Hahaha, fair enough dude.
Here's my last vantage for the day. After tweaking CCC a little and crankin' up the gpu a tad more.

wow 890/1220 impressive. next time take the screen showing the cpu and gpu scores seperately too.
-
Is it not in the result page? I think I need to register or something, to view the scores the way you pro's do.
3DMark Score
15446 3DMarks
Graphics Score 14270
CPU Score 20522
Jane Nash 42 FPS
New Calico 40 FPS
AI Test 2873 operations/s
Physics Test 26 operations/s -
oops my bad, i always look at the screen shot. lolz
looks like your good to go, with the right driver and ccc setting you can prolly gave dane a run for his money. i will prolly need a better cpu to be able to stay a contender. -
With that said, as someone who was never into benchmarking or pushing technology to the limits I am finding it more and more interesting and fun. It's nice to know that you have something that can surpass expectations I guess. This was like my 5th or 6th benchmark... ever.
Haha good times indeed!
Oh and just an fyi, this is with stock pads, paste AND cooling. Which is why I wont go too much further without a re-paste and/or newer cooling system.
I actually used a nice big gelatin ice pack covered with a little material on the underside of my m17x while the benches were running, just to keep those temps down. I felt so ghetto as the bench switched from gpu to cpu tests and I am moving the pack over the the left side under the cpu. lol it's definitely not any dry ice, but it made a difference nevertheless. -
hahah be careful it becomes addicting very fast, especially when you are seeing good results. hope to see more result form you, we need more competition on here. anyways congrats on the scores, your now official on the leader boards.

If you are going benchmark I recommend just buying the license for 3DMark. I have purchased 01-11 just to keep my options open lol (and got a good deal)
You only have to get 01 full price (which aint much) then you can get an upgrade license for each after that. You just have to buy them in order. I actually got 06 and Vantage free with various desktop computer parts.
And ice packs are just the start haha.....you will probably end up getting a portable AC just for benching or throwing it in the freezer like me and Moo have done lol -
thanks for the tip scook, so 3dmark keys and a chest freezer are must haves.lolz
-
Lmao, I feel like I just joined a very creative yet lethal club.
Thanks scook and inap, I'll definitely look into all of that sometime in the near future. -

Prepare to have no social life! lol
I know I spent way too much time in the dungeon that is my basement huddled next to a chest freezer. This was my setup
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...enchmark-thread-part-3-a-363.html#post6440029 -
so any freezer runs with the M18x yet scooks. how is the 2920xm performing?
-
Scook, that's awesome man hahaha.
And I am so choked, I had 3dmark11 running 890/1250 and it was on the final test (Combined) and the last 5 seconds or so she locked up. QQ! -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
My best runs on my R1 all crashed right after showing the score so I could not record them -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
(and the chest freezer is disgusting right now, got moldy and stuff, need to bleach it out) -
So very sad.. this is all I could get for now!

Nice scores! I'll update later this evening, running through some house chores at the moment. But yea, it definately gets addicting. I put too much into it
. Here were my benching setups. When I get time I'm getting a desktop mobo so I can do more benching on some older 775 socket chips. Thats when the dice cup will really be handy.
Agree with scook too that the best scores don't get recorded. I hit 23,700+ in the Vantage CPU score, but crashed after pasting the screen shot into paint. Don't know why I hesitated to drop the CPU multi
Scook, anyway to mount a dice pot on that M18x....?

Wimbledon...really? lol
That is crazy, I do not know that I will resort to DICE but it is definitely inspiring -
Wow rofl. And Mr.Intense walks in
Pretty sick stuff guy. -
Hahaha, took me a min to figure what you were talking about
Yea fiance was working so I took the chick flicks laying around to level the Cryo. I've never seen the movie, but it serves a good purpose. We had just moved so a lot of random stuff laying around
But always time for benching!
Also does NBR seem to be having more advertisements that you have to click past? whats the deal on that?
I need benching rehab... -

The CPU is top accessible, so I am sure it can be done. Although keeping the touchpad connected may not be possible. -

wow nice scores man!!!! great improvements!!!! congrats man dam now i got more competition hahahah

Btw dude, I've been wondering.. how did you get the core to 910 on your 6970 for that Vantage run?! -
i was using the 11.4 driver with ac cooling. but my latest run has a better score with lower clocks.
-
And I've noticed or what it seems to me is that sometimes the laptop really favors one benchmark. Like mine blazes through 06 without ridiculous clocks, yet for vantage/11 I really need to push it hard to get the numbers I am looking for and then it locks up a lot til I can find the sweet spot(which happens to change everyday so far). -
yeah but was using a different driver too. my best run was with 11.5rc1
-
So the driver really does make a catastrophic difference. If I want to improve further, I'll really need to look into that.
Btw, my scores today were with a minor tweak in bclk as I am sure you could see in cpu-z. What are your thoughts on bclk for the i7 2720/2820? I only upped it to 100.9 from 99.7 but I'd like to think there was a difference. I know almost nothing about cpu OCing. I only know that with these CPU's (17x r3s) we are VERY limited. -
i havent heard of anyone going past 105.5 bclk yet. the system wont boot.
mine runs @ 105bclk max. its so lame too because with the right voltage and and unlocked multiplier i could get 1.5ghz out of this proc. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
M18x could not post with 105 MHz
Fortunately though I have multis I can manipulate -
right now i have been using 107 for my blk and i do see a improvement in cpu scores. i'm trying to hit 22k cpu vantage but not sure if it would be possible but i'm dam close to it. but you should be able to do it with your 2820 and a higher blk.
but like you said it still pretty limited, but every little bit counts when benching. see if you can bump it up higher. -
Damn dude, 107 on your 2720? Intense! -
dam i really miss having an xm chip to bad the bios lacks the right support for it. makes me sad.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I need to repaste though, running wprime on 8 threads I hit 80 on all cores lol (albeit with slightly bumped TDP)
Hardly a long term solution -
lmao i just tried 105.1 it wont even boot.... -
wow just checkout some of your runs zero very impressive man.
strange that it won't boot, on the r3 it would just reset to stock. -
-
for me if i go too high the bios would just reset the blk back to stock. so no risk really.
-
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
They will all behave the same.
-
also forgot, if you go too high the bios would just freeze, and reboot itself to stock blk.
like scook said should be the same for everyone. -
Sweet, thanks again guys.
-
-
Also found that going too high all at once would cause bios freeze. I can go like 2-2.5bclk at a time then need to reboot back into bios and keep going.
-
My bclk is at 105 right now, actual number in bios is like 10516.
Everything seems to be smooth, guess I'll try to go a bit further and update you guys in a bit.
Also, as a random observation I noticed all of a sudden all the idle cpu temps are like 38C, that's stock cooling. They were 48-52 before I started messing with the bclk.
Edit* The temps are back to normal, who knows. But as for current differences in the change in bclk, the original 99.7mhz (x31) ran the ThrottleStop 32M 8 threads test in roughly 10.85 seconds. with 105mhz it just ran at 10.007 seconds. And the 12 threads 32M test in 11.406 seconds at default bclk and with 105mhz at 10.766 seconds. -
Yeah wow yours smokes mine, pretty odd. My bclk is at 10608 right now (105.9mhz in TS).
9.961 seconds now for the 8thread 32M, still big difference. Why would that be? -
just turned my bclk back up to like 106.25 or something and temps bloody skyrocketed to 85C
Normal load temps at 105 are like 72 lol
*turns bclk back down* -
My bclk is at 106.4 right now, temps = normal same as default bclk.
9.887 at 106.4
12thread 32m in 9.9 seconds
BCLK = 106.9mhz now. Running smooth, temps normal 1 or 2 degrees above normal at idle.
Bios reset bclk at 10758. -
Try running prime at 8 threads instead of 12.
