here is 3dmark11, didn't have time to run 06. also i beat my last vantage, arrggghhh!!!

CPT - Nice bench! +1 Shoot for my score. Its attainable for you. I didn't push my cpu to hard. Would love to see you de throne me. Push the FSB to 5% 140 mhz. See if you can control the temp. Also do what you can to cool the psu to prevent a shutdown.
Everyone - Thanks for PMing me your scores. Keep them coming. I will update score as soon as i get the internet setup. Been surfing on my phone the last two weeks. I May try and stay late at work and update, but that is slim. Thanks for the patience. It'll take me time to backtrack, sort and organize. -
CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
here is another run, bested my personal score.
I've reflashed the cards upping V-core @1.05, and clocked both @780/1050.
CPU set @23x140Mhz 90W tdp, as you can see from the screenshot my temps were slightly better in hwinfo32 sensors reading, also it show the cpu at 92W peak, being setted at 90W tdp i got some slight throttling there.
22250 Global score
24100 Gpu score
Second on R2 Vantage score
I'll try and see if i can do better than this, but i think so, i need to reflash the cards at stock voltage (1.1) in order to rise the gpu freq. @1.05/805 it crash at the end of the 2nd gpu test (Calico)
Edit: improved screenshot -
Yea the cpu usually pulls a few more watts than the limit you set it at. Up your voltage, use 800/1050 and you can probably beat my score. I didn't get to push my system like i wanted before my bad gpu completely failed. Plus my mobo was going bad too so its headed for the depot. Not sure what they will give me. R2 or M18x. Either one would be good with me. Plus my 5870s were dead to so Im sending it back with a bad mobo and set of dead gpu's.

Closing in
nice to see almost 25k on the gpu score. Upped the voltage back at stock 1.1V, i'll give another run in a few minutes... Hope nothing blows out
22577 Global
24754 GPU
I'm sure you will beat me in no time, but meanwhile i've got the 1st place and it has been a lot of fun doing it
23448 Global
25176 GPU
If my cpu won't throttle toward the end of the 1st cpu test, the figures would be highers i guess.. The 2nd cpu test is fine btw
This things is a beast xD
Edit, added a run on 3Dmark11, got P6996i think is second place
will try to go higher later -
Great scores here...!! Now close all those monitoring programs or at least disable all the unnecessary sensors and your CPU score should be higher than 20k, even though it may throttle during the end of the 2nd test
-
Nice. I think that's the first time in over a year that I've been dethrone. Can you OC the gpu's more? How's the psu taking the abuse?
What are your gpu clocks? Can't see it from my phone and can't zoom in on the link. Only gives me a sweet option. Can you post a direct link by right clicking the full size image and click properties. The cpu the address. I just want to see the detail.
Keep pushing it -

just coming back from a little party, if i can get my room cool enaugh before my wife starts to complain becouse i'm not yet at bed, i'll try some other run, otherwise will be for tomorrow
I believe i've got the benchmark evil possession too
EDIT: some years ago i was im the watercooling with desktop, then i stopped for many reasons and now i found my self with this nice piece of hardware (about 6 years later..) I'm wondering about one thing, i know that watercooling is not an option, but what about peltier cells? at least for benching it should be worth a try i believe. they are thin.
what we need are 3 peltier cells, a high amperage external power supply (each cell need around 30 amps if i'm not mistaken). Then you should cool the hot side of the peltier, there you can adapt even a water cooling, just for the test. Also neoprene is needed to avoid condensation on the components and the board around. In this way it should be possible to sub-zero cpu & gpu's -
how did you enable the overdrive? I used the RBE to modify the vbios but then the drivers were giving me BSOD
-
I follow this thread:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-enabling-overdrive-undervolting-your-r3.html
I change all three value in Regedit / HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI\ACE\Settings\Graphics\OverDrive2 , Ovedrive3, Overdrive5 to "ALL"
Then I flash the mod Vbios in DOS using atiflash, overdrive option would show up in CCC then and you can use it, that's it!
Edit: I'm about to attach my mod bios, but I couldn't upload them here, if you need it, send me a pm -
ok thanks! I was doing that with the RBE but I was missing the registry tweak and I was fighting with the XML file all this time.... Will try it and see if the CCC will give me any BSOD
-
no probs dude, hope you got it soon
-
can't find the registry entry... damn
-
Hey slightly off topic question, anyone now if the M18x charger would fit in the R3?
-
As far as I know it is not recognized by the BIOS of the R3...
-
yeah that one can follow the main card aswell, that result I posted above, I forgot to set new clock to slave card so you saw different clock between them, but after I raise the slave clock without problem

Nice!
Awesome run man. Amazing gpu score! Your psu must love you
Edit: Vantage is great because it runs the cpu and gpu independently. 3DMark11 however brings the psu into the equation with the combined test. I would be suprised if your psu didn't shutdown during the combined test at those clocks. That said I've noticed 3Dmark11 doesn't heat up the system components as much as vantage, which is suprising. At least the cpu doesn't get as stressed in 11 as much as in vantage. Your score had me thinking. R2 could compete with the M18x if not for the psu. If we could use the psu, i would say 16:10 RGB and the build would put the R2 above the M18x. -

Get a 320watt power supply. Problem solved
-
Cpt, the psu is probably overloaded and shutdown. Same thing happens here but the entire system shuts down cuz i never leave the battery in. -
I thought there was a bypass for that?

That's the 330 watt... -
CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
afaik there is no bios compatibility for the 330w PSU, or that of the ebay link is a compatible one?
-
I figured the compatibility issue was fixed since there are modified BIOSes available for the R2
-
CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
There is only one modified bios for the R2 and one that is on progress of being modified for PSU compatibility and other stuff, those are from TheWiz. Are you aware of other modded bios?
-
Negatory. I don't have one, was just chiming in
-

. I would love to have 330W psu support

I today i have been mucking around with overclocking my 5870s but I'm having problems overclocking the second graphics card
Firstly Crossfire works perfectly never had any problems with it, but gpuz is the only program that picks up both gpu0 and gpu1
AMD gpu clock tool and AMD Overdrive in CCC dont pick up Gpu1 and hwinfo will only pick the heat sensors for gpu1 if gpuz is open.
I have tried editing the Bios with Radeon Bios Editor and flashing to higher clocks but only the gpu0 ends up getting the overclock
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could be happening? -
I had the same issues as you did last time.
A good program to use for OC of the AMD GPUs is Sapphire Technology - TriXX Tweak Utility
Install that and then change the options in the settings section to disable ULPS.
It is also helpful if you disable Enableulps in the registry.
Run regedit and then search for enableulps and change all their values from 1 to 0.
There will be quite a few instances of the enableulps so you will have to keep hitting find next and continue until all of them are changed.
Also note that you will have to do the regedit every time after a new GPU driver installation.
Restart and then you should be able to OC both GPUs.
Then this is when the fun starts!
Cheers. -
Are you flashing through ATIFlash via DOS? I never liked using software to increase clocks. I also never cared for Winflash. AS far as I know Winflash will only flash the master card. Going through DOS is the only way to be sure both cards are flashed with the new clocks.
***ATTENTION***
LEADER BOARDS HAVE BEEN UPDATED
I want to say a huge congrats to CptXabaras on his stellar Vantage Performance of 23834, and pushing the beloved M17x R2 to knew heights, during which he took my crown which was placed upon my head over a year ago
Nice work guys, keep pushing those systems!
Updates should be done more frequently once internet at home is set up (16 August 2011). I had to stay late after work to get this done, but I felt it was important for your efforts to be recognized and for CptXabaras to get his day in the sun. Keep it up!
Final Thoughts: Unfortunately not all scores PMed to me made the cut. This is entirely my fault for not being able to update as much as I wanted and for those who didn't make the list I appologize. As you know life took over (Wedding, out of state move, quiting two jobs, starting a new job, all in a weeks time) Things have started to settle down a bit. Now keep pushing your systems and I will get those scores on the appropriate list!! Now quite reading and get your bench on!

wow! thanks
forgot to update the 3d place in 11 also
i only i could keep my cpu temp at bay.. thinking about my coleman camping freezer.. what if i fill it up with ice and than put the lap just a little above it? May i encounter condensation problems?
Edit: i cannot rep you yet DR -
Good catch. I just updated it from my phone. PITA, but i want it to be accurate. No worries on the rep.
I can't rep you either.
Also, I like your avatar. Sheldon had it on his shirt on an episode of the Big Bang Theory.
In a week I lost my triple crownlol

yep, i love tbbt series and Sheldon is my hero lol!

Had and epiphany this morning: I have to edit and flash both the bios's, I assumed that winflash was doing both
So overdrive is working for both cards and I can overclock via the bios as well
Winflash can flash both master and slave, is it better to go though atiflash and dos? I never tried but it seems complicated?
In my first proper overclock attempt here is what I got
3dmark06
3dmark vantage
3dmark11 -
Try increasing your Mem clock more. Try maybe 1250.
My best clocks I managed last time were around 890 core and 1290 mem.
Good Job for your 1st OC runs though!
Cheers. -
lol
Nice job on the benchmarks though! -
My epiphany was that i wasn't flashing both gpu's, which in most parts of the universe is needed, to be able to overclock both gpu's
Is there a thorough guide to to flashing in dos as I'm still a but unsure of it
Thanks for the help -

Hey, for those of you with R3's, what all are you tweaking besides the GPU and CPU clocks? I have a 6990 which I have overclocked fairly high (to 835/1150 or so) and a 2720 (overclocked 4% or whatever the BIOS will let me) and my scores are good, but there's still a big gap between me and posted scores using similar GPU clocks. Is there something I'm missing?
BTW, my best is currently about 4050 in 3DMark11 and about 15800 in Vantage.
I don't really care about competing for benchmarks, I'm just stress-testing my new machine and would like to make sure everything is operating normally.
Thanks. -
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
My guess would be 2 things, the top guys on the leader boards are running 2820qm's and while there isn't a huge difference a 2820qm at 107+ bclk will rock most 2720qm's even at high oc's. The other thing you're probably missing is tweaking the settings in CCC.

Hey all, I just got some replacement 5870's from Dell. For some reason, these cards just don't seem to want to overclock at all! I can't seem to get a stable clock to run anything over stock. I've tried a mild overclock of 825 / 1100 at 1.10 V but no luck. Anytime that I try to run Vantage the screen will go black after about 15 seconds into it and it will not recover (stays black until I reboot). I've tried about 5 different clocks ranging from 900 / 1250 @ 1.15V to 800 / 1050 @ stock voltage with the same results. The cards run flawlessly at stock clocks and voltages too! Any ideas why I can't seem to get anywhere or do I just have a bad bunch of OCing cards?
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah the biggest boost I've seen on any bench by tweaking CCC is in 3D Mark11 by turning the tesselation to off, I got probably a 10% score boost by doing that one thing. The rest is up to you my friend
-
Im done with overclock etc for a while now... or at least until my 6990s come through
Any way this is what i ended up with on CCC 11.8 and 1.1v and 90w TDP and 80a TDC on the cpu
3dmark 06 21500
vantage
3dmark 11 p5330
Out of interest my 920xm (es) is a bit different on stock settings it has 62w TDP and 24x multi on all 4 cores!, does any one else have different setting? -
