That could be why haha

Yep most certainly that is why...

The RAM would not necessarily be unstable.

any r3 3d06 benchmarks, or are they not worth doing?
I don't want to install vantage and want something to compare with :/ -

Why do you not want to install vantage? It is the most used benchmark right now since 06 is getting old but not every one has DX11 hardware.
-
because I'm lazy and don't bench very much
I installed it anyway though
got just over 11k.
Nothing exciting. -
-
yeah I got just barely over 16k earlier today. I guess the verde drivers aren't so bad after all.
-
What are the new AMD 'monster card' 3D06 scores?
-
sorry been lazy to run 06, i always prefer vantage for gpu comparisons.
here is vantage @ 850/1050Attached Files:

Nice score inap and i love the new sig

What's the stock voltage on that card inap? And yes you are quite good at "roastin the GPU's"
-
Edit. Nope. About 25% stock. And 15% using dane's. OC data. Need a same CPU, memory reference with both gpus oc'ed as it seems 460 has more headroom thus far. Maybe when kune gets his amd... -
-
Yes you are, sorry, I forgot I could see that on your GPU-Z screenshot... LOL -
using the 11.4, they perform much better then the stock. did you manage to get it working joe?
-
I am just getting home and just received my SATA III 6GB SSD. Installing that first then I will do some benchmarking but I will get it to work.
-
the only way i got it to work was to install it over the dell driver, for some reason a clean install would not work.

Wonder what the deal with these cards are, sounds like an updated vbios might be needed too.
-
Still figuring out why the R3s aren't seeing the benefits of the 11.4 drivers.
When I tried 850mhz core and 1100mhz memory, The computer kept shutting off in the middle of the runs even though it showed no signs of instability. It's probably because I maxxed out the TDP on the primary MXM slot.
825/1075 worked though:

OMG, I paid the $6.95 for basic Vantage 3 days ago and today they upgraded the basic edition for free...
No more trial version. What a rip off for me. -
@ichime
Your scores are marginally higher then the R3 scores and if you look at the Texture fill rate between iNaps and yours you will see how much higher yours is with only a small difference in clock speeds between the 2.
Something must be a bit different between that ES card and the final product ?.. -
Jack Sparrow would never pay $6.95 for (what is now) a free program

My latest run: 14300

If you look at my GPU-Z screenshot under shader, look what it says... -
Holy frijoles Batman!!! they crippled the retail version of the card i guess..
I wonder if the final version of the Clevo card will be the same as yours ?..
Very interesting and also makes since why the texture fill rate would be higher as well..
I should have been paying closer attention when i was comparing those 2 GPU Z screenshots. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
VERY interesting! We have a 6870 instead of a 6850 (desktop of course)
Will probably be called the 6990m sadly
lol -

Vantage Score

Don't know how it happened though. I didn't pay attention to the GPU-Z screenshot of the original VBIOS because of the pixellation issues. It could either be a mistake, an actual 6990M, or I could have unlocked it as I reflashed it with the Dell BIOS.
I don't know if I should buy another one now from the same vendor and try my luck -
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Might as well get a 2nd, you have a crossfire cable don't you?
-
this is really interesting, if it turned out to be a "6990" with 1120 shaders instead of 960, then this means that the r2 might have a shot with a card even better that 485m...
I wonder if all ES are like this, but I doupt it since notebookcheck reviews had the ENG samples and their results were similar to the ones with 960 shaders... -
Yet the 1120 shaders aren't helping that much. I basically get the same score than him with the same frequencies with only 960 shaders.
-
What will be interesting also is once we can figure out how to OC the 2720 and the 2820QM.
-
-
Is there a way to find the GPU score on the basic vantage version or do I have to upgrade?
-
Comparison between your "960" shaders 6970m with (780/1000)clocks: http://img38.imageshack.us/f/100mhz.png/
and ichime's "1120" shaders 6970m with (775/1000)clocks: http://3dmark.com/3dmv/2963995
you can clearly see a difference of ~1400 points in GPU score... -
Under Detailed score, for your current clocks (830/1075) you have:
3DMark Score
14740.75 3DMarks
Graphics Score
13407.51
CPU Score
21007.76
On the other hand, if you notice his scores for a slightly lower clocks(825/1075) here:
http://img38.imageshack.us/f/6970mm17xr2vantagegpu82.jpg/
he has :
Graphics Score 14788 -
That is odd and explains why his scores are better than R3's that are clocked higher. I wonder if AMD intended to release a higher shader 6970M but then backed off because of TDP issues or the Dell one is just neutered? -
I would definitely buy an "ES" or whatever it's called if that's what it takes to get a hold of 1120 shaders
