@pmassy, Nice score I updated it on the leaderboards.
@Jubbbing - Welcome back, sorry I've been out of touch, been massive swamped, new job, military, moved to a new apt, blah blah blah. Also , you need to try out the 11.4 drivers. With your clocks, you can kill your old score and take that #2 spot.
@ALL I changed the formatting of the leaderboards slightly. Let me know what you think. Also, let me know where you want me to take this, as in tracking scores, format ect. Always looking for input, as I would like to see a lot of activity in this threadLet me know what you would want as catagories, just keep in mind I do this in my free time.

thanks for the run dane. something wierd is going on with my 06 runs too. my scores are getting lower the higher i push the clocks for some reason. thought is was throttling but can't seem to find anything in the logs that would show it.

Yeah my scores dropped a few hundred points every time I tried going over those clocks as well. I'm gonna have to mess with the drivers and CCC tonight to see whats going on. I think the biggest thing holding me back is my CPU, it won't overclock at all, if I try to go higher than 100.20 in the BIOS it won't boot and just throws constant bsods on top of being just a 2630. Can anyone look in their bios at the main page and see what it says next to "Sandy Bridge Version..." mine says QS, I hope that's something else and that Dell didn't send my original rig with a friggin QS version CPU.
-
ok thanks guys, thought i was the only one having this problem. haven't touch any of the oc settings yet, but will look into it.

CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
Did some bench today with the new cpu, on sign the scores for 06, 11 and vantage
-
@DR Let me know when you're ready, post me a pm.
As for drivers, my computer is being a pain in the with new drivers, I tried last month, and it screwed up so badly I had to restore my computer, which sucked. Not sure what the problem is quite. -
so...which card seems to be the new king of cards 6970 or the 485.
-
-
hummmmm...then that's considered even.
and this goes for sli/crossfire and single vs single?
side note.
to bad they aren't making any more of these....if they were...i would bench mobile gpus on a more serious level...
-
That thing is awesome, how would I go about getting one... heads to ebay...
-
hey DR. that's for the first gen mxm cards. not for nothing new. and msi quit making them.
-
Ahh, still be fun to use though. John, did you see this? I've had higher scores, but helped out quite a bit.
Currently in the hunt for a P5Q Series board. Got a few pentium 4 desktop chips to bench. Just gotta get things together. Oh, and my Koolance V2 dice pot came in yesterday
-
i have a f1 gemini and a tek 9 slim gpu pot as well.
hummmm, sounds like your getting a bit more serious about this stuff? -

@John, I meant page 22. Not sure whats going on with my links. I also have to update all the scores on page one. Got quite a bit to update.
Katalin, Thats wierd because when I click them, they all go to where I want. Maybe "condenseit.com" was down -

So I am thinking about selling my M17x R1 and desktop and getting a loaded M18x next month, thoughts?
I seem to have no excitement to overclock and bench my desktop and already have done all my M17x is going to do haha
I need a new toy..... -
Sell the gpu's to me. Ill put dice on them.
I do.t know about selling the desktop, Don't know how you is it, or what you'd get from it, but a loaded 18x would be pretty slick. If i had the money.

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I am trying to sell it as a full desktop, parting out would be a lot more trouble - especially since the waterloop is already in place. I am really hoping I find some buyers....
Want a really strong desktop DR? lol
It has good specs

-No overvolt possibility for the 6970.
-And weak GPUs on the nVIDIA side. -
a 485m and a 6900m is pretty damn strong right now.
side note...if your talking about desktop gpus...then im going to have to say...your quite a bit off.... -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
If they weren't weaker (not enough gap between the 280m/285m and the 460m to make the upgrade worth it), It wouldn't have crossed my mind.
And as for overvolting the mobile ATIs, I think you should do more research, the not so old 4870 and 5870 were able to stand a decent raise while the R3 6970 owners stated that ANY voltage raise is not accepted .
And the 485m from Dell is not an option as of today. -
what people are doing is unlocking voltage that was hidden. not going in and over volting it from it's original max voltage.
you statement was about gpu's not the machines they are in.
side note:
all your doing is putting the right voltage in. your not over volting anything. when you get up to 1.16V and higher....then your over volting. -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
My statement was actually a reply to scook's post (selling the R1 and going for the M18x) so I thought it was pretty obvious I was referring to the next alienware dual GPU release.
We both share the same opinion, it's just that I referred to upping the GPU's voltage to the next available option as 'overvolting' ,sorry if that bothered you, hope it's clear now as I don't want to rephrase my post and further derail this thread. -
does not bother me. just pointing it out.
to many people get that wrong. your just setting the voltage to where it should have been, but they turn it down so people like us dont go burning holes in these 700 dollar gpus.
ps, just because it doesn't say it comes with it... doesn't mean someone around here wont give it a try(485M or the nex gen gpu) -
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
Yeah, it was "supported" by the R3 so I'm pretty confident that there's that tech. who always thinks of us and leaves the aftermarket upgrades door open if you get what I mean
-
tis is true.

Yes really, that's legit. And dice is the answer, I had to drop the temps on this quite a bit to squeeze that run out of it as my rig has a refurb'd card in it that wasn't reworked quite as well as it should have been.

Not bad, I actually had my GPU hit -35 C while waiting for it to cool to make that run
Dice is definitely awesome, just wish the gpu/cpu were top mounted in the R3 like they are in the R2 as it would make it quite a bit easier lol, have to run on an external to run DICE in the R3. Definitely makes the odds of running a dice or ln2 pot slim to none with the R3 lol.
-
Yea, it does, Have you cold bugged your CPU yet? Yesterday I've noticed if I get the CPU too cold, the fans kick on in high gear, and after a certain temp, not sure what temp that is since nothing reads that low, the system will shut of. Kinda fun,
I did some 920XM runs yesterday on my dice pot. For some reason two of the cores would heat up, but the other two wouldn't as much, I'll check it out more today, but it did allow me to complete a wPrime 1024 run at 4GHz, I'll get the pic up here shortly -
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
No I haven't been dicing my cpu, there's no point as it doesn't break 60's in benching and I can't OC much. The only way to OC the cpu in the R3 is in the bios and it refuses to boot if I try to go above 100.20 with dice or not so no point IMO. I'm seriously contemplating selling one of my ssd's to pick up either a 2820qm or 2920xm to see if I can get some more OC room, with the numbers being thrown especially in 06 I don't think I can stay on top for long without something stronger than a 2630qm or a ton of OC room on the cpu.
The one thing that has surprised me is how easy it is to rip through multiple pounds of dice, shoot I think I went through like 4 pounds just on my gpu last night lol. Starting to get funny looks at the grocery store -
Haha, yea I bought 12 lbs yesterday and have been using it in my dice pot. Goes quick. I hate when I throw in some dice, and then it crashes, and I wasted taht dice
lol. but in the dice pot I think it goes quicker. You have to fill the bottom with Acetone so it spreads the cold, and break the dice into smaller chunks. It's how I got this.

Dang!!! Nice run! I've been thinking about heading over to HWBot to start doing some runs over there as I now have my R3 and still have both the 460m and 6970m until they get me my new rig, a XPS 14, and a desktop. My laptop scores may be semi-competitive over there but my desktop ain't gonna happen lol.
-
lol, yea I've been putting my scores up there for a while. I also joined OC Forums team since I spend some time over at overclockers.com on the forums. I'm trying to get a desktop board at the moment so I an bench a few CPUs on DICE. Dice is more effective there since I can increase the voltage plenty on a desktop board.
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah the desktop has been fun, I have a 920 rig right now but can't seem to push past the 3.4ghz line as my current mobo doesn't have a fully unlocked bios that will allow multiplier or voltage adjustments
That and the ram doesn't really like me much as 3.4ghz on just FSB jacks the ram sky high lol.

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
My 965 has been sitting at 4.123 GHz for a few days now with no changes but a bump in voltage and the multi. Should be able to do 4.5 pretty stable with some tweaking (maybe more, have not tried). The Asus ROG board has a wide open BIOS for the more initiated
-
Talk about fail.. my laptop refuses to upgrade to the lasest drivers.. and my laptop bsod's when trying to OC LOL.
-
hummmm, making me want to put my ln2 pot mine and give her a go....but it's allot of work with a g73.....wish it was top side as well...
and as for sandy bridge...it doesnt like bclk'ing very much.... -

I7 920xm (ES)
wPrime 32M @ 4.002MHz: 6.275 sec
wPrime 1024M @ 4002.3 MHz: 192.72 sec
For some reason two cores remained at low temps, and the other two went as high as 44*C. Maybe I'll mess with it later. Cant get the mobile chips as cold as desktop chips because the cold bug real easy. At Idle, throttle stop would read as low as -20*C, though I'm sure the chips temps were even lower. Maybe the pot wasn't sitting quite right. But it's made for a desktop mobo, so I couldn't bolt it down.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

Nice run man, about the same speeds in WPrime as my desktop 920 FSB OC'ed with stock coolers and voltages. It's amazing what these mobile chips are capable of when worked right.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I wonder what my desktop can do, maybe I will run wPrime tonight on it. Just have the multi bumped to 4.123 but been there for days no problems so far (and all 12GB working great at DDR3-1600
)
My 965 @ 4.1 should be close to the performance of your 940 @4 as the architectures are VERY similar (just difference in memory bandwidth really) -
Nice, thanks. Yea, Speedy said my Vantage CPU score of 23K was the same as his i7 960, OCed to 4GHz. I ran Vantage CPU yesterday on the 920XM and had a score of 23.7K but it crashed as I was taking the screen shot
This is my highest screen shot.
CPU SCORE: 23382

This is what im getting. I think the GPU is a bit low, any idea what im doing wrong ? First time owning an item worth benchmarking.
Edit, also when im using the 6970 even without games it gets really hot and I hear a lot of fan noise.
