I am always benching against myself, it is just nice to know I am #1 while doing so(for now....those dam i7 cpus are going to put a hurt on us core 2 quad people I think)

Ehh not the qx9300's unless we clock way up
I'll prolly try a es if I sell the mac then overclock 2 cores and have a 4.0 ghz dual hyperthreading ....
IMO best way to go -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
you confused me also.
my 06 scores are 14,600 with my cpu at 2.93ghz -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
ya I am hoping the limited overclock will sort of knee cap the i7 owners (sorry guys, but I am too poor to join you all so I have to fend for my benchmarks where I can)
-
It's not that limited when you only overclock it in dual mode
for gpu score which is all I care about -
also...if you post picks for vantage or any 3dmark software run...it should look like this with a link to the orb validation..
nice looking scores scook.
edit.
just bench 2001. then the amount of cores wont matter much over 2 cores.
it probably works for 06 as well...(speculation of course)
-
-
yes.
time to show just what happens with what memory is used and if over clocking it really works or not.
in the dt world..this is crucial to allot of high over clocks. pretty sure it works in the laptop world as well.
edit:
i figure...in the next 6 months...this benchmarking will expand into far more than just running a 3d/vantage and a few games.(speculation of course)
as they get more and more poweful...the need to see just how far behind desktop models becomes more apparent...might as well start now.( POO=personal opinion only) -
Then you have to consider voltage which is not on there.
-
How about HWinfo? It's sort of an all-in-one solution. Maybe we can get BatBoy to link it in the OP.

and cheaper. Thanks!

Damn- well, until I somehow manage to get a pair of ATI's over here in Deutschland, I'm out of the top 5 for sure with the 280's....they just can't match up in the synthetics.
Oh well- Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, and watching you all should be entertainment enough until I can get back in the game. -
voltage is on there.. cpu voltage.
but i do like the hwinfo better...it didn't work with some of the things i was doing...that is why i quit using it for a while.
say, and i brought that program to these forums back in 2008...lol -
Hey be nice to link all the game benchmarks over I found
-
good call moo

-
They are on the op of the first thread, I'm on the iPhone now so it's a huge pain

Just a heads up, HWInfo will not replace everest for temps, it cant read the ATI cards and always crashes when detecting their temp sensors
-
and in reality...the voltage isn't so much important, until you start dropping the timings super low (example: 7-7-7-24 to 5-5-5-15) (1066 over clocked to 1200 - 1333 and up) (speculation on the 1200mhz part)
but when you start benching the ram...you can see what is what to know and understand this for sure.

damn, my memory stinks...lol

ram is a HUGE bottleneck for CPU performance....that is one of the key things I learned in my computer engineering class haha
I would expect everybit you can get out of the ram to be a plus for performance -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
scook we have to try to enable this to beat everyone
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
what is that screen?!
(can't see that once it is ATI time lol)
And yes, I of course have long desired the ability to raise my voltage on the CPU -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
it's in nst but the bios locks outt this feature i believe.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I was joking Don...wow
Lol
You cannot access NST once you have the ATI cards installed to the best of my knowledge -

Thread is running smooth drake

It's still early

In a few minutes I got a new record for CPU and overall in Vantage
Have to go shovel snow off a car first though lol -
We'll be waiting. What's the current CPU Vantage high anyway?

you aren't playing scook. But I'm not going to hold back either.
-
If you're that close go for 14K across.
-
Already updated, congrats! It's your turn don.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well of course I am going for 14k across
I want your gpu score though mandrake! -
It's ripe for the taking.

my cpu is holding me back.

Scook's on fire.
By the way, I am impressed by this overclocking trend that I am seeing amongst the ATi benchmarkers. You guys can really push the clocks, especially memory, to insane levels, and that's a steep climb from stock settings. I don't see Nvidia users managing frequencies around the 1100 mark for memory, until and unless I have missed something.
Just one question for Scook. Was the 1130 pulled off under normal room temperature and conditions? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
mooo pulled some high memory with his gpu.
I hit 1080. If it was cooler I may could of bring that up more. -
Kade Storm The Devil's Advocate
That's why I am curious. You know, did Scook hit 1130 under similar conditions, or do all users--ATi and Nvidia--have to meet special 'outdoor conditions' in order to hit such an overclock.
1080 is also very impressive. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I'm noot going outside. Lol. I may however sit my computer computer outside and buy a wireless mouse and watch from the window. Lol.
-
shoveling snow off his car I think was a hint. lol
-
Kade Storm The Devil's Advocate
So, indoors, under normal conditions, would 1100 work for general long-term use? -
No. Under normal conditions you would start seeing artifacts as the heat builds up.
-
i thought about that one day. and now that bluetooth works at 333 feet.
that wouldn't be such a bad idea, but you would have to go out and push the power button on a failed run....lol -
You know hoe they have ILO for HP servers and DRAC for Dell servers....how about for laptops!!! lol
-
i havent used that yet...does it allow you to turn on and off a system or go into the bios remotely?
