is 13276 a good 3dmark 06 score for my setup?
I7 820
1x5870
1x500hdd 7200
4gig ram
windows 7
This was done on the default that 3dmark 06 does. I just downloaded for free

no, that is low, I did better with a single 4870 and my qx9300

thats vantage though
-
still low...
i got 13,600 with a single 9800m gtx in 3dmark06 -
you have an extreme processor I do not that will make a differance.
-
well nothing was overclocked just stock driver is the 8.69 one what do you think could be wrong?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That sure is vantage! My bad! Let me get the 06 one lol

People tend to compare the 820qm and qx9300 when at stock speeds. It is true my qx9300 is overclocked, but you can also overclock your 820qm using setfsb -
I'm new to this benchmarking stuff too. Having a look around here at all your lovely pics has inspired me lol.
However wait till you see my woeful scores eheheeh. Although I am running on an R1 with modest specs i suppose.
I scored like 2000 something in 3dmark 06 the 1st time LOL and like 8000 something in Vantage.
Will try and post some pics up soon if I can get some better scores ehehehhe. -
Can you give a link to where it gives you information on how to do that?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Even though it says 920xm/940xm it works on non extreme models as well.

DR650e and Cleverpseudonym have used it extensively to push dual core cpus -
I also seem to notice in Vantage that i get a decent CPU score of over 25k each time however the GPU score is just woeful below 9000 each time.
-
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
You get a DECENT score of 25K CPU in Vantage? That's not decent, that is insane. Screenshot please?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
It must be due to an nvidia gpu with physx enabled
That can't be one of these laptop cpus.... -
When both cores of a Core i7-620M are fully loaded, the maximum multiplier is 23. You can get a maximum 25 multiplier but that only happens when one core is in the active state and the other core is inactive in the C3/C6 sleep state. That's how Intel has designed these things.
When RealTemp reports a multiplier of 22.6 when both cores are fully loaded, that's a sign of turbo throttling. When you reach or exceed the turbo TDP/TDC limit for the CPU, turbo boost will start to rapidly cycle on and off hundreds of times a second which will reduce the average multiplier and total speed your CPU is running at.
With the i7-620M, try right clicking on ThrottleStop and you should be able to increase the TDP/TDC limit so you can maintain full turbo boost when fully loaded without any turbo throttling. For maximum performance, increase TDP/TDC as much as necessary to keep the average multiplier at 23 across all 4 threads when the CPU is fully loaded. A ThrottleStop log file should report this very accurately. The Extreme 920XM/940XM support adjustable TDP/TDC but I'm pretty sure the i7-620M supports this feature too. If the adjusters in ThrottleStop are locked then your CPU does not support this feature.
RealTemp 3.59.4
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/3/1794507/RealTempBeta.zip -
Yes the i7-620M does support it, and setting ThrottleStop's TDP setting to 30 gets rid of the Turbo throttling I had.
Edit:
I have ThrottleStop set to run at startup, and it's been great.
I just noticed something. I think that I was wrong about the TDP settings being persistent. It must have only lasted until a reboot, and then it had to be entered into the new version of ThrottleStop again (I found this odd since I recalled seeing my 30W TDP in the newer version, but that must have only been a reading, and not actually forcing it). -
that tdp stuff didn't work on this insyde h20 bios....if you have a newer version...ill give that a shot.
edit:
yeah, the new one didn't work either -
Yeh its a M17x R1 Q9000 CPU with GTX SLi 260s
I wonder if i can get the GPU scores a little higher though eheheheh. 3d Mark score though is just pure woeful eheheheh.Attached Files:

johnksss: Can you explain "doesn't work". Can you adjust TDP/TDC using ThrottleStop or are the adjusters in ThrottleStop locked? If they are locked then I would assume that the bios in the Gateway has these locked. The i7-620M supports adjustable TDP/TDC but if the bios blocks this feature then there's nothing I'll be able to do to fix that.
Sirhcz0r: I'll add some more code to ThrottleStop to make sure the TDP/TDC setting is restored every time you start this program. It is supposed to be restored each time you start ThrottleStop. I'm not yet sure if the bios is adjusting this on the fly. Thanks for the offer for some more rep.
reborn2003: It would be a good idea to run a ThrottleStop log file while you are benching to make sure that your CPU is not throttling. -
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
I'm officially confused. Scook's QX9300 at ~4Ghz only scores 15,691. How is your Q9000 scoring 25k?
-
I'm confused to eheheh. I've seen a few other scores here with extreme CPUs and other super CPUs but they score like 18k or so. No idea whats going on here eheheeheh. Must be that physX thing Scook was talking about earlier.
-
I might see if I can get it higher later with some OCing and turning off my DLs and all the other stuff I'm running in the background atm as well.
-
TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
It's funny, because your CPU score on the first test is not that great. But on the 2nd test you get nearly quadruple what my 920XM gets using Throttlestop. There's obviously some kind of glitch.
-
eheheh yeh its quite odd indeed. My 1st try was using the new dell nvidia drivers. They were woeful for performance so I went back to Nvidia's 258.96 WHQL. They seem to be doing better.
However yeh still amazed by my CPU scores atm lol. A shockingly old Q9000 playing and mixing it up with the Core series and extreme processors ehahahahah LOL. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
It is not mixing it up with the extreme cpus.....go to options and disable PPU....you should get about 9000 then - where you should be (on offense) lol
The nvidia gpus are handling the physx calculations during the 2nd cpu test and artifically boosting the CPU score. For a comparable bench, disable PPU and then you can compare to the scores posted here. And don't feel like you are getting jipped, everyone who is competitive benches vantage with thPPU disabled even if they are benching nvidia gpus -
this bios is just as bad as the bios on the clevos.
-
Ohs ehahahah trues trues I see. Thanks for the heads up Scook. Also thanks for the info about the blu ray drive.
eeheh yeh I thought the Nvidia GFX were helping me cheat lol ehahahaha. Anyway to get my GPU scores up on 3dmark or Vantage. They are really super LOW lol. Cheers!!! -
Has anyone installed the latest BETA drivers? If so... what driver version does your GPU-Z show?
-
PPU disabled. NOooooooooooo my super powers are gone. I am no longer super human eheheheh lol.
Doing a few other random benchies eheheh.
Any other cool benchmarks apart from 3d mark 06 and Vantage I can try???
Cheers.Attached Files:

Dang 260M SLi is pretty weak. A single 4870 matches it.

Hi uncleweb,
Here are the pics.Attached Files:

hey joker..did you ever over clock your clevo when you had it?
-
Nope, kept it at stock. I may have OC'd the GPU for a single vantage run but that's about it. -
so that means the cpu is over clock able?
-
Not when I had it, there's no OC options in the 8690 bios. I thought you were talking about the GPU. -
lol..figured that was a given and was sure you over clocked that already.
time for the gateway to find another home. i need a i7 machine that over clocks the cpu now. cant see grabbing one of these just yet though. maybe the m11x i7 version though. -
I don't think any of the clevo's have bios overclocking, at least not the one's based on i7. Your best bet is either Asus or Alienware.
-
exactly what i was thinking....there are a few other contenders...but they are in the Europe markets.
even sony has a few that can be over clocked. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Around 11.5k GPU should be the extreme limit of what the GTX 260m SLI can do. I would expect more around high 10k maybe low 11k though from most people
-
As far as the turbo throttling goes, this is what I get a lot with the 920XM as well. Might be the Turbo, and also temps as well. But as far as increasing the TDP, I can do so with the i5 520M CPU in the M17xR2
This works for me as long as you save your configuriation. I had TDP/TDC and multipliers set and saved for benching, and if I opened it up, it would implement the saved changes, so all I needed to do was open and close the program. -
My mate just told me about this benchmark. I thought it was pretty cool to give it a test. Quite taxing it was on my system.
FINAL FANTASY XIV Official Benchmark
I've never played any Final Fantasy games before but the benchmark looks pretty neat.
As you can see my results are well short of the 8000 and above super rated scores as shown on the web page link.
LOW setting test run on the left and HIGH setting pic on the right.
I would be interested to see other peeps scores and how ATI cards and the R2 systems run this benchmark. Cheers.
I wonder if anyone can get close to 8000 or even OVER it ehehehehh!!!

i can do that!
...just not with this laptop...

Trust me, a 8000 score computer doesn't exist, it runs in windowed mode so I'm thinking that it's just defaulting to 1 GPU because of that. 5970's only manage 5K on overclocked setups.
-
yep, pretty much so lozz
-
I just thought of something, why not try changing the .exe name to say, 3Dmark06? The Driver might force CF that way.
should be inFFXIVBenchmark\data\
Rename FFXivWinBenchmark executable to 3Dmark06.exe
Copy full screen wrapper d3d9.dll to this folder.
then run the exe
might be different for SLI, so you'd have to find a game with SLI support that is known to work in Multi-gpu mode while windowed.
Beta testers have confrimed flawless nvidia 3d support, which requires SLI, so even if the benchmark won't work in multi-gpu mode, the game will at least. -
I'm having booting issues with my 920XM. I can boot to windows in safe mode, but when I'm booting in standard mode I'm getting a BSOD saying " Somthing to the effect of an interrupt was not recieved from a secondary processor withing the allocated time interval.
I was just trying to do some Aquamark3 runs
sigh... taking it apart now
-
cpu voltage.
-
Too little? Hmm, i did get the power brick adaptor warning for the first time in a while
-
yep..probably just a hair shy of it.
what os are you benching aquamark in? -
Win 7 Home. Trying to get it to boot again now, but seem to be having power issues. Gotta think this out for a min.
EDIT: Wait forgot to attach the keyboard
