Here's my latest quick 3DMark11 run with my R3:



Never gonna touch the numbers DR650 is throwing but hey it's a decent start for an R3

 

Dane, Nice run, I do like those SB cpus. Score was updated on the leaderboards.

 

Nice score, still I can't get above 15,000. Wonder how Inap got to it. Did he do the run in a freezer?

 

Isn't he the guy with like 15% more stream processors on his 6970M ES?

 

DR650- Thanks man, I think I'm gonna have a heck of a few weeks though as I've got some ground to gain, with Inap sitting barely ahead of me on Vantage and Joker running a 4100 on 3DMark11 I've got some roasting to do

Joebar- Thanks, he hasn't run any additional cooling yet although I'm sure that's coming, my card isn't even that amazing as it seems to be a subpar refurb and I'm knocking on 15k in vantage with a 2630. With your 2820, some patience, and a good repaste you should be able to hit 15k with no problems.

Kune-No that's ichime and he has a Clevo ES card that ended up being the good kind of fluke lol.

the 15k run was done on my cm storm cooler. haven't used ac cooling yet since these 6970 runs pretty cool in the r3.

I'm guess the ATI 6970 gets some high scores...how does it compare to a high end ATI desktop card?

 

6970m=downclocked desktop 6850 I believe

 

another vantage run from me. prolly start benching on ac soon. thinking of using dry ice, on top of an ac unit, inside of a commercial freezer.

yeah i think additional cooling would help increase the score, would be nice if we can change the voltage too but oh well.

sorry dr but did another 3dmark11 run, best yet. changing my wallpaper netted me another 200 points, hehehe

 

Wow your core is a lot stronger than the one in my current rig, anything over about 850 and I start having major issues even though the temps are still just fine. Hopefully my new rig will have a stronger card in it since it won't be a refurb.

 

yeah today was the first time i've tried going past 850 core. but i had to drop the memory down though for it to be able that high on the core.

 

I can vouch for the ease of use and effectiveness of a chest freezer haha, cant go subzero (f) though unless using DICE

 

no chest freezer yet. got bored and since there were no 06 benches, i decided to gave it a go.

I was never really into benching before, but forum e-watching you all is making me want to jump into the game!

 

haha yeah i only started benching last year. it get really addicting once you get a hang of it. i think i put more hours into benching then i do playing games this week.

 

Yea, it's defiantely addicting. To me, benching is a game, how far can you go? One of the reasons I have a DICE pot on the way, and in the hunt for a MOBO and some cheap CPUs.

Is there currently anyway to OC that CPU? Probably not the same Clock Gen (PLL AsusG73) on that main board That the M15x/17x R2 use.

 

Running 5% CPU OC using modded A10 BIOS. This perked things up a bit.

 

I am still waiting for some 1GHz 6970m runs.....

haha yeah 1ghz core is gonna be real tough or impossible. maybe with better drivers and extreme cooling. but for now the highest i can push is 880 which is pretty impressive already.

More voltage will be needed before we are going to see 1 GHz I think

 

too bad there is no way to up the voltage atm. i tried running 915/1200 on vantage but it crashes on the physics test for some reason. gave me some kind of affinity error. anyone knows what could be causing this.

 

Try locking the affinity for the ATI driver to a certain core(s)?

got pass both graphics test and thought the cpu test would be cake but it failed. dang was a really awesome run. trying now with 910/1200 wish me luck.

 

Just for informations sake....run just the gpu tests so it generates a GPU score for us?

Is it not possible to reflash that vbios like the 4870's or 5870s? That kinda sucks. Anyhow, throw some dice on that puppy! hahaha. That may get you up to 1GHz, who knows?

 

whats the most stable overclock i can do with a gtx 460 with msi afterburner?

 

You can flash to change clocks but you can't change the voltage at all. So where did you order your dice pot?

Well we can easily look at the sub scores and know right away that the overall score was bogus

At least the experienced benchers will. Easiest way is to just ask for a futuremark ORB link

I can but it's not gonna be that great as my card is a refurb that doesn't like anything over 830 core and I only have a 2630qm in the current rig til the replacement lands.
