if you have 2720 or 2820 you can set xmp 1, restart, override frequency to 1600 and get 1600 cas7

i don't think you can pick a profile and then override the speed because even if it works the ram would be unstable

I don't want to install vantage and want something to compare with :/

06 is to old already to test this kind of hardware even vantage is old but at least you have a better idea of the GPU power with that if you really want to compare run crysis benchmark

Why do you not want to install vantage? It is the most used benchmark right now since 06 is getting old but not every one has DX11 hardware.

Different CPU but about a 15% jump grossly over 460m?

Edit. Nope. About 25% stock. And 15% using dane's. OC data. Need a same CPU, memory reference with both gpus oc'ed as it seems 460 has more headroom thus far. Maybe when kune gets his amd...

the only way i got it to work was to install it over the dell driver, for some reason a clean install would not work.

Still figuring out why the R3s aren't seeing the benefits of the 11.4 drivers.

When I tried 850mhz core and 1100mhz memory, The computer kept shutting off in the middle of the runs even though it showed no signs of instability. It's probably because I maxxed out the TDP on the primary MXM slot.

    825/1075 worked though:

No more trial version. What a rip off for me.

    @ichime

Your scores are marginally higher then the R3 scores and if you look at the Texture fill rate between iNaps and yours you will see how much higher yours is with only a small difference in clock speeds between the 2.

Something must be a bit different between that ES card and the final product ?..

Holy frijoles Batman!!! they crippled the retail version of the card i guess..

I wonder if the final version of the Clevo card will be the same as yours ?..

Very interesting and also makes since why the texture fill rate would be higher as well..

I should have been paying closer attention when i was comparing those 2 GPU Z screenshots.

stock is 12.6k GPU (around 13.2k overall) but my card also has 1120 shaders unlocked...

Don't know how it happened though. I didn't pay attention to the GPU-Z screenshot of the original VBIOS because of the pixellation issues. It could either be a mistake, an actual 6990M, or I could have unlocked it as I reflashed it with the Dell BIOS.

I don't know if I should buy another one now from the same vendor and try my luck ;)

this is really interesting, if it turned out to be a "6990" with 1120 shaders instead of 960, then this means that the r2 might have a shot with a card even better that 485m...

I wonder if all ES are like this, but I doupt it since notebookcheck reviews had the ENG samples and their results were similar to the ones with 960 shaders...

Yet the 1120 shaders aren't helping that much. I basically get the same score than him with the same frequencies with only 960 shaders.

you don't need to upgrade to anything, just scroll down and look for Graphics score, here: Result

Under Detailed score, for your current clocks (830/1075) you have:
    3DMark Score
    14740.75 3DMarks
    Graphics Score
    13407.51
    CPU Score
    21007.76

On the other hand, if you notice his scores for a slightly lower clocks(825/1075) here:
    http://img38.imageshack.us/f/6970mm17xr2vantagegpu82.jpg/

    he has :
    Graphics Score 14788

That is odd and explains why his scores are better than R3's that are clocked higher. I wonder if AMD intended to release a higher shader 6970M but then backed off because of TDP issues or the Dell one is just neutered?

I would definitely buy an "ES" or whatever it's called if that's what it takes to get a hold of 1120 shaders :D
