The only xm you can find on ebay are final version (£488 laptop monkey).

Maybe we can directly ask to chinese sellers but minimum order is 10 cpu.
Will look at 2720 Slickdude, why didn't i order from Shirley before :(

The 580m gtx is such a monster :)

    I have half a mind to offer 1 dollar, then 2 then 3.. :D

And the 8 beep code is not cpu. It's 3. the 8 beep code has something to do with the board or the second monitor cable.(95 percent of the time) From what me and Sam found out.

I think that guy was a member here but got banned because he got angry at BatBoy, no other reason. I think it's legit make an offer. But really, why the need? The 6990m is a great card. Just hold off for like 3 months and you may get the chance at a 7000m series. I'm certainly waiting for the 4GB 680m GTX :D

nah I dont know. I'm just tempted I guess. I got my eye on the GTX 580M for awhile but it was a bit above my price range and the throttle issues. Its like that forbidden fruit you are not sure whether you need or not but you want it because it was out of your reach. Also although I got used to the AMD site of thing now but I still miss the smoothness of nvidia drivers.

But yeah I'm keeping my hope up on the next generations too.

P.S: you may need to do some benching again ;)

862? That's ridiculously high for a 6990. The dell 6990's are the opposite, slightly lower gpu mhz but much better ram. I'll post a vantage 830/1250 run later

It's actually stable on that, but any higher -> 870+ I get artifacts.

Memory just can't be pushed higher than 1062 due to Samsung memory ¬_¬

Tesselation is also AMD optimised, and I can't submit online cause I used a key that's well um... Lol

Hello guys, I don't think I'm allowed to put my specs in my sig. yet.My 2960 is about low 60's and I run 42x4 85/56 disable Turbo short powermax.my 6990 is also in low 60's after a Vantage run. Idle Cpu mid -upper 40's Gpu idle mid-upper 50's. I got 16x1600 Ram. I noticed I can jack the Cpu up more in 3DMark 06. I have PPCL set at 848 and C7 enabled.

Low 60's?! Are you reading the max temps or the current temps after the test runs? I find it hard to believe that your CPU is so cool. Perhaps you are reading it wrong? What you using to monitor?

Check here for the details: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2860QM Processor,Alienware M17xR3 score: P18737 3DMarks.

Excellent score that would qualify for the Vantage leaderboard, but you need to include screenshots of GPU-Z and CPU-Z verifying the components and settings along with the benchmark score itself. See Post #2 of this thread.

Yeah I will PM DR560SE to include my name but not yet!! I see that you have a score of 18870. Gonna try and beat that. :p

Any tips to increase my cpu and gpu score?
By bus clock is at 10398. Anything more and it crashes. My RAM is overvolted to 1.6V running at 1600Mhz in BIOS but AIDA64 says it is only 1378Mhz. I don't understand the logic!

First of all, you don't need your ram at 1.6v. It's pointless. It has nothing to do with speed. Plus what kind of ram are you running? PnP or blues? If XMP/Blues then you need to set your bios to XMP Profile 2. Also why beat 18870 when you can aim to beat 20226?

And if you have PnP you could try lowering your timing -> check RAM thread

Plus with unlimited turbo working, with 10019 should get 227xx + for CPU -> check widezu's sig

GeoCake, that is a weird CPU-Z readout. On the name line, it says you have a 2920XM (and CPU-Z uses the black Intel logo indicating an extreme CPU), but then the spec line reports a 2860QM, consistent with your sig block. WTH? Is your CPU unlocked?

It's a bug in CPU-Z, I googled it around and for some reason it reports that for other people too :/

Tis an OEM 2860QM with locked multipliers

I have 1333Mhz samsung ram. The stock ones. 8gb. Changing XMP profile to anything else crashes the system. Any way to optimize the stock RAM?

Well I wasn't sure I can breach 20k but now that you have said this, I am sure gonna try! :D

I am patiently waiting for 2133Mhz.

@The revelator- even my 2860qm is shown as 2920xm in cpu-z.

2860qm can match the 2920xm to a large extent even though it is only 45W as compared to 55W of 2920. So hell yeah, it is a great chip!

Alright!! What is your next laptop gonna be?? 3960xm, dual 680m and 2133mhz 16gb with dual 512gb ssds!!

Guys help me out here a bit!!

Whenever I try to autotune using iXTU, i get an error saying, autotune session failed due to thermal throttling during stress tests.

I have tried a lot of things. Repaste, using cryo lx, forcing fans at full speed using hwinfo..

    Nothing seems to help.

So please help me adjust the manual tuning -> all controls. What settings should I use??

And your basically wasting time here. just set it to like 104 blck and run with it. It;s pretty useless to auto-tune a non extreme cpu.
    Ummm, no it can't. :D
