis) last night for an hour on stock clocks and it was running perfect. I'll OC it to 630ish today to see if I get any flickering. -
-
Wait...Im not sure if thats right...

I am really not trying to dwell on the same thing but I was wondering...This website lists all mobile GPU cards by performance ratings. My brother and I were looking at it and says that the single 4870 a better performing card than first thought. This site rates the 4870 above sli conf of other high end cards. Do you all agree with the ranking of this card on this site? I have been debating getting the second card but I am on the fence.
-
-
Any performance gain with the official 10.3?
-
-
You can also get it for other os from here

Tested Metro 2033 @ 620/1050 on stock voltage and it ran without a hitch. Going to try higher clocks later on but so far everything is working great.

I'm liking the game a lot so far. It does get a bit repetitive towards the end but overall I'd give it a solid 8/10. The AI needs work and they need to optimize the game further. Max CPU temps while running metro 2033: 76/69/76/70 on a 920xm at stock clocks and temps during normal usage are 46/42/45/42. I'd say this system is cooling better than my last one.
