    Oh BTW,

    I just looked into portable mouse,

    and I came across the Razer Orochi.

    It seemed perfect- compact, carrying case, wireless and wired usage,

    is the Orochi worth it? Or is the mamba definitely the best?..

    Also, the MX series seem to be really oddly shaped. Are they comfortable?

    I'm torn between the Orochi and Sidewinder,

    both of which look awesome.. any ideas?

    Hi Guys,

    so Dell has been working to replace my wife's R1 with an R2. So far i received 2 R1's, they are stacked in my office. She's still using the original. (Core2-2.4, 250g, single gtx 260, no bt, dvdrw, 900p and 4gb 1066)

    The 1st replacement is an R1 q9000, 250g, dual gtx 280's, bt, dvdrw, 900p and 4gb 1066) over all its overclocked to 2.45ghz [1300 fsb]. Its very stable i have been using it to check out it's performance while waiting for the next replacemnt.

    A second R1 arrived and it was another q9000 but gtx 260's so the first replacement was way better.

    I just logged in and saw an order for an R2 thats suppose to arrive tomorrow. Its an I5 540, single 5870, 250gb hd, 900p, dvdrw, 4gb 1066.

    So the real question i have is which is better long term? I'm sure the GTX 280's sli are stronger than the single 5870 but im not so certain about the processor. 4 cores at 2.45 vs 2 with HT at 2.9....

    any advice? recommendations?

    I have an Orochi and a Mamba, They both work different ways though. For portability nothing i have beats the orochi. but for long term comfortable gaming i'll go with the mamba. But you can't carry the mamba around effectively unless you want it to be wired all the time. (the base is awkward).

    sorry to bother u guys. i just receive my replacement quote and i am not clear with the term (my poor english)

    "I am writing in confirmation of the agreement to replace your system outright with a brand new unit from the factory on an exchange basis." and "This is on an outright exchange basis and hence will continue
    the same warranty conditions and expiration dates as per initial purchase."

    Is this mean my replacement will be a refurb one? or it will be a new one?

    If you want something that feels nice in both hands, have a look at the Steelseries Xai. It's not cheap, but it's very comfortable and is completely ambidextrous.

    I've been using one on my work PC for a while. I mostly mouse with my left hand to prevent RSI/OOS, but switch to the right for late Friday afternoon Urban Terror matches.

    i did fresh install and apply dell's latest driver, so might be the card itself.

    If there is i have not seen anyone on here on the forum.
    Until there sorted out i will be giving them a wide berth.Another reason i am not so sure is the temps,the 4870's i got run @ great temps unlike 5870's there like 30+c higher than 4870's.

    Yeah, the temps are brutal. I know they are fine for the specifications but that would make the keys and palmrest quite hotter. Right now, they are just not appetizing to me. Let's see what happens later on.

    7. Never forget to repeat step #1 as often as necessary...

    8. Sell you monkey laptop, get rid of you frustration and buy an Asus !

    Dude...

    Don't get us wrong: we fully understand your frustration, and, YES, a lot of us here have gone tru the same kind of problems/unresolved issues you experiment yourself. We feel your pain; we're on the same boat !

    Now, this being said, as you know in every aspect of live, siht might always happen, and the way a sthity situation is handled determines how good we humans are dealing with such situations.

    If I understood you correctly, humans that took care of your case did not handle/address your request professionally. Guess what ? You got it, you're not alone...

    For instance, I had a XPS M1730 for which I got a full refund more than 9 months after the purchase;

    Then, I got an M17X-R1 plagued with such latency and Nvidia faulty/crappy Hard/Soft/Ware, for which many parts have been replaced;

    Then, I got an R2-Flavor replacement because the R1 unit would never have been able to deliver what was advertized;

    On this R-2, all fans have been changed; both 4870 have been changed, MOHTERBOARD have been changed 3 times, heck you're right: 3 times;

    I am getting another brand NEW R-2 to replace the one I've writing with at this very moment...
    :p

    Must be that there a way to get what you want other than just crippling with insults... ...But again, just a thought though....

    At the end of the day, it looks like you'll get the refund you were aiming at, and that's good for you.

    However, should you be willing to explore what other options you COULD have used instead of the way you just expressed your (justified) frustration, may I kindly point you out that yelling and insulting will get you nowhere near where you want to go...

    Yes, many Tech Support folks @ Alienware know much less about my M17X, and about any computer in general than I do myself;

    Yes, they're telling you to do this and that while you may on your side know from the very start that what they ask you to do is a TOTAL waste of time;

    Yes, they might try to "stuck you in the corner", leaving you with no possibility of getting the service you deserve and paid for, that's also part of the game (yet not cool);

    However, by staring firm but POLITE, you can still get what you deserve, but you have to hold yourself to simply express your frustration without any reserve, if you see what I mean...

    Last but not least: PLEASE, here or there, try to NOT write in MMS style, use full words, USE A DICTIONARY, SO PEOPLE WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU EXPRESS, therefore, you help yourself as it might just help you to get where you wannabee, see ? ;)

    Stay cool :cool: and AWAY FROM EUROCOM: If you found that Dellianware's customer service is not on par to what you should get, I am telling ya: last thing you want to do is give Eurocom a try...

    All the best and Cheers !
    ;)

    I guess I am one the lucky ones.....I have had 2 HD's replaced with just a phone call and supporting documentation emailed to AW support (I emailed them screen shots of a SMART test in both cases), had a tech on site in 2 days to replace a vid card and re-seat the other card and the cross fire cable.

    The vid card replacement was to correct a stuttering issue a while back.

    I did call AW direct instead of Dell though, and customer service was great

    No issues for quite a while.

    I am sure there are two sides to all these problems, but we must remember most like 99% of us seems to get what we want from Dell in the end. And I honestly have never ever got a new computer let alone one nicer than the one I bought from any other company, and I'v had a lot of notebooks. Like 20+ I buy for my hole family. So maybe some people should cut a little slack. No reason to get ugly or post it here! :eek:

    replacing parts its a routine for them, but when it comes to more serious issues and complicated techniqal stuff like latency or 5870 CF support on 4870s machines they are mostly useless.

    just bla bla bla dont worry when you get the same problems and dell replacing your motherboard 3 times within two weeks period. i think your hapiness also goes away suddenly. not to mention 2nd time have to fight with them 2 or 3 months to replace that god-damned laptop... and anyone you speek just tell you "i so sorry you getting trouble" and "i arrange a callback for you for tomorrow" and hell-ya my phone continuesly ringing for eternity, if i dont call them... already spent £240 on just calling dell and aw in the last 3 weeks just if someone interesting i can upload the call recordings... and dont be afraid to use words beginning with capital "F" even if you talking to the manager...
