It would appear that you and I have gifted CPUs haha!

Thanks, you too! Considering mine is a 2820 and yours is a 2720, that's very impressive.

Hey I was wondering, is there a way to only run the cpu tests from 3dmarkvantage? I wanted to have a crack at the 22k+ cpu score. My guess is that it's part of the paid 3dmarks to pick and choose specific tests. Not sure though.

I suppose the M18x will have the spot-light now that more and more people are receiving theirs. Man that thing is a beast, 6970 CF is insane.

I see so many threads about people having issues with their gpu in game and seeing weird stuff but I have yet to see any of it. I guess I got lucky -knocks on wood- .

I just realized that my 3dmark06 score might actually be in the very top 5 for all three revisions of m17x!

Haha, awesome it'd be nice to see an R3 up there with that collection of R2s. By the way nap, your 11 and Vantage scores are still really incredible. I am having trouble approaching those numbers even with my cpu, so you don't have to worry just yet.

yeah i can't bet that 06 score for sure, still having trouble breaking the 22k for it. the highest i manage was this: i like running vantage and 11 more since the test are shorter.

Yeah the 3D effect doesn't show any different than on a standard screen. Looking forward to another person joining the chase, I guess I have to bust out the benchmarks again this weekend as Inap is creeping up on my Vantage score and I think Basilownzyou finally beat my 06 score by a bit. Nice runs Basil.

Yeah but I seem to be running into power issues. Damn vantage shuts down when I overclock slightly more, not even to 800 core. Gaming stock clocks on everything I still run into throttling issues. Which is why I'm on the hunt for an R3 as it is likely that I won't run into similar issues.

Yeah I really don't think I deserve this card and should be given to benchers like you. However like all humans, I am greedy and I shall be keeping this. Trust me I shall not hold back when I get a laptop that is actually able to power this card properly.

Dang we could have swapped if you wanted to flog your R3. I know you always have the Old Yeller itch.

was seriously thinking about picking one up from the outlets just to bench, but some stuff came up so i can't afford to now.

the card is in good hands, i know you will push it when you can. i'm planning on reincarnating old yeller but r3 edition, hahaha but prolly need to invest in a better cpu first, everyone is kicking my butt in benching.

Nice score widezu and thanks Dane.

So far my latest scores are on page 57, 15775 - Vantage, 3899 - 11 and 22462 - 06. Don't really know where I stand though, it seems there are a lot of scores not on the boards yet. DR650SE has disappeared! I don't know what it is, but my laptop hates 3dmark11 and sometimes vantage too.

Edit ~ I see your scores in your sig Dane, nice job. I decided to copy you and just keep my latest runs in my sig. :p

yeah prolly pick up a cheap 2820 since the 2920 is friggin so expensive and won't have any oc options so its not really worth the money.

didn't really plan on benching that much when i bought it, but i've caught the benching bug again, hahahah

And when that time comes it'll be going into the 18x or perhaps 19x who knows, then the 3k CPUs or new "Ultra" processors will be on their way too!...

    19" wont happen lol

But 3000 series, that may be how they name ivy bridge stuff (I really hope....otherwise the numbers will be too confusing)

I would not expect the 2920xm to drop much in price though....not until Ivy Bridge has been out a while

they'll probably scrap either 17x or 14x and keep the 18x
not update bios so you have to buy r2/r4 for upgrades!

Hopefully xm prices drop before ivy.
Performance gains on ivy will be ill! (hopefully)
Probably outpace the 2920 (unlocked) with a lowly 3720QM!

It's been a while since I visited this thread. In fact, did not even notice we were on Part 4 until today.

Very nice 3DMark06 scores, Basil. I really need to get a 920 or 940 XM/ES CPU, as my humble little 720QM is a real bottleneck.

Or better yet, an M18x, but not enough wiggle room in the grocery budget right now. :)
