Not on my side :D for now I can't go further with my 2820qm. I should order a 2920xm to keep playing with you guys.

    18.2 K on 3dmark vantage
    22.3 K on '06
    4615 on '11.

Anyone tried Shirley's ES cpu (the tdp is @ 45W and not 55) Otherwise I'll grab it from laptop monkey. Any other solution ?

Yup the have disk method.
You remember Jubbing :p when you go into device manager and click on the GPUs to update the drivers. You choose the have disk method from in there and then manually choose a driver location to install GPU drivers.

    Cheers. :)

Heh, I knew it sounded familiar.. being as that was what I was trying to do :p

All good now, thanks to Joker got it working. Seems that 1 driver was stopping the other driver from working (or something) and that resulted in it not being able to detect the new drivers. Still, all good now.

Good news is that in MW3, single player I used to have 35-45 fps, and now I have 70 - 90! What a HUGE boost... I've been missing out :D

Christ, according to Guru3D.com, a desktop GTX 480 at stock only hits 17.5k for the GPU...

Your mobile overclocked GPU is faster than a stock desktop GTX 480. Now THAT is impressive! :D

The thing is, the M17x R2 has increased multipliers up to 25x on all cores however the TDP/TDC is still on 62/62 so you need throttlestop to crank those higher.

Open up throtlestop, click TPL and set it to 90/80 maybe. Been a long time since I worked with 1st Gen i7's. Play around, you can also change the multipliers through TRL.

Also depends on heat how far you can OC the CPU. If your heatsink is poorly seated you won't be able to increase the TDP as far.

Plus your score is low because everyone who submits scores to futuremark submits overclocked scores. And the little bit between your score and the and the target score is negligible.

They will be if Dell releases a bios for it - Intel said Ivy bridge will be backwards compatible with a bios update. :p

Kinda doubt it because Dell would rather just make an M17x R4 for more $$$

Also you can get 2920xm qs for ~ 398 pound / 2960xm oem for 628 pound; got my 2860qm oem for 381 pound

It used to be £398 a few days ago from laptopmonkey. Either submit a best offer or just PM him on eBay, he won't bite :p

I went for a 2860QM OEM from some pc-best-guy in Taiwan, great service and haggled down £60, worth submitting an offer, etc

Ivy Bridge btw has been confirmed for March with an Intel Employee/Rep whom I met about 10 days ago. And then confirmed by a Asus Rep whom I also met the day after. They said it might not be compatible with older devices than 1 year but depends on the Manufacturer (Dell, HP, etc). (Can't say who though.. Techin5 secrets ;) )

As for testing.. just when I thought I was about to rock out a good score the whole computer froze up. Trial run on stock settings rocked on 16k or something. This was with a portable aircon blowing air right into the fans, the battery out, and the house aircon turned on as well. Sad part was that the OC figures were lower than last time when I hit 19k last year. Guess ol' beasty isn't faring as well as it used to :(

So if i understand right, waiting for ivy bridge isn't a good idea for now. I should concentrate on Sandy bridge xm cpu's.

Tested different benchies with 4/8/16 Go not even a point of difference.
You computer is working fine, BF3 is THE problem. I keep playing sevenral hours before the patch, and now I can't play anymore :(
