right-click on computer, properties, device manager, expand display adapters. if you have two - optimus is there, one (nvidia) - not so much
-
how is the screen quality??
-
side track abit,
a SSD may raise the WEI scores, but does it actually improve gaming? -
-
Graphics clock: 675 Mhz
Processor clock 1350 Mhz
Memory clock: 1250 Mhz
1536 MB GDDR5
Driver from 12/10
Where else can I look for optimus support? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Check in the device manager. Also what are the BIOS options?
-
Plus, not all SSDs have the same speed so scores will vary. -
another helpful tip may be to see the following:
control panel -> system and security -> power options
see the lowest plan. maybe you could test it, as guy on CES said no single word about optimus he just told that "system can be running around 4 hours without a charge" -
-
@ Dr.J try following up to my prev. post. if that doesnt confirm at least 4 hours of stand by - return that thing back to whoever made it...
-
Bad move by nvidia or alienware if 3D and optimus does not work together
You should the bios as final step, if intel GPU was "not detected" then it's clear really -
optimus goes "byebye"...
hows the R3 as a whole? is the whole casing made from plastic? isit flexi? -
-
Also check device manager and see how many display adapters it sees. -
Hi guys. New to the forums and new to pc gaming too. Found a lot of your comments to be reassuring as im new to all this. Awaiting my order of the basic m17x r3 to be dispatched but was wondering on what kind of perrformance I can expect to get from the standard set up. I upgraded a couple of components but nothing major.
Thanks guys

thats assuming if getting a non 3d screen will enable optimus... -
-
-
-
We were just wishful thinking maybe it was manual typo or error but everything confirm it even Dell website say "OPTIMUS READY" not Optimus enabled
HDTV market "full HD Ready" what it means it can accept 1080p signal but it's not full HDTV actually etc, stupid marketing -
I canceled through one guy and reordered through him, so it might be considered "original"

Several people received there R3's today and still no pictures or videos? Dangit! I'm getting impatient!

-
Congrats on your new laptop. How about some pictures.

Major fail on Dell's end to disable Optimus on the 3D models, there's absolutely no reason it should be disabled. If it's confirmed for certain that 3D+Optimus is a no no go mine may be going back in favor of an R2.
-
Mine is on a FedEx truck and supposed to be delivered today. I'll be sure to post pics asap.
-
-
no optimus huh, there goes my one reason for an r3.
-
-
It does support optimus. Just seems it doesn't when you select the 3D package. I'll wait for drake to make the final confirmation.
-
would much appreciate that. I do not really care about Optimus. I want power in a nice package. -
-
-
You can personal message me or whatever and I'll answer any questions you have. Should be here soon...

Wow this thread is over 1K posts, 50K views, and people are just now getting there systems
Reminds me of the M11x Debut.

LOL so Dell yet again threw out a lie on the battery life, no way are you going to get 5+ hours even with Optimus at that number.
-
I get 2 hrs with my system. Big fail there.

Kinda what I'm thinking at this point too, Dell's not gonna like my call here in a bit.
-
is there still a function button to switch between graphics cards?
